Something weird just happened.

So I ordered my Ipad on 8th and it said there dispatched by 19th March.

When I first did the order with my debit card I saw it took it from my balance (available balance). Now 5 days after it my balance is back up with the Ipad price.

I've checked the status and it still says dispatched by 19th March.
Does anybody have a same experience? Any thoughts?

Just in case my order is declined for some strange reason.. What are the chances I would be able to buy an Ipad anywhere in London on Friday without camping the night before?

Yes, the money is put on hold when you first pay on direct debit... if the company doesnt "claim" it within the first few days (depends on the bank) the funds are made available to you again. This happened with my iPad order... however the day after apple have re-taken the funds out and its showing as an actual transaction on the account. Dont worry its standard practice for certain banks.

So there is a hope everything is ok with my order?

Many thanks! ;)
I suppose it would be too optimistic now to think that dispatched date is actually 19th as it says but I would be happy to get it in 1-2 weeks time :)

Normal behaviour. Apple will run an authorisation for the amount to check you can actually afford to pay, and will then release the hold on those funds (which takes a few days). You'll then get billed on shipment.

Yes... I was freaked when I saw that the money had returned and was available to me in my bank and I rang them... they clarified its standard practice if the company you buy for doesnt process (take out) the payment within a few days... the money is initially placed on hold to ensure you have it available for apple and you cant withdraw it... but apple will then resubmit the payment request and this will be taken out as long as the funds are still available. All will be ok... keep smiling

Yeah I'm in the same situation. I wouldn't bother of that as delivering inside UK is all about 24hrs.

I'm sure it will be fine ... I live off a Road and I'd hate my iPad to be delivered to my house number of the road rather than my actual address!

Hopefully whoever printed the shipping labels off in the UK got them directly from Apple's system so it will all be good!

going to hong kong in may - the 32gb white new is only $HKD 4688
= £360 !! bargsin
or £445 for the 64 gb model

That's only if you can find one in stock somewhere. My fiancée and I bought our iPad 2s in New York in June of last year. We finally managed to hit lucky and walked into the Soho store just after they'd received a delivery. That was on the second to last day - everywhere had been sold out for the rest of the two week holiday and this was months after release day.

i think May should be okay.

I ordered the new Ipad for my sister. I will be getting an Ipad 2 (serve me fine, i don't need the extra resolution or camera) from Malaysia when i visit in May (16GB is only about £240)

They definitely had major stock issues last year. It seems like they've got more this time round.

I wouldn't count on it. Last year the online store was the only reliable place to get them for months and that was with a 2-3 week wait time. Chances are it will be similar this year such that while you will be able to buy in stores later on, it'll be pot luck whether they've had a recent delivery or not.

I just got a call from an Apple sales rep to say that my iPad will now be delivered on the 16th and apologising for the confusion. I don't know if this is due to me changing delivery address or not.

Nice one Apple - all is forgiven! :D

Hi, same thing, Apple (irish person on the phone) phoned me yesterday, stating that my iPad will be delivered on the 16 after all.

Still can't ********** track my iPad with TNT, im going to roar at someone today.
Perhaps you should take a deep breath and read some of the posts in this thread ... you can't track it because they haven't picked it up yet. That won't change until they actually pick it up.

The existence of a tracking number only means that there is a sticker on a box in a warehouse.

ive seen apple give out replacement ipads to people over the last few days because they say tracking should be working now. It is a small cause for concern.

Out for delivery!!

Syncreon has also changed for me with more tracking information. Indeed it says out for delivery!!!

iPad 1 came early, keeping fingers very crossed that this one will too!!!

(Although I admit that the likely end result is I spend today working from home, jumping at every van shaped sound outside, getting slowly more dejected with every minute! Then it arrives tomorrow!)
