Just wanted to add my experience... I've got three iPhones I'm trying to unlock... an iPhone 6 that I got from Apple on launch day with NEXT, an iPhone 6 Plus refurb that I got just got three days ago through ATT on NEXT, and my wife's iPhone 6 that she got from apple on launch day with NEXT.

I submitted several requests for my 6 plus yesterday and this morning and each time they come back denied almost immediately.

I submitted one request for my 6 yesterday and it's still being processed. I'm not sure if that's a good sign or a bad sign.

I submitted one request for my wife's 6 this morning (I didn't have her IMEI number yesterday) and it came back approved almost immediately.

I'm hoping that the other 6 gets approved as well because I'm planning to sell it soon and selling it unlocked should definitely help. My wife and I may be traveling internationally later this year (we have family that lives overseas), so getting our phones unlocked will definitely be helpful.

I wonder if the difference is that for my phones, the one that was approved and the one that's still pending were purchased from Apple and the one that keeps getting denied was purchased from AT&T. What about the rest of you, where did you purchase your phones and were they approved or denied?

I don't think it matters where the phone was purchased. For example, my iPhone 6 was purchased from AT&T (NEXT) and the unkock request was approved instantly.
Just have to wait it out, and if denied try again.

No idea what's their policy.

Well, their official policy is to not unlock any phones that haven't either fulfilled their contractual agreements or have been paid in full. This thread suggests that things don't always go according to policy.

Unfortunately I am 0-2 right now. Just submitted a third.

Yeah I know but here I meant may be they have fixed the loophole at their end.

Perhaps. I can say that I submitted a request when I got the phone for the hell of it (before this thread got my attention) and was denied then too.

Perhaps there was a glitch? I am insure exactly what goes on behind the scenes with unlocking. Does a live person actually review the info?

Since we are getting a reply instantly I don't think there is a real person reviewing the info. I think it's the computer. I submitted the unlock for my 6 yesterday its approved. And no luck for 6 plus.

I wonder why it has taken me almost the full 48 hours

Just got my third 6 plus denial.

Has anyone who waited more than a few minutes been granted an unlock?

Saw this thread today. Submitted my request about noon and just confirmed my phone is unlocked (used a Tmobile sim). About 5 hrs from submitted to unlock confirmed. Thanks for the post OP. Now waiting/hoping they unlock my wife's phone.

Update: Well, ATT just unlocked my wife's phone in about two hours from request.

People are getting their iPhones unlocked and we are denied again n again. This isn't fun.

I just did a back up and restore. How do I know if the unlock is successful? Do I get a prompt or notification on my iPhone or on iTunes?
I got it in iTunes, right after the part of the restore where the phone gets wiped.

Thanks! I just got the notification. I didn't realize I had to erase all content from the phone and restore from back up. As soon as I plugged in the erased phone I got a carrier settings update notification, updated and got the unlock message! :)

I wonder if the unlock approval "loophole" has anything to do with where you bought your iPhone from. I bought both of my iPhone 6s from Apple, and my unlock requests were approved. One of my friends bought his from AT&T and was denied even after several attempts. It's possible that AT&T has more accurate record keeping if you bought it directly from them.

For those of you who have been successful getting your iPhone 6 unlocked under contract or NEXT, where did you buy yours from?

i bought my 6 and 6 plus from AT&T. both of them were approved. My brothers 6 plus was brought from Apple(on contract with AT&T) i think and its denied.
