I just got a text from someone (truth be told I am unclear who lol) saying the iPhone activations number has been disconnected. I tried calling and can confirm this. :(

Is that said phone number just to activate iphone 2G phone or to activate any AT&T phone? Or maybe the number has changed?

Just got an email from an AT&T contact confirming they shut that number down.

Although like you, I wonder if the number has just changed because they think we MIGHT have gotten access to the number as a public...or if the whole thing just got disbanded altogether...

:(

My only thoughts on this is that the number really was a public number. I mean it comes up, in an automated email, when you activated your phone (in some instances). I could be wrong here, of course, but I just don't think this number was supposed to be a "secret".

Also, iTunes is still just activating phones even with blank (never before activated) sims. So long as this is occurring, it won't much matter if this number is down or not, unfortunately.

It's just for 2G phones, as far as I know, as that is all that is activated remotely, by "anyone" (referring to a non-ATT or otherwise affiliated employee). Certainly the number could have changed. I am not one to give up until things are confirmed, which is why I am still going! That said, all of this seems like to much of a coincidence to me.

Hi there everyone.

Just got an email earlier from the person id been talking to "on the inside" saying that they have officially closed down the loophole. It apparently had been in the working since August. They signed another an agreement with Apple, & apparently spent a pretty penny doing so, to stop activating the iphone 2Gs all together. So now all you can do is call 611 after it has been activated, and then pick from one of their currently offered data plans. again this is what im being told from who i would gamble on as being a dependent resource...

So at this point im almost certain that it is no more..(sigh)
sorry everyone.

But i would love to have just lied to everyone here, and apoligze and say i was wrong. Dont think ill get the chance too though....

I hope Everyone has a Merry Christmas Eve, & Christmas with their families.

lordofthereef, unlimitedsway or anyone else....is there any other way to get unlimited data on an att line? i just came to att from sprint because the data was terribly slow on sprint. if there is any other way, whatever it is, please let me know or private message me.

Thank you.

No, there is not, at least not that I am aware. I believe they do allow it for coporate accounts but the data line alone is something like $60, and you need a corporate account.

Once again I want to give a shout out to Unlimitedstheway for getting me unlimited data in November. I am sorry to see the loophole closed but then again I guess there really isn't much point to unlimited data when AT&T throttles you to 50Kbps after exceeding 2GB now. ):

I'm at 4.5GB used for my current billing cycle which ends on the 6th of this month, and my speeds are not limited.

You are lucky then. Many are reporting all over the internet that their speeds are reduced after 2GB.

I think it might be varying by region or something. I am using a lot of Netflix lately and my usage for today hasn't been added to my overall usage. I bet I am over 5GB tomorrow morning. I am honestly just trying to see if/when they will reduce my speeds.

Hey there thanks Matt!
Im glad that i could get you on board before it ended also...
& yea we all knew that it would end eventually.

Im glad that i could help so many people.

Has anyone's FAN discount kicked in after being setup?

Did you get your FAN situation straightened out? Ive been trying to find someone to do it for me, it appears the initial contact i made when someone who joined MR and was doing unlimited data for ppl isn't doing it any longer, or has just been to busy lately i guess. did you go through Lord of the Reef or what?

one of my Fans kicked in, but the other one never did. one was on ATT and the other was Sprint.

So I guess this loophole is dead? Seems att is not even allowing unlimited data to be transferred from one att customer to another.............

Unlimited data can be transferred at the corporate store, not over the phone.

So if you purchase unlimited data over ebay, how would i be able to obtain it if i purchased it over ebay? Does the seller and I need to go to the same corporate store? what if seller is in different state?

I don't know. I didn't do an Ebay transaction. My cousin and I were on a family plan. He recently got married and wanted to transfer to his wife's family plan. C/S would not do it, but we were able to get the corporate to take care of it for us.

Why would you people resurrect this dead thread after all this time? Its been CLEARLY stated that AT&T closed this loophole in December.

Move on!!!
