OK, fair points on the 3G. I guess for me, I use the 3G mostly on the train and I find the 3G connectivity to be pretty poor on both my daily commute (South London to Victoria) and the work travel I sometimes do (on the East Coast line up to Yorkshire). The 3G is constantly in and out due to tunnels and dead spots so I don't think it warrants the extra cash. I may as well just put up with iPhone 3G or tethering my iPad. I can see that if you are regularly in areas with consistent 3G connectivity but no wifi it makes sense though.
