The last time I priced a maxed out 16" Mac Book Pro, it was reaching for $7,000 usd. I really hope I'm not shell-shocked from whatever Apple releases this round. I'm currently running off of a maxed out 2013 MBP which is barely hanging on for dear life.

If apple offered a build option for the m1x in the 24" imac, traditionally would that be a new model # that would show up in this database?
Probably, because it’s a new model. What’s the model naming convention for iMacs as of now? We might be able to glean a potential # based on the string info, similar to a VIN.

I've been happily holding on to my maxed-out late 2015 MacBook PRO for something great. This M1X MBP could be the ticket. I won't make the swap until a few months pass to make sure, but my hopes are high that they got it right.

It really only gets crazy if you’re trying to do like 8GB of SSD 😆

Whatever comes out with M1x/M2 whatever and 32GB Ram I'll buy. I'd prefer a mac mini but I suspect that won't be an option in short term

"The new MacBook Pro models are expected to ... do away with the Touch Bar in favor of a standard row of function keys ..."

After spending a week with an M1 MacBookAir (sooo blazing fast), I can honestly say, the loss of the Touch Bar will be a huge downgrade! Hard function keys miss out on a million little benefits of the TouchBar. Been using it since 2016 (MacBookPro) and for all the ways it's half baked, it's truly 1000% better than hard function keys.

People really buy Apple watches? Amazing. I thought they were more of a novelty item.

Is anyone else bothered that this render has 2BT/MiniDP.
It’s just a speculative illustration done by someone who may have less knowledge of the recent rumors than we do who read ALL the rumors.

The rumors suggest ports for: MagSafe, headphone, hdmi, sd card, along with 2-3 USB-C/TB4 ports. There could be a USB-A but likely not. There might be Ethernet if there is room or it might be on the power supply like the iMacs.

Only two new Macs likely means no Mac mini this year. And I've been waiting so patiently!!!

I really hope it doesn't take that long, because as per Gurman:

Looking ahead, Gurman says that the new MacBook Pros with more “M1X” processors are still on track for a release in the “coming months,” while a new high-end Mac mini will come “soon after that.”

"soon after that" better not translate to 2022.
I would bet that they update the mini at the same time they release the larger iMacs. That could happen in late Q4 but seems more likely in Q1:2022. The Gurman article throws the mini and iMac together with the Mac Pro and talks about “by Nov ’22” but once Apple has the M1X/M2 chips for the new MBPs, they should be able to use those in the larger iMac & mini and get them out sooner. No reason to hold off to the end of the year. I do expect the Mac Pro to be the last model as it will need some significant changes in Apple Silicon to match current performance. That could easily land in November.
