Well, it appears to come only with the smaller iPhone power adapter, at least here in the USA, based upon SlashGear's unboxing.

I suppose you're right.
Considering it has a 16.3 Wh battery, charging it with the 5 Watt iPhone charger should theoretically take about 3h16m.
Charging the 42.5Wh battery in the 4th gen iPad with the 12W chargers should theoretically take about 3h30m.

So including the lower capacity charger with the Mini sounds about right... Charging it with the 12W could maybe reduce it to 2h30m or something, but I dunno if it indeed does.
Still would have loved it if they included the 12W... oh well... Just think how much more of these boxes fit on a pallet now with the smaller charger vs. the big one... environment wins (sort of) and customer doesn't really loose.

See, that is what the stupid Fandroids don't realize. Apple sells a lot more product, and makes hugely more profits than any of their heroes will ever do.

They can preen and gloat and preach and moan, but when it comes right down to it, Apple makes the most profits, and they cannot ever deny it.

Let them CLAIM that their crappy Android stuff is better, but when you show them the bottom line, they slink away with their tails between their legs. Stupid Fandroids! Will they ever learn?
This is based primarily on very strong marketing techniques and people like yourself not saying what you want but being told what you want. I can't knock Steve for this,it works and is quite profitable.

Exactly. Apple's TV ads are world leaders. They are fresh. innovative and magical. Unlike all those Google ads, which are horrible!

And if Henry Ford had asked customers "what do you want" they would have told him to build a faster horse!

Apple skates to where the puck is going, and not to where it used to be. That is why Apple continues to push the bleeding edge of the envelope, totally outside the box, while everyone else just fires up their copying machines and is so desperate to catch up. But they never will.

Another pathetic Apple fanatic that can't accept criticism.

No, it's about having priorities. We're not talking about foreign policies, feeding the poor, or anything that really matters; we're talking about personal electronics. Find a product or company you prefer a support them buy making a purchase, but don't think for a second that anyone else gives a rip what tablet you own, car you drive, or cereal you eat. If you don't like Apple or iPad go to another site, don't come here with your miserable attitude.

Apple's 7.9 Inches has far fewer pixels than competing 7-inch tablets! You're cramming a worse screen in there, charging more, and accusing others of compromise? Ballsy.

They have made no claims that the screen is anything but what is it.

That said, many folks still don't see the point behind the whole 'retina' thing as they say the two screens look the same. So I don't think that many folks will really be bothered.

As for those other boys are they really giving us anything useful with their cramming 500ppi in their screens. It could just be spec wanking to sound better -- adding to sound good when it doesn't really improve things at that level

That's a damn good question. Though, given the specs, it's probably iPad 2 compatible and will simply present itself as one until iTunes 11. Either that or the iPad Mini was sitting in iTunes 10.7 all along, in which case nobody noticed it...

Or we'll see a 10.7.1 or 10.8 on Friday to support it.

What adapter does the Mini actually need. if it only needs 5w then it's not an issue.

Still waiting for the shipment confirmation for the 11/2 delivery on the east coast of Canada...

Online status "Preparing for Shipment" with only two days to go...

Well I have an iPad 3rd gen but I'd love to have a lighter iPad.

Need vs want.

My boss has asked me to go buy our local store next week after the chaos has died down to look at the Mini in person. We have been using the full size ipad on set but it is a tad clumsy so if the Mini might work just as well for what we are doing then we will get 3-4 and try it out. We'll likely keep the full sized for some functions like monitoring camera during shots but the rest we could go to minis or give folks the choice.

Does this sort of thing really need to be front page news?

it gets hits which gets them money (hell you came just to post how you think it's not really front page news) so yeah it needs to be on the front page.

make no mistake no blog is really about the information. it's a business and it's about making money
