Based on the trailer it's going to be a flop. Not compelling to me (and I'm an, at least to the degree a Sorkin drama can be and this one literally wrote itself. I can only imagine how non-tech geeks view it. Maybe the trailer is just a victim of poor editing but it feels like its one of those movies where if you see the trailer you've seen the movie.

No way I'm paying to see this. I will watch it but it will be from my computer monitor. Straight to Netflix.

So, er... whatever happened to Sorkin's "Jobs movie to feature just 3 scenes in real-time backstage at product launches" concept? This looks like a full blown biopic with the soap opera dial cranked up to 11. And then the trailer pushed it from 11 to 13. The music department clearly thinks this is Game of Thrones or a Marvel movie called "How Steve Jobs became Magneto".

What music department? This is a trailer.

Having just finished the book Becoming Steve Jobs, this trailer really rubbed me the wrong way. And Fassbender is much more physically imposing presence than Steve was. I know he wasn't the filmmaker's first choice, and I can see why.

I'm sorry but Fassbender has absolutely no resemblance to Jobs.
Would you rather have someone who looks like Steve Jobs but can't act or someone who can act that doesn't look like Steve Jobs.

It's a movie, I can suspend disbelief while watching while you're up in front of the screen shouting that Fassbender is a big phony.

I will admit Ashton got the looks down pack. But Fassbender is a very good actor. We will see how this turns out. I liked the movie Jobs with Ashton in it though despite mixed reviews.

I find movies about him to be unnecessary. What other modern public figure has two movies released about them and two biographies? I can't think of any. Just too much. We all know he was a cruel jerk who would show his soft side from time to time as he got older.

I for one would rather have a movie that tells a good story, than an actor that wants to look and emulate SJ exactly. I think Aston Kutcher spent way too much time trying to get the odd gate down than portraying the tortured genius that was SJ.

However this trailer doesn't really tell me if the movie will be good.

What music department? This is a trailer.
Huh? Department as in "unspecified entity in charge of slapping some canned music on this trailer, or lifting excerpts from the soundtrack should one exist at this point". Are you wondering whether I think there's a separate wing of a building somewhere with an actual department of 540 people who made a collective effort to put it there? I hope not.

Oh my, let's be real here. It looks like garbage. Actors appear nothing like the people they are portraying. Ever....single....line of dialog is coming across very stale and forced. This movie looks to be the Star Wars's Phantom Menace twin. Full of wooden performances all trying to cash in on the "Apple fanboy-ism's" taking place currently in our society. I'd even go as far as saying that all the people saying "this movie looks great!" are from the Apple Watch forum.

This thing is devoid of any warmth. Perhaps now is not the time. Perhaps we need to exhaust all the current film offerings, and sleep on it. One day, with the reflection and the passing of some years, someone will come up with the better biopic for SJ that everyone will remember as the one. This isn't it.

"The interface was stolen..."

Bit it wasn't stolen, it was part of a deal where Xerox got a boatload of Apple IPO stock at preferential prices in exchange for letting Jobs et al use anything from PARC that looked good to them.

Why is this fact continually misrepresented?

If I were the head of Apple legal, I would be sending a nice letter to the studio to challenge the use of this mischaracterization.

Following an initial teaser earlier in May, Universal today released the first official full-length trailer for the upcoming Steve Jobs movie.

The two-and-a-half minute trailer provides the longest look at the Danny Boyle-directed biopic that anyone has seen yet, balancing focus between Steve Jobs' various behind-the-scenes product launches and his intense personal life regarding his relationship with daughter Lisa Brennan-Jobs.

The trailer also gives more in-depth looks at Jeff Daniels and Kate Winslet, especially, as John Sculley and Joanna Hoffman, with various through-the-years glimpses of Michael Fassbender as Steve Jobs. After various casting calls and set photo leaks earlier in the year, excitement around the somewhat troubled film has only been steadily building. Fans can expect to see the full movie in theaters October 9.
