Just wiped my hard drive of my RMBP to send it back to Apple tomorrow - stupidly didn't think about the reinstalling of OS X so its currently downloading from the Recovery HD - 10 hours remaining!
Haha. Oh my. That is the one thing I miss about recovery discs. I just sold my 2011 MBP on eBay to help defray the cost of the rMBP (correction: buyer never paid and I have to re-list), and I was able to scrounge up the Lion disc I made from the App Store DMG. Saved loads of time. Of course, that only worked because the MBP originally came with SL. I tried the same disc on my newer Mac Mini and it wouldn't work. =(

They have tried to deliver my RMBP three times in the past week (I have been on holiday) despite me asking them to hold off until tomorrow. UPS==bunch of incompetent f**kwits IMHO...

Haha - yeah I tried that too and it never worked either! Good luck with the selling of you're old MBP!
I thought this method worked on any Mac that Lion supports?

Does anyone know how long does it take to arrive after it is dispatched from China?
Mine dispatched from China on a Friday, arrived at LHR on Saturday afternoon and was with me on the Wednesday, after a merge with other items. If I had just getting the rMBP, it would have been with me on Tuesday.
As a rule of thumb, I'd go with 3 days for straight shipment, 5 for a merge.
Using the delivery status widget on my MBA and it says 28 days remaining which seems like a life time away.

Luckily I had a vacation pre-booked otherwise I'd have been broke and my girlfriend leaving me.
My rMBP was delivered from Heathrow to the Apple merging centre this morning at 8am. Just wondering from peoples experiences how long it would be until the courier collects. I've had no update on the order tracking page all day and no e-mail from UPS (or whoever is going to deliver it...). Thanks!

It'll be 1-2 days before the updated time frame, not your original. My original estimate was the 13-19th July, but I got it on the 4th! If yours goes out tomorrow, and boards the plane tomorrow, I'd expect it in your hands by Friday or Monday.
PS: You'll love it, fantastic computers!

Glad I'm not alone, keep checking the order status page at the Apple store! Hah. When is your expected delivery - mine is Thursday but I was hoping it would come Wednesday...
Mine is in that exact same batch as well! Can't wait to finally hold it in my hands! I made the mistake of hoping it would magically appear at my doorstep tonight.
ordered the exact same spec on the exact date with higher edu pricing as well, and still processing.
looking like the 3-4 week dispatch is quite accurate...
My earliest delivery date is a week tomorrow (the 17th) for my base model so I'm hoping things will start to happen soon! Base models seem to be a bit behind everyone else! I've already bought a case for it went to have another play with one in the Apple Store yesterday and wow....really excited for mine to arrive!
Ordered a basic and high-end rMBP on the 12/06, with estimated delivery between 12/07 to 18/07.
Finally the high-end has just shipped with delivery date of 17/07, one day earlier than the estimate. The other order is still in Processing stage.
Felling a bit underwhelmed and with surprisingly lack of excitement toward receiving the laptop.
Time to start watching all the un-boxing videos on YouTube I guess.

Hopefully! I'd expect it to ship sometime this week, and its usually around 5-6 working days till delivery from China.
If not then I'll phone up Apple and have a good moan!
Hopefully you'll see some movement near the end of this week or early next week.
