Dunno, lots, some brief research suggests the 747 could hold around 38 pallet, maybe more for all I know, but I dunno how many ipads you could get on a pallet.

"how many mother ****ing iPads on this plane?"

Then she added, almost as an afterthought "...so it should be out for delivery tomorrow". I'm having the iPad delivered to my work address in Leicester. We shall see...

Tomorrow is theoretically possible based on what we know/are guessing, but the timing will be pretty tight. Thursday seems more likely especially for people further away from the midlands, although we still dont know for sure if Apple are trying to block deliveries till Friday.

Certainly based on my original speculation on page 5, now taking account me having a similar situation with the delay due to HK holiday, Wednesday-Friday is the timescale according to TNTs rough estimates of general Shenzhen China->UK Midlands delivery times.

Timing seems tight to me too, but she sounded fairly confident. If it arrives tomorrow, then it's a bonus. If not, I won't lose too much sleep.

Ha ha. Since the iPad was announced in Jan, this site has been my most visited site by far. Witnessed the frustration when there was no word at the OS4 event, the anger that there was no pricing. Then witnessed it when we finally got prices and dates and then the even better pre-ordering. Then ever since then it has been non stop fun. I bet this place will be quieter on Friday afternoon. :D

Yeah Im treating Wednesday as a mega-bonus, Thursday as a bonus and Friday as still a joy.

Timing is tight but not yet ridiculous for a Wednesday delivery, they just need to get on that plane someone mentioned earlier that would get to the midlands in the early hours, then to the regional distribution centre for you which is likely not all that far away from the airport. Not sure what time stuff has to be at the local depot in order to make it onto the vans though, nor what is presently happening to our stuff at the TNT hub in Europe.

Just for those who are interested, I have managed to get back onto the 'Bridge Point' that gives an overview of my order, although absolutely nothing is different.

Edit: That link isn't working now, try this instead: https://applestore.bridge-point.com/store/WebObjects/applestore/?sc=*PUT YOUR ORDER CODE HERE*&ty=WON&st=RTR1gunR5PqtlHjodWkV

I just get a Shipment Status

message when I enter my order number.

Just an fyi - I contacted Apple customer service and they have said that their "paperwork" systems are having trouble handling all the orders at once, and so they are doing them in very small batches over the next week - that is, updating tracking info and actually processing the payments, yet the iPads will be shipped regardless of this.

I think being UPS or TNT is down to where your iPad is coming from
-some units seem to be in the UK already (UPS?) whereas the rest are coming from Asia (TNT).
I am also UPS, and I can't track **** either.

I seem to be one of the very few that is ups and not TNT. Can anyone explain the reason for this? TNT covers my area as I've had loads of deliveries from them in the past.

Plenty of people getting theirs by UPS, the reason there is so much TNT talk here is because there has been more for quite a lot of us to do, whether it be tracking stuff since as early as last Friday, or watching planes and speculating because the ipads have had further to travel. Other TNT people (presumably ones not coming from China) have had their tracking numbers give weird old orders, often to Greece, which has lead to further stuff to talk about. UPS people havent had as much to say so far because their tracking does nothing yet.

Its probably because they have certain sorts of models/order combinations coming from one place (UK or Europe I cant say for sure) via TNT, and others are somewhere else that is normally handled by UPS distribution (likely in the UK). And then of course there are also the TNT ones from China.

i found this on the TNT website, the flight schedule, but its quite hard to interpret!

what he said

If I get this early how odd would it be considering I took a day off. If it does suppose I could go the Arrandale and see the launch.

just spoke to the TNT call centre and spoke to a lovely south african lady who said my ipad 16gb wifi had a due date of the 27th May. I had the please call bit under the status on the tnt uk site tracking so rang and thats what they said. It was one of the ipads thats final update was: 24 May 2010 18:03:48 Hong Kong Shipment In Transit.

I have the rotating ' ! ' next to the tracking number - and have done ever since my consignment first appeared - but it doesn't say anything underneath it, nothing pops-up when I mouse-over it, and there's no link if I click (or double-click) it. So, what does it mean?

I am also UPS and none of the 3 tracking codes I was issued (one for each item, Wifi iPad, Case and Camera Kit) on Saturday have worked yet.

2 other people at work have theirs arriving to the office as well, but by TNT (One is a Wifi iPad with Keyboard Dock and the other is a 3G iPad with Case) so god knows. We all ordered the first day (I ordered first thing in the morning the other 2 before lunch)

I have the rotating ! too, have the tracking info though.

Cheers, interesting find, didnt reveal anything useful for the Liege->UK part of the journey as the only flights on that spreadsheet which go to Nottingham from Liege start on 29th May and carry on every Saturday thereafter for ages.

So unless I missed something they will be going on a flight that isnt on that list, eg another airline, or for all I know they could even go by road but Im not sure thats likely.

Yes I have the rotating thing too but Im not going to let it bother me and as people have already phoned TNT to find out the story I dont feel like repeating the exercise, not yet anyway.

money has just come out of my credit card !

and from Liege there is a flight to EMA flight FI 741 Iceland air that arives at 03.40 AM

From (LGG) Liege, BE to (EMA) Leicestershire, EN, GB
Duration: 1h 07m
Equipment: Boeing 757-200 Freighter (Scheduled)

thats where my moneys on ;)

That Nottingham TNT depot is probably 10-15 mins walk from my place :D

Order is still 'prepared for shipment' and the money has not been taken from my account yet. Is this normal?
