The Apple Store App is now at least warning me that it "Cannot Connect to the Apple Store." I'll admit to being a little excited as that's progress. FFS.

Anyway torn between 32 & 64gb black. With no 4g lte and as it's easy to tether to my iPhone which I always have on me anyway don't really feel necessitated to plump for the 3g model.

Fear I may be going through a lot of tea tonight waiting for this! Lucky for me I have a fair bit!

Make that 3 (white iPad & female). I had it in my basket & then fell at the last hurdle about an hour ago...

I had the iPad selected and the "choose your accessories" page was loading before it went down. Never mind. Hopefully won't be long now

For those getting the 3G version, what is your reasoning? With the ability to tether your phone (both iPhone and Android) to your iPad, why would you spend extra on another sim/dongle/mifi? Just interested in whether I'm missing something.

Convenience.

Black 64gb wifi only for me. Don't use my current iPad anywhere where wifi isn't an option.

Would like to preorder but it's looking grim

I hold a 3G contract already so I have to get one really.

Also desperately refreshing.

Should be interesting to see what the light bleed is like on these new displays. Got my last ipad 2 swapped twice!

In other news, I sold my 2 for 350 last night!

Getting black too and I'm a girl :p. Don't buy all that girls buy white iPads and boys buy black. I have male friends with the white version.

I'm also getting a white 64GB 4G model. I currently have a white 64GB 3G iPad 2 which I'm going to be replacing with this new one. I also have a matching white 64GB iPhone 4S.

1) Tethering is a hassle.
2) Tethering drains the batteries of both of your devices at once.
3) 3G data doesn't have to cost that much. I got a Three 12GB 12 month sim for something like £60 and cut it down to micro sim size. That way I can have some months where I hammer the 3G and others where I hardly use it.
4) GPS - I use it all the time to auto-locate when working out how far routes are. It's just easier.

Using the iPad doesn't kill the iPhone battery. Also there's no GPS chip in the wifi model, I think.

Personally having 3G iPad allows me to 1 not drain my iPhone battery and iPad at the same time - use the iPad and take calls on my phone - and just ease of use.

I'll be getting a 3g model because I have a t-mobile sim with unlimited internet that still has a year to run.

My main phone is on o2 with only 500MB data, so tethering it would use that up pretty quickly.

I'm sat here refreshing both the UK and France online store, pain in the ass!

Currently working in Paris for a year so as long as i can get onto one of the sites i don't care. I know a lot of people are trying but still a little disappointed that Apple isn't more prepared for this kind of thing

I'll be going for a 32Gb wifi - don't need 3G

Having 3G also reduces the battery life. Tethering takes around 10 seconds. Most people wont be out of the house long enough for the battery to die as well. If you are somewhere away from a wifi connection for an extended period, its most likely in a hotel or somewhere, which have wall sockets.

Plus its not just £60, as the iPad capable of using it is more expensive than the wifi version.

I can understand (sort of) people paying more to avoid the hassle. Afterall, if money is no object, you may as well. For the working class though, paying over £100 just to save tapping a few menu icons seems silly.

Seems like both the US & UK sites are having problems now:
Http/1.1 Service Unavailable
from both sites.
