With all the problems I'm reading on here I'm unsure whether or not to upgrade from my 6 plus to a 7 plus I may just go to a 6s plus instead. Are there really that many problems with the 7 plus. Any insight would be greatly appreciated on this.

I preordered a Matte Black 7+. It arrived:
  • no yellow screen
  • no buzzing sound
  • no issues with the speakers
  • no lag, no freezing
  • no issues with battery life
I used it for 28 days and finally exchanged it for a Jet Black model (would have done it earlier but Apple did not have any in stock). the new Jet Black model I got:
  • no yellow screen
  • no buzzing sound
  • no issues with the speakers
  • no lag, no freezing
  • no issues with battery life

Take this into consideration:

  • If the iPhone you ordered has any issues it is covered by warranty
  • People who DON'T have problems are not coming here to post how their new iPhone 7 "works like it's supposed to"

The 40+ pages of people complaining about poor battery life since iOS 10, plus the people complaining about their headphones not working, the frequent resprings, random freezing of system apps, hissing, buzzing, yellow screens, and the list goes on... Just begs to differ.

But it can't beg to differ with the fact that he's not having any issues.

It's like the threads from people having hardware issues, yet a lot of us are not experiencing any of these issues.

I would honestly go with the 6S Plus and also hope you get it on iOS 9.x.x and keep it there until the major bugs are worked out of iOS 10. There isn't much of a benefit of the 7+ over the 6S plus and you get to keep your headphone jack, plus a tried and true hardware package with the slim possibility of coming with iOS 9 another tried and true OS.

Zero issues with iOS 10. Running 10.0.1

I was expressing my opinion in response to something you said about iOS 10. Why is people who don't experience the same problem or issues are wrong and there opinions should be discounted. Why is it that only your opinion matters. You made a vague comment about iOS 10 and I offered a counter.

Several of the problems you listed are not iOS 10 specific. Do you even own on iPhone or just a troll trying to cause problems.

Always enjoy those "this thing sucks, poor quality, poor performance etc" comments from people who don't own one. I guess it makes them feel better, or smarter, something like that. Anyways...

No issue here. My 7+ works absolutely fine and I'm 100% satisfied with it. Love the screen, love the performance, and it can even make phone calls.

While I consider myself lucky with my 7 Plus (none of the various hardware issues discussed here) and am very happy with it, I'm not sure of the "100% satisfied" ratings people give. With 10.0.3, I still have very occasional software issues -- camera app blurred out on launch, had my phone become unresponsive for a couple minutes before it seemed to recover on its own, and last night, I unlocked my iPhone and the dock icons were missing. Scroll screen-to-screen, and no dock icons. Once I scrolled to the notifications screen, then back, the dock reappeared.

To have a hardware defect-free phone AND never have an OS / app issue I would agree would be like winning the lottery.
Me? I got the 5 numbers but missed the mega number! :)

Stop getting scared by a few people that have issues, mine is running smoothly

In my case, and I only speak for myself here, when I say 100% satisfied it also means I'm not freaking out when an app freezes or when a call fails, which happens very rarely. There are too many factors at play to conclude that the iPhone 7(+) is a failure or that it's "Apple's fault" or that the phone is poorly designed. My music works fine, my games work fine, battery life is great, the camera is great, and the phone does what I expect, make phone calls. So yes, I'm actually satisfied. I'm not bringing my Mac(s) back to Apple for an exchange every time an application crashes, or if there's a faint noise in the line out due to the internal circuitry.

Mine works fine. I'm swapping it solely to get a SIM-Free/Verizon model for resale purposes and carrier flexibility, but other than that, the phone works just fine.

Like others have said, specific tech forums will be the most critical with issues.

Waiting out another year is just not for me. I like gadgets, and selling my 6S now and using a 7 doesnt really cost me much if any more than if I waited. Phones depreciate pretty fast. Try selling an iPhone 6 now compared to a 6S and you'll see what I mean.

I understand a lot of people wanted a different design, but I don't think it's fair to tell 6S owners that their phone has the same performance as the iPhone 7.

I use a 6S for work and a 7 as a personal device. I notice the performance differences with everyday use. Pretty much everything on the device has been improved, I would upgrade personally.

iOS 10 also feels a bit more fluid and natural on the 7 to me. I think a lot of this has to do with the new home button and haptic engine being integrated throughout the OS.

I went from the 6S Plus to the 7 Plus.

Initially I got a 7 Plus and ended up returning it because I didn't feel the change was significant enough.

Almost immediately after going back to the 6S Plus. I noticed some things I missed from the 7 Plus. I don't think any change on the 7 Plus alone is a significant enough upgrade over the 6S Plus, with the exception of storage as I was running low. However, the smaller changes as a whole made it worth it to me.

IPhone 7
No stuck pixels
No yellow screen
No lag
Signal strength very good with Verizon
Battery life for my use is between two and three days, I am not a kid so I don't need games or movies
Absolutely no complaints at this time.
Had the iPhone 6s previously
That is all

I absolutely concur. Well stated.

You rebel, you. :D

And the whole reason for my post is why take that gamble when the 6S works and iOS 9 is rock solid?

Yes, because this forum wasn't filled last year with posts about yellow screens, loose buttons, etc. iOS 9 was perfect and bug-free, too. :D

If you can deal with the *no headphone jack* and with an extra dongle/adapter, the 7 series is great. I had the 6S+ and there was really no substantial reason to get the 7+ except that I have a new gadget obsession!

If I had to pick a reason, it'd be the extra gig of Ram on the 7+ which isn't really doing much right now..but might affect the performance in a few months..

If you have neither or a 6 series and prior, the upgrade makes more sense, IMO.

OMG - really? Go back and look at every hardware and iOS upgrade. Each and every one, with successive updates "has a problem". Forums are full of them. For everything. The question you should ask is how many devices have been sold and how many really have a problem. Don't forget the audience either. Go to an Audiophile forum and you'll see MANY people talk about major issues with everything including the speaker wire and how it has to be oxygen free copper and cost $1,000 a foot to really get the most out of your amps and speakers. This forum and others are full of similar "phonephiles". On the iPhone, one of the first issues someone made up was the camera lens not being sapphire crystal because it "scratched". That was debunked when discovered it wasn't a scratch, but too much pressure applied that broke the sapphire. Doesn't mean all issues are fabricated. You just need to weed through what's real, what matters and what doesn't.

I had the 6S+ and upgraded to the 7+. Glad I did it! Also upgraded to 10.1 today, the day it released. Rebel I know. But there are enough improvements in the hardware to justify the upgrade. There have been enough beta releases to critical "bugs" have been worked out.

When it comes to electronics, unless you have a budget issue, it's never a good idea to buy technology a year old. That is if you want something more than a phone and SMS machine.

Go with what you want and what will make you feel satisfied. But don't not go with the 7 because of some issues someone felt their device had and posted it in a forum. If there were major issues, they would be posted everywhere and not debunked. And chances are, they won't be discovered for years....like the display issues on the 6 after a year or two.

Best screen I've ever had on an Apple device (one of the only Apple devices I haven't returned at least once because of an ugly screen). The only issue is a piece of dust under the camera lens. 4 of 5 I looked at in the store had the same issue. It doesn't affect pictures, so until it does, I'm not going to bother with it. I'll only have the phone for a year, so it's not worth the effort to get a 'perfect' one.
