This computer needs Face ID! There is no excuse not to add it; the computer is the “next” MacBook Pro and should follow the phone/iPad tec.

Razor Stealth late 2019 models as alternatives?
I have a razer blade 14 and the thing kinda sucks honestly. Coil whine, charging circuit problems, mediocre heat management, FHD screen sucks, touchpad sucks and doesn’t have useful gestures. Plus windows.

No more Razer for me.

Chase freedom card instead of Apple credit card? ;)

But...but... it wont be made of aluminium! I got to 'ave the aluminium!

(The irony of a card being hyped because of the "amazingness" of the card itself, not the terms of the loans. Says a lot, actually...)

Next up: Apple Credit bend-gate

whyyyy Touch ID? its a laptop, you open it, it sees your face right away. its costs alot. just add Face ID!!!
Ummmmmm because that could be faked out with a printed out picture of you?? That's not secure at all!

FaceID needs the 3D camera sensor technology that's in the iPhone X/XS/11... a normal camera doesn't work for that.

In short, it needs lasers. No lasers, it's not safe and it can be faked out by anything just like all those android phones with pseudo face ID (it recognizes your face but only compares the picture so extremely easy to get into that)

Touch ID sensor is secure. Passwords are also secure.

Yeah? Okay, i will still buy myself a snowblower instead, even if this 16" is released tomorrow.

These guys, they are just playing with us. Apple has never been the company that gives us what we want...they believe we dont know what we want until they make it....

But yeah, you know what kind of snowblower a guy can buy for $3,000? Puts things into perspective!

my point is, i wouldn't see them releasing an updated macbookpro prior to the release of the already announced MacPro. Also, I don't see them releasing it around the same time either. But thats just my two cents. Who knows

If a delay is due to "supply chain issues", which is likely, then we cant infer anything.

All we have is heresy that this device even exists. I don't think Apple would introduce such a laptop size when the 15.4" is only 0.6" smaller. Will anybody even notice if one is an inch smaller than the other?

The non-rounded corners in the bezels suggests to me that it’s fake.

I’m guessing the new MBPs should and will visually match both the bezels in the iPhone 11 and iPad Pro.
I think if there’s one thing we can be sure of, it’s that new MBP will not have rounded corners.

I certainly hope this isn't a legitimate photo of the new 16" MacBook Pro... it is missing the rounded corners on the display that are found on the iPhone X, XS, and 11, as well as the latest iPad Pro models!

Also, if we're getting a 16-16.5" MacBook Pro with a footprint similar to that of the current 15" model, then wouldn't it be great if Apple added another model with an 18-18.5" display with a similar footprint to that of the former 17" model? Depending on battery life, that unit could be available with a Xeon processor, or a very fast variant of Apple's own silicon if the rumors that they will transition to ARM-based processors prove true! Given how much thinner and lighter the latest laptops are and how we have iPhone and iPad now, I'd rather have the extra real estate on the display than the small size.

Answer is simple. Apple is changing the display tech. To what? We dont know. Otherwise, as you would say, the increase in size would be silly. But being silly didnt stop them from naming a phone "pro", making extra expensive airpods and calling them "pro", and naming round corners on iphones "liquid retina".

I ecpect they are stuffing it inside the same lid. And you can see how people are frothing to get it, because !!16"!!. (Is there a super surprised/ amazed/ instantly in love manga face emoji? Insert here...)

Apple, will you PLEASE offer more RAM in the MacBook Pro for professional use? 96 or 128G, or at least 64G. A number of PC laptop manufacturers offer those options. Catch up!

Does anyone know if Apple is planning to do this anytime soon?

Lid would have to be a lot thicker to fit the FaceID module in it. Until FaceID technology changes significantly or the lid is made thicker, we're most likely stuck with the 720p webcam for a long time to come.

I think the screen is pretty thin. So they won’t put FaceID.

I think it’s because the sensors are still too thick for a MacBook screen.

I won’t object to TouchID on a Mac IF: (1) the laptop can still be turned on without TouchID being activated AND (2) Apple also includes FaceID for a login option. Neither TouchID nor FaceID should be compulsory to turn on the computer.

If Apple can’t figure out how to innovate on its own, then I suggest Cook & co. pay Dell for its IR camera design which is mounted in its thin 13” XPS bezel and pay Lenovo for the right to implement its ThinkShutter and ThinkPad keyboard design.

If Windows OEMs like Dell and Lenovo can implement these features with lower margins, Apple has no excuse.

A lot of the people who would pay for a machine like this are also the people who cover their webcams. Over here in Germany, the majority of the most pro users I've worked with have covered webcams and there's absolutely no chance they would stop doing it for Face ID. It's just the wrong market segment for that feature on a computer.

Good point. I'm also in Germany (Berlin) and a lot of colleagues have their webcams and even their front-facing phone cameras covered.

Update: A couple of additional hints, including the "Touch ID to pay Apple" text taken from a similar image asset for the 13-inch MacBook Pro not matching the North Face website taken from a version of the asset for the MacBook Air, suggest that this is very likely a fake.

So why keep it on the front page? So clearly fake.

For me honestly I'd be perfectly happy if they removed the FFC altogether. FaceTime is more convenient on your phone (in particular) or iPad anyway. One feature on the new MacBook Air which I haven't heard about on the Pros yet is that when the lid is shut it disconnects the microphones as well...

Literally nobody is suggesting they add Face ID using the regular camera...

This....I just....I don't get it. Face ID is meant for the Mac. It is the ideal use case. It would be a joy. And...Touch ID is terrible on the Mac. It is an awful user experience. Nothing like it is/was on iPhone.

How these facts have not resulted in a single Face ID Mac, I just cannot understand.

I'm hoping that isn't the real image as that keyboard looks like the same crap we've had the past 4-5 years.

Someone posted a comparison where you can see the keyboard depression is larger (suggesting deeper) and the keycaps are marginally smaller. Hopefully they might have just straight up transplanted the Magic Keyboard into it!

MacRumors has received a potential image of Apple's rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro with three distinct design aspects: slimmer bezels around the display, a standalone Touch ID sensor, and a physical Esc key.

unconfirmed-16-inch-macbook-pro-physical-esc-key.jpg

While all three of those features line up with other images of the 16-inch MacBook Pro uncovered in macOS Catalina 10.15.1, we cannot confirm if this latest image is legitimate. It certainly looks believable at face value, but we cannot find the file in any recent macOS Catalina builds and it could be photoshopped.

Our anonymous tipster claims the 16-inch MacBook Pro will be equipped with AMD Radeon RX 5300M or 5500M graphics, part of its Navi line. That is also unconfirmed, but MacRumors contributor Steve Moser did recently uncover a "Radeon RX 5500/5500M" string within macOS Catalina 10.15.1 code.

MacRumors leaked a similar image of the 2016 MacBook Pro a few days ahead of Apple announcing that notebook, and it turned out to be legitimate. The image depicts a user authenticating an Apple Pay purchase with Touch ID.

Last month, an icon corresponding to a 16-inch MacBook Pro was uncovered in the macOS Catalina 10.15.1 beta, revealing slimmer bezels and what appears to be a physical Esc key after zooming in closely, which would certainly please critics of the virtual Esc key on the Touch Bar now.

Then, a few days ago, a close-up image of a standalone Touch ID sensor was uncovered in the release version of macOS Catalina 10.15.1.

Back in July, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the 16-inch MacBook Pro would be equipped with a scissor switch keyboard, with Apple finally beginning to move away from its troublesome butterfly keyboard design. At that time, Kuo also predicted the notebook would be released in the fourth quarter of 2019.

Even if the image sent to us is proven fake, it could still end up being an accurate representation of the 16-inch MacBook Pro design based on leaks and rumors. At this point in the year, however, it is unclear if Apple plans to release the 16-inch MacBook Pro by the end of 2019 or in 2020.

Update: A couple of additional hints, including the "Touch ID to pay Apple" text taken from a similar image asset for the 13-inch MacBook Pro not matching the North Face website taken from a version of the asset for the MacBook Air, suggest that this is very likely a fake.

Likely false but we will keep article up anyways just so people will click on it.
