MBP 2017 13 (16GB/1TB/3.5-4.0GhZ)
My display seems perfect. Well, it looks a little yellow on the left if I move to the left; a little yellow on the right if I move to the right. I really thing a lot of the problems described here are due to how the colour tint on parts of the screen change as the viewing angle changes. If I consciously put myself in front of the *dead centre* of the display then it is as near as can be to perfect, but if I move my head around, this changes somewhat. I think this is perfectly ok. I have the A033 display btw.

THIS!!!! But this has been the norm with consumer screens for years, if you look at it from the side you get shift. I am going into town shortly. Will go look for myself and see.

Well I had a look in the store, can't say I noticed anything that really stood out to me. Any shift when viewed at an angle was marginal. I will say that maybe just maybe in low light with the brightness turned down maybe there is something. But I couldn't see it.

However I will say if absolute colour critical perfection is needed there are external monitors designed for that.

I also think that my sensitivity to this "problem" changes throughout the day! It is midnight now where I am (UK) and I *cannot*, no matter how hard I try, see any imperfections at all in terms of colour uniformity on my MBP screen. But five hours ago I could definititely see that the left side was a little yellow. Weird... And I concede, obviously, I have become a little obsessed with this ;-)

colorshift based on angles is real, sure. but there are legitimate permanent non-angle based color shifts in some of these panels on a case by case basis. whether or not it is acceptable is up to each user, obvs.

Has anyone had one that's perfectly uniform or had the issue correct itself over time once the screen "burns in" (I know this is debatable).

What do you guys think of this screen-new 15". I think it's a little pink on the left

Would really appreciate any help-I don't have back light bleed and trying to decide if I should exchange

What do you think of this screen?

What do you think of this screen?
Looks fine to me, maybe a little pinkish up top but it could be the angle (I don't see anything on the left like JPizzle does, honestly).

This is the older 13" MBP though, is it new or refurb?

I see a bit yellowish on left and right, whiter in the middle. It's refurbed 2015 from Apple. 1 week old. Just wondering if it's worth returning. Seems like these through 2017 can have similar issues.

Honestly, it's basically impossible to get a perfectly uniform display (in either color or brightness). Even my professional NEC monitor that cost a ton of money isn't perfect and in fact needs quite a bit of built-in hardware compensation to get close to uniform. Another issue could be warmup time, displays usually need 20-30 minutes to fully level out.

That being said, if it bothers you to a significant degree in day-to-day use then you may be better off exchanging.

I haven't had good luck with the screen replacements-it usually yields a screen that looks worse. It's not that bothersome, just unexpected from these retina displays.

Here is what I am seeing. A whiter band in the middle with pinker top and bottom bands.

That's just due to where your centered with the screen. It's "drop off" and I think all lcd's have that. Meaning if u move your head to the left then that will be white and the surrounding pink. My concern is whether the tint is uneven from left to right or top to bottom.

I understand drop off. I think it's uneven like mine somewhat. With mine, I have 3 days that I can return it within the 14 day window, but then what? Get a refurbed 2016(will cost $240 more than my 2015 cost) with no ports that may have the same issue or more uniformity but more yellow?

It's a tough call for both. I almost wish it was more glaring so the decision would be easier.

Not sure what to do. I'm not sure if any exist without the pinkish left-it seems that it's a question of how extreme

I agree. I ran the image retention test and mine did not suffer from that after 10 minutes, so I have that going for me.... The non-uniformity seems to really be impacted by the ambient light. At my office with a mixture of flourecent lights and sun-we have skylights- I can hardly see any difference on solid while backgrounds, it's acceptable. But at night, with no ambient light this is where the issue occurs. FWIW I have the A029 screen, which is the LG.

At this point, considering the options, I think I will just keep what I have. It's not bad enough to play the screen lottery with Apple at this point-and the machine has no other issues. For me, because of staingate, I have 3 year warranty on the coating as well.

I agree that many (if not all) have this unusual tint. I returned 2 15" 2016 rMBP before finding one with a screen acceptable to me. Mine, purchased at launch, has a very slight pink on the left to blue on the right tint. I don't really even notice it unless looking for it at this point. I've had many other Apple products and even with the slight uneven tint, I think this is the best screen I've ever had and I love it. My computer is also perfect otherwise with none of the issues reported here.
I wouldn't attempt to give an opinion on your screen, because I think photos accentuate any unevenness and don't represent what the screen looks like in person. If the screen is acceptable to you I would keep it and enjoy the computer. If not, return it or exchange it while you still can. It costs too much to not be happy with it.

Sometimes it's not that easy. If the genius can't see it you have that issue. If you do get another there is a good chance it's going to be the same or worse. Tough call.

so glad I'm still happy as can be with my 2016 nTB first shot

and out of this seemingly terrible panel lottery,

I got a good 7+, nTB, and 12.9gen2. lucked out on all three.

oh and 9.7 pro and SE (though yellowing at top, but no vertical 'scan lines'), had to go through a few of each for these.

....phew!
