Perhaps a redesign and US manufacturing?

Theoretically, could a Mac Mini be as small as an AppleTV?

US manufacturing won't happen. The Mac mini is too high volume. There's a reason only the Mac Pro is made in the USA. It's low volume and heavily automated.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Mac Mini looked like this lol. Actually, why not? What if Apple instead decides to create a Mac Pro Mini instead?

My thoughts exactly. In the long run, would it save Apple money to adapt Mac Pro's chassis to the mini than to continue using and milling a distinct mini enclosure? And would it make sense for a low-margin product?

Exciting news. I don't really need another Mac but I'll definitely consider deploying a Mac Mini in my home when these are available. You can never have too many computers around.

Don't hold your breath.

Seems like you need a Macbook Pro (15"), Mac Pro or iMac to get that.

Iris graphics aren't bad for day-to-day use and some minimal gaming. That's of course assuming that the Mini gets the same processors as the 13-inch Retina Macbook Pro.

I really hope the 'cheap' iMac hasn't killed the Mini. Having Monitor and Display in the same unit is a MASSIVE waste of resources. If they kill it off, I am not sure what to do, I hope Apple will see the light and give me a NEW Mini!!!!!

If it did get the similar small cylindrical look as the Mac Pro, it would make it look consistent. However I'm not sure how the Mini will be in terms of internals.

They have two choices, either they take the 13-inch Macbook Pro Retina internals and put them inside this Mac Mini (which is what Apple usually does) or they decide to make a power down version of the Mac Pro, i.e. Mac Pro Mini.

So far, we've seen the low cost iMac having the internals of a MacBook Air. Would it make sense for Apple to follow this trend, and having the internal parts of the Retina MacBook Pro inside this Mini? My guess is this is what they're gonna do.

There is always the possibility that Apple may decide to make a smaller version of its Mac Pro, but obviously sacrificing performance and pricing.

As to whether its coming out this year is debatable, but honestly I don't see a reason to release a Haswell Mini. It would make sense for Apple to release a Broadwell based Mini next year. I think that Apple probably had plans for a Mid 2014 Mini but since Broadwell isn't here yet, it was postponed.

Been wanting a Mini for about a year now. I just hope it has the Iris GPU (I know we won't see nvidia in there), an i7 2.8 GHz (or faster) configuration, and USB 3...

Doesn't it already have USB 3?

If there is a refresh, it'll probably have Iris Graphics, 802.11AC, Thunderbolt 3, cheaper or standard SSD, and some sort of a redesign.

Upgrade

From an engineering perspective, wouldn't it be a fairly easy process to upgrade to the new processor? Seems like Apple should do that by now. Or they should consider killing the device. There is a certain point in time when a company like Apple is damaging its reputation by selling too outdated technology. I feel like there are a lot of items in their catalogue that are dangerously close to damaging their reputation.

And for the life of me I've no idea why. I love my 2012 Mac mini, but it'd have to be something VERY special to have been worth waiting this long for a 2014..

Goes by the user. I just purchased my mother one. Would a 2014 be faster? Absolutely. Will she notice? Never.
