"The interface was stolen..."

Bit it wasn't stolen, it was part of a deal where Xerox got a boatload of Apple IPO stock at preferential prices in exchange for letting Jobs et al use anything from PARC that looked good to them.

Why is this fact continually misrepresented?

If I were the head of Apple legal, I would be sending a nice letter to the studio to challenge the use of this mischaracterization.

To be fair they got trinkets to what would have been the mother of all patents. Kinda like how we gave beads to the Native Americans for the US.

The blinking cursor at the end was wrong, it doesn't look anything like a Mac 128 cursor.

ughh so much WRONG with this

it looks like Newsroom meets Proteus Android

with dialog in confounded Sorkinese

he screwed up the FB movie (ignoring anything about privacy or invasive advertising)

this will be way worse than Jobs/Pirates put together

God, Noah Wyle would be 10 millions times better. And that guy playing Woz is below mediocre.

And this is Universal...

Okay, Fassbender as Steve Jobs doesn't convince me on a superficial basis. But Steve Jobs is just a too public person to find someone that truly resembles him AND can act. And come on, none of you personally knew Steve Jobs. It just doesn't matter. None of what he did and who he was was directly connected to his outer appearance either, so get over it.

On the other hand, the trailer gripped me a lot more than that first teaser did. Didn't like Seth Rogans acting here at all, but the whole idea behind the movie seems to be the dichotomy private Jobs/professional Jobs. Sounds like this approach can shed some light on who Jobs was. Definitely going to watch it.

This just seems to be a film aimed at fanboys and tech people. Based off the trailer I don't really see anything that would draw anyone in that isn't already interested in the story of Jobs. That said, I think it has potential to be a good film.

Horribly lame trailer. We all know the story and it has been said it so many times that it's just painfully boring.
The only film that captured it extremely well to me (and in an original way) was "Pirates of Silicon Valley".
For a TV movie, the result is quite good: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0168122/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_27
I like Danny Boyle but I think he shouldn't have done this.

Of course, I could be wrong, as this is just a trailer.

Looks great, but he does not look like Jobs

I don't get this type of comment. I didn't see the last one, and I probably won't see this one until it's on HBO. But why does the actor have to look exactly like Jobs? If they capture the vibe, and the character is acted well, isn't that the most important part? Is it a Jobs fanboy thing? I just don't get it.

The Facebook movie didn't cover privacy or advertising, because that all came much later in Facebook's timeline. Not to mention the plot of the movie was not about Facebook. It was about Mark Zuckerberg destroying his relationships pursuing success with Facebook and the lawsuits that ultimately resulted from those actions. Facebook was the catalyst and not the entity under discussion.

I'm sorry but Fassbender has absolutely no resemblance to Jobs.

Indeed.

And we have such a vivid, accurate image of him from the numerous keynotes and televised interviews that it is impossible not to cringe watching this trailer. He also sounds nothing like Jobs.

What's the point?

As I predicted from last year, it is trying to blacken his name due to the Lisa references. I see no other point to this movie.

Why are so many hung up on him not looking like Steve Jobs? Obviously in movies it's nice when the actor looks like the person they are portraying but that's a bonus most of the time. Ashton Kutcher's uncanny resemblance to Steve Jobs in that movie was rare.

Yeah, I wouldn't pay money to see this. It is basically the same story from "Jobs". And while the acting in that was not great it was tolerable. I can't see Seth Rogan as Woz, that ruins this for me.

Like Gary Oldman, Christian Bale has the ability to metamorphoses into just about any character and would have been fantastic. I agree Fassbender will be good, but he simply doesn't look the part and that is a tough thing to overlook for someone so famous.

Because he had huge exposure, so everyone knows what he sounded and looked like. For anyone to dare portray him, he's on to a losing battle, as the slightest error will spoil the illusion.

They might as well have had Steve Ballmer play Jobs.

"...dare portray him"??? You know he was just a mortal human like you and I, right?

I found the voice more off than the appearance even. Fassbender sounds like he is whining every line compared to how Steve Jobs actually sounded.

The criticism that Michael Fassbender doesn't look like Steve Jobs is both valid and irrelevant to an absurd degree. Actors, act. Great actors act greatly. If physical resemblance is the sole criteria than your criteria are misplaced. Did Ben Kingsley look Gandhi? Oh, I forgot, all Hindus look alike.

I'm going to call it. Good script. Good actors. Good costumes, lighting, scene work.

Lack of believability that Fassbender is Steve Jobs.

That last part will make this movie lackluster when it might otherwise have been really great.

The tech geeks will watch it. Hell, I will watch it. But, we watch all the Jobs movies.

The general public would need to feel like this guy resembled Steve Jobs at least a little bit and let's face it... he DOES NOT AT ALL.

Well, to be fair, Ghandi is not available to us in hundreds of videos and interviews and keynotes... see my point here?

And no, all Hindus do NOT look alike.

Yes. This.

He needed to either look like him or sound like him and Fassbender pulls off neither.

We've had Noah Wylie who both looked and sounded enough like him that we all loved his portrayal in Pirates.

We've had Kutcher who looked very much like him and sounded like him and had his mannerisms down to an uncanny degree in Jobs.

This is just disappointing. I like Michael Fassbender, but taking on this role did him no favors if he wasn't going to study Jobs' vocal style/mannerisms and mirror them to the nth degree to pull off not looking like him.
