Argh...how can there be this many rumors about it if it's not coming out until June? It must be imminent :)
why would there be an announcement pending for the Mac Pro, but absolutely nothing for the MacBook Pro. I understand previous MBP's weren't announced prior to their release, but I don't think Apple would have a Mac pending release, and then completely surprise the masses with another Mac release around the same time. So I assume no MacBook Pro release prior, or alongside the MacPro. Probably will happen sometime after, and since it doesn't seem reasonable for Apple.

Same boring decade-old design, same **** keyboard. $3000+

Good luck
I’m sure Apple appreciates your well wishes, but not to worry, they’ll sell plenty. New keyboard, physical escape key, bigger screen with smaller bezels thrown in... what’s not to like? (In the real world of MBP users, not MR forum posters.)

It’s kind of weird, many pros care more about function than form. I’m glad Apple agrees, though it does lead to many angry posts about the iPhone notch and camera bump. Oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

There is no pending announcement for the Mac Pro, they did that at WWDC last June. It’ll launch without another event.

The 16” could certainly launch alongside (or before), I don’t think it needs an event. What’s there to say, really? “Our best Mac Pro ever, with a 1” larger display and a new keyboard. How long is that event, 30 seconds?

Did a quick FotoForensics and the compression looks a bit different from similar product images on Apple's website. However, could be an artifact of MacRumors putting their watermark on. Edges of the hand (particularly the thumb) also look a lot rougher than I would expect from Apple.

Do the same for the 2016 image. It looks like after the post on October 2016 the 2016 MacBook dropped on October 27 2016

Yeah it was posted upthread about an hour ago that the finger was photoshopped. The picture is a fake.

I really wish people would learn what the word “innovation” means. A photoshop fake is hardly innovative
I know right. I was been sarcastic 😂😂😂😂

my point is, i wouldn't see them releasing an updated macbookpro prior to the release of the already announced MacPro. Also, I don't see them releasing it around the same time either. But thats just my two cents. Who knows

The implementation of Touch ID as a fake button on iPhones directly before Face ID was introduced is excellent. The combination of a physical indentation combined with haptic feedback that makes it feel like a click when you press it actually fools people into thinking it is a physical button.

The same should be done with the function keys. Indentations for each button and haptic feedback when pressed. This would maintain all the functionality of physical function keys, which is a feature that is much, much more important to some people (like people that work in excel a lot, for example) than the features that would be lost. You still maintain a lot of flexibility (the keys can change), but you would lose sliders.

The slider issue is super easy to remedy anyway, just hold down one of the custom keys in the function bar and then slide your finger on the track of for the same effect.

The negative of losing physical, or at least faux-physical, keys vastly outweighs the gain from niche use cases, at least for me.

Let's see what the Adobe Max show brings next week. We could see a hardware announcement by Tuesday.

whyyyy Touch ID? its a laptop, you open it, it sees your face right away. its costs alot. just add Face ID!!!
its a better way to implement a power button into the same button. Where else would they put the power button?
I mean they could add a side button that doesn't hurt the symmetry of the whole keyboard/Touch Bar. I think Touch ID works fine and sometimes you're further away from your computer for faceid to work right id imagine.

doesn't look much different than the normal bezels on the 15" to me. Id think apple would make it almost bezel-less including the top or why even bother?
