With all the problems I'm reading on here I'm unsure whether or not to upgrade from my 6 plus to a 7 plus I may just go to a 6s plus instead. Are there really that many problems with the 7 plus. Any insight would be greatly appreciated on this.

I went from a 6 to a 6s (not plus). I could barely tell the difference, except for the large hole in my bank account. This is the first time, after upgrading every year since the 4s, that I've felt like I wasted my money. That's the main reason I haven't bought a 7. Maybe next year. Maybe.

The 7/7+ is a great phone plagued by typical poor inconsistent quality control. Getting one new with zero issues is seemingly like winning the lottery. Buy one at an Apple Store and look it over CLOSELY during the days that follow (you have 14 days) and if anything appears wrong TAKE IT BACK and try another or wait it out.

To help you somewhat here is a short list of possible issues:

1. Creaking clicking sound when handled.
2. Hairline scratches in display. View the display in direct sunlight or under LED lights with the display off.
3. Yellowish display. View the settings page to see if it appears rather warm yellow. Brightness max, auto off.
4. Distortions or waves in glass.
5. Excessive hissing or buzzing noise emanating from back of device.
6. Gaps between display and aluminum body.
7. SIM tray flush to surrounding body of iPhone.
8. Home button smooth, no sharp edges surrounding it.
9. Charging port not sticking out beyond surrounding aluminum.
10. Dust under camera lens.
11. Check clarity of sound from earpiece during call, should be loud and clear.
12. Overall check of entire device from mishandling during assembly. Look for scratches, dings, dents, etc..

The iPhone 7+ is fine. If you need a new phone get one.

If you buy from AT&T, can you return it at an Apple Store?

No, but you can take it in for service at an Apple Store.

I upgraded to the 7+ from a regular 6. My phone has been great. I have had no issues with it whatsoever. It's important to remember that people who frequent these forums are usually here because they are having issues. It is because of this that you see nothing but people with issues but it is probably not an accurate representation of the majority of people who are well and happy with the phone.

there aren't problems

people on here just post threads about issues they are having. Doesn't mean most aren't really happy with theirs.

Stick with 6S, same performance and better quality. 7 is a cash grab using cheap materials and low grade everything.

If you're coming from a 6 or older, due an upgrade, not concerned re cost or love having the latest tech - iPhone 7 is the phone to have.

If not - I agree on the cash grab element. This is still an iteration of the iphone 6. calling it an iphone 7 is just marketing bull. and the iphone 7 will be out the window and forgotten next year with a completely redesigned iphone.

Your feelings are valid. Took me 3 Pluses to get the perfect Plus. Mine is week 41. No hissing, no yellow screen, no issues at all. I think it's safe to say that Apple has remedied the issues, and you are good to go.

I respect your opinion, but that's completely anecdotal. We don't know if Apple remedied anything and 'Week 41' is just a number. My iPhone 7 and 7 Plus is week 34, which both have zero issues. I could allegedly say week 34, Apple remedied all Issues and others may disagree. I think iPhones have issues sporadically, some units are good and others are faulty. It happens. There is no evidence of Apple correcting anything. Many who received their iPhones on launch day, the one's I'm aware of, have had no issues.

The only way to truly know if Apple addressed any "Issues" in a particular week, is if Apple acknowledges these issues, which is unlikely.

I would honestly go with the 6S Plus and also hope you get it on iOS 9.x.x and keep it there until the major bugs are worked out of iOS 10. There isn't much of a benefit of the 7+ over the 6S plus and you get to keep your headphone jack, plus a tried and true hardware package with the slim possibility of coming with iOS 9 another tried and true OS.

I have a week 37 7+ and the only "problem" with mine is the hissing you can only hear if you're in a dead quiet room and open an intensive app and put your ear to a certain part of the back of the phone.

If you're looking for a problem, you'll find it. It's a great phone, get it and enjoy it!!

Week 36 here, only issue I have is a slightly uneven screen tint. Top half is cooler than the bottom half, but I swear 10.0.3 addressed that issue. Before you could only tell on white screens, now I can hardly see a difference in tint.

Zero issues with iOS 10. Running 10.0.1
