Sure, how's that?
Looks good! I linked to this thread on SDs too. Honestly I feel like the more they get hammered with requests, the more likely the reps are to just give in and unlock in order to stop the barrage of repeat requests, lol!

I would be interested in knowing if this works on Androids too but I don't have an AT&T Android to test it on.

I'm thinking AT&T may shut it down if they start getting overwhelmed with unlock requests but there's a chance that they really are changing their unlocking policy. I hope they are.

Perhaps but for now, it is working so get it while you can!

Like someone else posted, if they see that people want this but still stay with AT&T then they may.

The thing is that all Verizon phones are unlocked now so it only hurts AT&T to keep their phones locked. AT&T still can blacklist the devices and go after people for unpaid ETFs and unpaid NEXT phones. The only downside to AT&T is for travel abroad, less people would buy their international plans. But that is only maybe b/c many people will just buy a used phone to use and then sell it. Plus, I think on balance it hurts AT&T b/c it is a reason for people to go to Verizon - all of the newer Verizon phones are unlocked.

The other issue is resale value - the phones have higher resale value if they are unlocked. That only helps AT&T if their phones have higher resale value. It makes customers more likely to upgrade phones and choose AT&T service. I know as a Verizon customer it is a huge plus for me. And people literally hate Sprint for their unlocking policies. And how is Sprint faring these days?

Yeah, I hope a lot of people can see this thread and get theirs unlocked. A couple of months ago I was able to get 20gb of data for the price of 10gb, and it was shut down after 3 days so that's why I said they may shut the unlocks down. Only time will tell. I have no intention to leave AT&T but it's nice to have an unlocked device for international travel.

That is the complete opposite of what I have read. AFAIK, you get a locked to AT&T device from Apple b/c they replace like with like. But since AT&T doesn't have that IMEI associated with your contract, they will unlock it upon request.

There are even references in this thread. Check out post #64 and #65 for example.

Why would Apple replace an unlocked phone with a locked one?

Well I used the link in the OP to request an unlock as I will be traveling overseas. I guess we will see how it goes.

Well holy ****, I did not think it would work, but 2 minutes after submitting my request to unlock an iP6 on NEXT, I got the approval message.

I'll know for sure when I get home since I have a Vodafone Ireland SIM I can try. Now I won't have to schlep around my old unlocked iP5 when I go to Ireland in a couple months.

Can confirm mine is unlocked. I put in the Vodafone SIM, my iPhone asked me for my iCloud password to activate, and then it was unlocked, didn't even have to restore.

I've never found that exposing an offer on SD or the like makes it longer-lasting.

Try the Prepaid/GoPhone option, worked for me. Had to do it twice though.

The prepaid option was denied twice for me. Trying my third today.
Is this what it said when you were denied the first time?:

"The account holder information you provided does not match our records."

Tried unlocking a few days after I got the phone (next) and was denied within minutes. Didn't try to spam it or anything. Just tried again. We will see...

so just to be clear, if i get AT&T to unlock my phone via this method, its the same as paying the $99 or whatever from one of those websites that will unlock it? I can literally pop in any SIM card and use the phone after AT&T unlocks it?!?

Yes, it's a permanent unlock and will work with another carrier's SIM card.

yes that is what the denial said.

I just got my unlock email. I did the request late Friday night, and just got my email just now (Wednesday) saying it's now unlocked. My phone is on the Next program.

Personally I don't need to have the phone unlocked, but ya never know what the future brings, so it's nice to have options.

Thanks for the heads up.

It increases the resale value even if you never use the phone on another carrier.

Also maybe you will win a sweepstakes and get a free trip to Europe, you never know!

Hey ya I would love to win a free trip to Europe. :)

So since the phone is now unlocked, I don't have a different sim to immediately test it, what if I don't put in a sim for a year, will the unlock still work fine?

The unlock is permanent. If you want to test it, anyone you know with a nano SIM phone on another carrier, you just pop their SIM card into your phone and you can see if it is unlocked.

You also can do a backup to iTunes, then reset the device and then restore from the b/u through iTunes - you will get the congratulations your device is unlocked message if the phone is unlocked.

I think there is a new iOS out now though so make sure you would want to upgrade the iOS if you do that.

Success on my spare 5s which is still under contract until September and it took only one try. Also, worked on my wife's iPhone 6, which is on NEXT. Took two tries only.

AT&T must hate me! Probably tried over 20x..

Still waiting for my 3rd prepaid request...

Alright, 2 minutes after submission, i got my unlock email. This is what it says:

Congratulations! Here are your unlock instructions:

1. Open iTunes on your Mac or PC and verify that you have Internet connectivity.

2. Ensure the original SIM card that came with this device is inserted in your iPhone.

3. Connect your iPhone using the dock connector to USB cable that came with your iPhone.

4. Backup and restore your iPhone using iTunes. For information on backup and restore, please visit http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414.

5. After restoring, your iPhone will be unlocked.

MY question now, Do i have to restore the phone for this to work? And is the only way to verify its unlocked is to insert a non-AT&T SIM?
