I know it wasn't announced, and there hasn't been any discussion, but should I even hold out for any sort of upgrade on the iPod Classic? Are they doing any upgrades to the OS or anything?

Nope. I get the feeling that they're going to sell their remaining inventory of iPod Classics and then let that product die.

Seems like the touch should have gotten a GB size bump

Probably something to do with the failure of flash memory to come down in price recently, and Apple not wanting to push up the price of the top-capacity model. Although, from a consumer point of view, I couldn't agree more. The maximum capacity has been 64GB for a couple of years now.

So nice! I cannot wait to get mine. Perfect for exercising and love the color. Of course, I had to get PINK!

My fiance ordered it for me and it is due to arrive next week. :)

I think they won't let the Classic die until they offer a 128GB iPod Touch. At that point, I think they will either eliminate the Classic or offer a 128GB Classic with flash memory. But if there's not much price difference, most people I think would go with the Touch.

So the iPod touch comes without the wall charger/adapter (small rounded cube), unlike the iPhone; I didn't know. :(

Any chances of measuring the amount of RAM before the tear-down? (diagnostics app, etc?)

Microphone on the bottom?

Anyone notice that little screen on the bottom, near the dock connector?

I guess the only options would be a microphone or speaker...hopefully it's a mic for Facetime (allowing use of non-Apple headphones).

So does the ipod touch include apple earphones with the remote and mic? Can't really make that out on the photos.

I think he may have meant storage capacity.

No way, I really think he meant the ability to use them in storage.

I want one of those little suckers, but I just can't find a way to justify it. Ah well, I'll just have to satisfy myself by playing with my... er, one at an Apple Store.

Anyone else find it weird that all of the nanos in the photo are on while still in their boxes?:p

Not really. The 2nd generation Touch only went up to 32GB, so it's only been a year since the first 64GB model was released. That said, I would really like to see a boost as well, since that would likely mean 64GB iPhones.

What? The iPod touch has a mic right next to the camera.

I think thats a sticker.

the Ipod touch never came with the Wall charger not to my knowledge, one think i have noticed they also have not included the dock which they did in the previous generation

still trying to convince my self i need one of the new ipods, i have a ipod touch for listening to music, have ipod nano 5 gen for Gym, have ipod shuffle 3 gen for daughter & wife. have iphone 4 and 3gs and ipad for browsing any ideas of excuse's on why i might need a new ipod

I really think the mic-and-controls headphones should be standard with every iPod by now. (Maybe not the shuffle, if it can’t use the mic and cheap is key.) The new Nano is clippable, which begs for remote control. And the new Touch does video calls; any audio chat can benefit from a mic near your mouth.

This! The new iPod Nano has Voiceover, yet they still want you to buy another headphone to use a feature fully that is already preinstalled, same w/ voice memos... This iPod is marketed to be a clip-on (out of visual reach most of the time) I would be OK w/ it, if the price of the nano was less than last model, but it has stayed the same price (the shuffle last year had the mic + headphones). It feels they refreshed the line, but had a bunch of the older headphones laying around that needed to get rid off...

Nah, it only comes with the headphones. No mic or remote attached. Just picked up the new ipod Touch 8GB this morning at my local Apple Store. Oh and while the packaging might look beautiful, it's a pain in the arse to get off. The box the ipod Touch comes in is taped together in more than one place. After you get that off, you have to pull this very sticky stuff where the plastic/fake screen on the front is attached off of the back of the ipod Touch itself.
