Not sure if this was mentioned anywhere, but it would be good to know what version of iOS comes preinstalled on iPad Mini (6.0, or perhaps 6.0.1...maybe even 6.1 ;)).

IMHO - I personally think Apple are losing the plot now - this is a 'frippery' .. and and is a solution to a problem that never existed in the first place ...

It's hardly like the original iPad was resolving a problem, there was never a problem in the first place it's just they never existed. A solution is when you need to figure out how to save people dying everyday from starvation...that's a problem that needs a solution.

Apple seem to be resting on their laurels - their past ingenuity ...again .. my opinion .. but in the last 3 months things appear to now be rehashes of old kit.

How often do you think companies should release brand new ingenious products!

Exactly. Apple's TV ads are world leaders. They are fresh. innovative and magical. Unlike all those Google ads, which are horrible!

And if Henry Ford had asked customers "what do you want" they would have told him to build a faster horse!

Apple skates to where the puck is going, and not to where it used to be. That is why Apple continues to push the bleeding edge of the envelope, totally outside the box, while everyone else just fires up their copying machines and is so desperate to catch up. But they never will.

Look, I love apple as much as the next guy but...

Fresh - sure
Innovative - not particularly, certainly not anymore
Magical? - give me a break.

Oh yeah, smaller tablets, that's some bleeding edge stuff right there. Apple has rarely, if ever been a bleeding edge technology company. Taking what other do and improving upon it, doing it better? sure.

I would class the iPhone as very innovative and probably the main reason we are at the point we are now with regards to all the things we use and have started to take for granted.

The iPhone is on it's 6th version, at some point you need to stop hanging your hat on being first. Ford had the first mass produced car but they don't sell their 2013 model based on that fact.

The phone was, but i was replying to a statement about their television ads.

iPhone is old now man

Thats almost 6 years old.

And it's come a long way since the first model. It's hardly like other brands are being overly innovative with their phones. The only reason we have smart phones now is because of Apple.

I think that Apple have built a rod for their own back because peoples expectations are now way out of proportion.

Hi guys,

Has anyone else received a "Shipment Notification" email within the last hour or so?

Does this mean i will received the ipad mini tomorrow?

Yep, I've had the email but you can still expect delivery on Friday.

Apple's 7.9 Inches has far fewer pixels than competing 7-inch tablets! You're cramming a worse screen in there, charging more, and accusing others of compromise? Ballsy.

The saying "it's not the size that matters, but what you do with it" has never been more applicable than here. The posters below summed it up very well.

You crammed that in there sarcastically just to get it in before the inevitable whining continues right?

Right, and this coming from someone who has never even seen the thing, there is more to it than just resolution when looking at screen quality. Typical spec. junky comment.

We get it, you don't like it. Don't buy it, stop the whining.

Just joined to say how sad your life must be. Things may be going wrong in your life but you shouldn't feel the need to act out publicly. If you don't like the iPad mini don't buy it, no one is forcing you to. Don't go into a chatroom trying to bring others to your level of anger and self-loathing. Seek help.

And they will sell 10-20 times more than those competing 7 inch tablets!

Oh I didn't order a iPad Mini... I just mean in general. I just hate waiting a weekend. I'd rather have the weekend to tinker with it.

Oh i see, yes that would be annoying lol

Email says to be delivered on or before friday, so im still hoping for it tomorrow

Its time for iOS to evolve past what it is.

giving us little upgrades like a wallpaper, copy & Paste, and some hardware upgrades are getting a bit stale.

I mean I do love iOS, but its getting old. Its been pretty much the same for a long time.

I'll add that its just my personal opinion.

Yeah that's definitely the worst....thinking you're getting something on the Friday and then having to be frustrated the whole weekend. Never quite the same receiving an item on Monday, perhaps because it's the start of the week which is depressing anyway!

I would agree that iOS could do with a revamp and hopefully with Ive now head of UI design we should see that and hopefully sooner rather than later.

Yeah only upside is you get to bring it to work and tinker with it all day at work instead of do actual work.

On a site full of delusional statements, it's hard to be surprised.

How did you even come up with this gem? It's not even close to true.

People in this thread are far too smart.

Technology can only advance so much over a course of a few years. You cannot innovate until technology(science) allows you too. Correction: It's extremely difficult to innovate until technology allows you too.
Look at where smartphones have gone over the past... hmm 4-5 years. There's only so much you can pack into a small device. I'm really not sure what people were expecting with this new iPad. I think if Apple gave them the short supplied 7.9inch Retina display, they probably wouldn't be b*tching and moaning about the iPad Mini.

Also... for that one guy who was saying that Apple created the iPad Mini for a market that doesn't exist: I've been holding out for a portable iPad since the day the iPad 1 came out. For me, it's too heavy, too bulky and just doesn't fit my lifestyle. The iPad mini is perfect for what "I'M" looking for.
I think Apple took a step in the right direction. I'm still considering holding out until the iPad mini 2 comes out. Or... I dunno.... we'll see.

Very true....:D

Interesting to see you have a Nexus 7. Ironically the Nexus 7 is the very reason I've bought an iPad Mini. I could never figure out why someone would want a 7" tablet until 3 days before the iPad Mini announcement when I picked up a Nexus 7 in a shop and loved it...it was like a lightbulb going on!. In fact I nearly bought one there and then but decided to hold off until the Apple announcement.

I'm the opposite. I never got into 10'' tablets.

had a HP Touchpad and put Android on it and didn't like how big it was. To heavy and would make my arms tired. With the 7'' I can hold it in one hand(thats what she said).

I thought about waiting as well. but tried the Nexus 7 and was hooked. Its a great little device and does what I need. I know people say "Oh it doesn't have apps" but its simply not true.

I don't install more then like 10-20 apps anyways. The rest is for movies, browsing, etc on the couch and in bed.
