i can't help wondering if they did the taco one in response to thefatjewish's constant requests on instagram...

Come on Apple! I need those new emojis in my life!

Edit: Just saw the list of emojis that were added in Unicode 7 last year. It just seems like a very long list of pointless symbols that almost no one would ever use. (except the middle finger, that one is important) I'm not surprised nobody took the time to support it, except for Windows 10.

... and still no regular smiley face, as in "colon + right parentheses". Just a face that is smiling, not showing teeth, is all I want. You'd think it would be the very first Emoji ever created.

I always thought the blushing smiling face was considered the regular smiling face. But you must mean a face without the blushing and with round eyes, like the classic smiley?

The closest one is the smiling face with the tongue hanging out of the corner, so something like that but without the tongue.
The regular smiley with teeth is rubbish, I never use it.

It's most ironic that with all these emoticons, there is no actual 'smiley'. I would say a good 80% of them are useless.

Yeah, like in iChat, AIM, etc. The MacRumors one is pretty close: :)
Edit: Here's the iChat one, which MacRumors used to have:

"Of interest to iPhone and Mac users is the emoji portion of Unicode 8..."

Well, that sums up iPhone and Mac users.

Finally! Cheese! I've been waiting for this for 10 years at least! Until now, I have been unable to convey my intricate emotions to my friends and/or family, especially when it came to cheese-related subjects. As a hobby dairy farmer, cheese is a major part of my day, so having to write the infamous six-lettered word over and over is painstaking, laborious, and time-consuming. Thanks to the advent of the cheese emoji, I can finally concentrate on more important tasks, such as actually making cheese. If my calculations are correct, this emoji will save Humanity over a billion hours of wasted time within the next eon. Technology wtf!

Soon, we will reach emoji nirvana where every imaginable thing will be represented by a small, tiny graphic. I, for one, accept our new emoji overlords.

One more thought: there still isn't a good "confused" emoji. I know there's one that's supposed to be confused, but let's be honest: it looks more like "sad" than "confused." We nee something more like this, or at least with a question mark included.

That's *just* what I'm looking for, some more garbage emojis for me to sift through whilst I try to locate the few worthwhile ones.

Totally agree, the only emoji I want are ones that help portray an emotion or feeling to the text that otherwise can be miss-interpreted.

I think the Windows version of the confused emoji is the best one. It just needs a question mark. The Android version looks more like a suspicious emoji and the Apple one looks slightly displeased.

#1 - Emojis are helpful when communicating with people who don't know the language as well. IE, I have a lot of coworkers who speak English as a second language, so emojis sometimes fill in the gaps in their English vocabulary.
#2 - Emojis are fun.

What other reasons do we need for Emojis?

I am going to get so much more use out of that unicorn. just doesn't quite work for me.

Still waiting for 7... Every single day...

For real Apple pick up the pace on Unicode Keyboards!!!

This doesn't help you with iOS, but on OS X you can enable Unicode hex input typing by going to the keyboard settings -> input sources -> + -> Others. US Extended is another good choice as it allows you to do that thing where you sţ̧́́́ä̧̧̧̃̈̊́̃̌ć̛̌́̃k accent marks for no reason in particular.
