Good for the people who have been waiting. I for one am perfectly content with the 2012 Quad i7, 8GB, 256GB/1TB Fusion I picked up for $600 on MacRumors Marketplace.

A 200mhz speed increase probably.

I think it's prob going to go from the current 2.5 Ghz i5 which is an ivy bridge part to a 2.6 Ghz Haswell. It will benchmark faster than a 100mhz increase though. This is for the base model.

It could have 8GB ram by default, or maybe a £50 price cut. I doubt it gets cheaper and more RAM though.

I'm betting they will shrink the heck out of it and in the process make it near un-upgradable, which can be good and bad, but I'm thinking with about the same footprint at about 1/2 the height.

There is a lot of 'wasted room' inside the current version. You can currently upgrade the memory and add a second drive relatively easily, and we all know Apple doesn't like that. :D

If not upgradable, I'd the be done with the mini too. The current mini is small enough, lets not give up user upradability AGAIN for a "wow, that is small" effect. Some people need to use these....

Perhaps a redesign and US manufacturing?

Theoretically, could a Mac Mini be as small as an AppleTV?

That would mean reducing the interior volume of the case by a factor of 5. Apple TV is 3.9" on a side 0.9" high (13.69 cu. in.), Mac Mini is 7.7" on a side, 1.25" high (74.11 cu. in.)

It's at least possible, considering what can be packed into an iPhone. It would severely limit the number of i/o ports it could host (say goodbye to Firewire, HDMI, SD card slot, and maybe even Ethernet, all replaced by Thunderbolt adapters/Thunderbolt external i/o hub), and is definitely dependent on having Flash storage and soldered RAM. It also would likely need an outboard power supply.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Mac Mini looked like this lol. Actually, why not? What if Apple instead decides to create a Mac Pro Mini instead?

Referbs

Looks like the Apple US and Canadian referbished Store is out of Minis... Hmmmm???

What if Apple instead decides to create a Mac Pro Mini instead?

Christman, Hanukkah, Festivus, or whatever occasion one celebrates by giving grief and gifts comes early this year.*

Prices starting at $799 AND include at least an option for discrete graphics.

Generally, Apple considers anything up until October 'mid' for model year purposes.

Not quite, here is the list of 'late' models for the last couple of years:
  • rMBP, Late 2013, introduced: October
  • rMBP, Late 2012, introduced: October
  • MBP, Late 2011, introduced: October
  • MBP, Late 2008, introduced: October
  • iMac, Late 2013, introduced: September
  • iMac, Late 2012, introduced: October
  • iMac, Late 2011, introduced: August
  • iMac, Late 2009, introduced: October
  • Mac mini, Late 2012, introduced: October
  • Mac mini, Late 2009, introduced: October
  • Mac mini, Late 2006, introduced: September
  • Mac mini, Late 2005, introduced: September

And now for the ones with a 'Mid' label:
  • rMBP, Mid 2012, introduced: June
  • MBP, Mid 2012, introduced: June
  • MBP, Mid 2010, introduced: April
  • MBP, Mid 2009, introduced: June
  • iMac, Mid 2011, introduced: May
  • iMac, Mid 2010, introduced: June
  • iMac, Mid 2009, introduced: April
  • iMac, Mid 2007, introduced: August
  • Mac mini, Mid 2011, introduced: July
  • Mac mini, Mid 2010, introduced: June
  • Mac mini, Mid 2007, introduced: August

And finally the 'Early' label:
  • MBP, Early 2011, introduced: February
  • MBP, Early 2009, introduced: January
  • MBP, Early 2008, introduced: February
  • iMac, Early 2013, introduced: March
  • iMac, Early 2009, introduced: March
  • Mac mini, Early 2008, introduced: April
  • Mac mini, Early 2009, introduced: March

The rule seems fairly simple, dividing the year into three 'seasons' means each 'season' is four months long and thus:
  • Early: January, February, March, April
  • Mid: May, June, July, August
  • Late: September, October, November, December,
with only one exception in 2011 where there was a 'Mid' iMac release in May and a second one in August and to differentiate between them the latter was labelled 'Late'.

iMac 27" Mid 2014 too?!

I'm also seeing an iMac 27" Mid 2014 on the list in the iMac section.

I thought Apple only updated the 21" this year? Would that also mean an updated 27" iMac will soon be released?

Meanwhile, while everyone is talking about a mid-2014 MacMini...

What the heck is this???
