So I just thought I would put a final note on this thread about the Envy Green MacBook and Colorware. After using the computer for a few days I noticed the keyboard and track pad clicker were not "feeling" quite right. I compared the new computer to my 2.16ghz MacBook and noticed that in fact the keyboard keys were going down lower than the old MacBook. Also the track pad clicker was not depressing all the way and did not make a solid click sound. After further review I noticed EVERYTHING on the computer was not set in correctly including the power button, Apple logo on the front and even the rubber feet on the bottom. They all were set in lower than the original. Normally this would not have bothered me but since it was causing me to have typing problems and worries that the track pad clicker might go bad someday I returned the product. I had to pay for the shipping back to them and did not get refunded for the original shipping charges either so I lost about $60 altogether. I love my Colorware iPhone but as far as the laptops go I would stay away from them.:(

Too bad. Good idea, poor followthrough.

Green is my favourite colour and i like that shade of green. I do think though that laptop would have looked a lot better if the outside of the lid was just painted alone.

I've always liked what Colorware does with different products, but I've been to afraid to do it myself because I don't like messing with Apple products and I'm 16 with no job right now.

Thanks, this makes me feel better about not being about to afford their services :)

I have the black mac book and hate the grease smudges my finger leave on it even when i just wash man hands- any hints on cleaning?

yeah the white keyboard/mousepad kills those colorware macs.great idea though.better than those 24k gold plated macbook pros....

Any voluntary contributions to my new fund? It's called, erm, Help me Pay to Get my MacBook Sprayed Pink. A worthy cause, I think you'll agree.

set in lower than the original?
could this be the original color on a mac is thicker/thinner than what colorware uses? paint layer buildup can increase size and tolerances/fitting of components especially in something as compact as a computer.

i've painted a few ibooks over the years.my favourite was the pinstriped flat black ibook for a tattoo shop and the camo one for a hardcore guy.miss those days

Where did he say anything about ebay?

Colorware has an outlet on eBay for returns, cancelled orders, and demos. The item he purchased was a demo (I looked it up). Check them out -- their username is colorwarepc.

Aww, that's too bad. I suppose that with the iBooks and even the PowerBooks and MBPs the keyboards are fine because you can remove them. :(

That was a cool lookin' laptop, though. Only bad thing about the paint job was the keyboard.

Yep Sherlock you found me out. I was not planning on sharing how much I paid on eBay or my eBay ID but your right it was a demo and it was a good deal. I would have been happy with the product if the problems could have been fixed. It was for the best though because it turns out I am much happier with my new MBP.

Nice color combination, but i'm not a fan of green. The keyboard was probably not feeling right because of the fact that it was a demo...

awesome work. after some thought, the price tag even makes sense. complete disassembly...paint will not stick to sharp edges, everything must have been hugely prepped.

thats a lot of work by hand, and a finely crafted finish product.
