I preordered a Matte Black 7+. It arrived:
  • no yellow screen
  • no buzzing sound
  • no issues with the speakers
  • no lag, no freezing
  • no issues with battery life
I used it for 28 days and finally exchanged it for a Jet Black model (would have done it earlier but Apple did not have any in stock). the new Jet Black model I got:
  • no yellow screen
  • no buzzing sound
  • no issues with the speakers
  • no lag, no freezing
  • no issues with battery life

Take this into consideration:

  • If the iPhone you ordered has any issues it is covered by warranty
  • People who DON'T have problems are not coming here to post how their new iPhone 7 "works like it's supposed to"

Sounds to me like you got ripped off.

Quote : "My iPhone 7 is a great device : it works !".... Just foolish and above all just sad to have to say that Apple's new device is a great phone just because it is supposedly "flawless" from a rechnical point of view. :(:(:(

Upgraded from a 6 to a 7+. No issues, except once it froze, but I just did a soft reset and it was totally fine after. LOVE this phone! Do not regret my choice at all.

With all the problems I'm reading on here I'm unsure whether or not to upgrade from my 6 plus to a 7 plus I may just go to a 6s plus instead. Are there really that many problems with the 7 plus. Any insight would be greatly appreciated on this.

I have had my 7 plus since September. Absolutely NO issues at all!!!! Everyone else I know that have the 7 plus have had no problems!!

What problems? This is the best iPhone I've ever owned. Its a little buggy but that's more with iOS 10 not the phone itself.

Why the best ever, please ?

It is pathetic to love a device and see it as the best ever just because one has not got into trouble with it...so far.

No its not. Its great being happy and content with something and not driving yourself nuts about it.
What is pathetic is sitting there looking for minor imperfections and whining about it all day :D

I upgraded to a 7 Plus from a 6S Plus and regretted it very quickly. I couldn't tell any difference apart from the home button and camera, oh and the lack of headphone jack. I held both side by side and opened large games like GTA and there was barely a difference at all. One thing that really bugged me was the screen was not as bright or as sharp as the 6S Plus screen and whites were not as white. Disappointing really that I spent over a grand on the 256GB model. I went back 2 days later and returned it and went back to my 6S plus.

I had been obsessing about getting the 7 Plus matte black since it was announced, but I am happy with the decision I made. I will wait for the 8, hopefully we get to see an OLED display.

My advice, pick up a "like new" 6S Plus 128GB on Swappa for under $600 and save yourself the cash.

Ironically, Apple did NOT emphasize reliability in their September keynote; iPhone 7 was advertized for its supposed superiority in comparison to 6S. In this respect, 10 points were put forward, none of which makes a clear-cut difference from 6S, except maybe for the double speakers. What has triggered off the high demand for this new iPhone reveals its lack of innovation: the jet black model, for which the fans have been waiting for weeks and now keep whining that it is very prone to scratches. Others have experienced that 7 is neither water- resistant, nor water-proof, except maybe for the "happy few"... Apple just needed a new device, and they achieved a great marketing "tour de force". Now, 6 S is just as reliable and as efficient a device as 7, if not more, and it just carries a smaller number. But from psychological point of view, that makes a huge difference.

Mine is fantastic. Bright, beautiful screen, great camera (for a phone), great battery life, and no evident bugs. I miss the headphone jack terribly, but I obviously knew that was going to be an issue going in.

Read these forums after a product release and you'll always come away thinking its a disaster. I still remember the initial internet reaction to the iPod -- you'd have thought the company was burning to the ground.

For sure a speck of dust in the camera lens can be seen as a minor imperfection...

I've had mine for nearly 2 weeks and absolutely love it. Smooth as butter, fast as lightning, incredible screen and ridiculously good battery life. Maybe I got the unicorn!

And that's why they have the 14 day return policy.
If you change your mind or not happy with it just bring it back ;)

I dont have that issue but Im sure Apple will replace the device up to a year later from purchase date.

I too downgraded from a (refurb) 7 Plus to a brand new 6S Plus. The fact of having to rush to my local Apple Store every other day brought me back to good sense and reality. I do not regret it.

Sure they will, as many times as needed; but what lies behind this very flexible replacement policy is the poor quality of their device in terms of finish and reliability, supported by a very hefty demand. I could not accept the idea that getting a trouble-free 7 ought to be a lottery game. Apple advertized progress, not "caveat emptor".

No iPhone 7 is not a disaster, just predictable disappointment for some. Which means it is also a source satisfaction for others

happens all day long here at all macrumors forums.... "I have to find an imperfection....I have to...come on OCD, do your work!":eek:

in the mean time I fully enjoy my iPhone 7 Plus. My first Plus model since I started with the 3GS and up to the iPhone 7 (had the iPhone 7 for 2 weeks and swapped it out for a 7 Plus)

I had every iPhone since the original iPhone back in 2007.
I never had to keep replacing my device or feel like Im playing a lottery game. I had a speaker die on me once, another device had a problem with the home button. A few times that I had to visit Apple I got excellent service and my situation was resolved timely and professionally without multiple trips.
If you have to keep going back like every other day like you stated above then the issue is with you and not the phone or the company. Some people cannot be satisfied no matter what.

Well, my first 7 Plus became very hot, so much so that I brought it back to the store, where he passed away. Not a bug. They could not bring him back to life. RIP. The replacement one was producing a loud hissing noice from the back, plus the pictures dispayed obvious artefacts, making them look as if it was snowing in my living-room. I eventually asked for a refund and bought myself a 128 gb 6S Plus. Since then, everything has been OK. I am fully satisfied. Believe or not or get yourself blindfolded, these serious shortcomings, added to the other ones that are gradually coming up, only one month or so after release, show that iPhone 7 has been neglected. And who knows what issues may arise in the months to come, out of those so-called "isolated cases" ?

[SNIP]

As for Apple's after-sales, my experience is that their genuises are incompetent and their service is awefully time-consuming. To conclude, I keep thinking Apple has got what it takes to make very good devices, which they proved in recent past; which is why I got back to recent past and grabbed a 6S Plus.

Hey whatever works for you.
Me and millions of others are happy with our iPhone 7 devices.
There will always be bugs or defects here and there. When you mass produce a device by the millions there will be some defects.
Is how you handle them and the customer service that you provide that puts you above the rest.
At least iphones are not blowing up or catching on fire. I wont mention any names:D

The 7 Plus is a powerhouse iPhone and I use my 4.7 iPhone 7 for business. I'm fortunate to have the best of both worlds. Both are fantastic and couldn't be happier. And I have no issues with hissing or yellow screen. Pure bliss.

I agree, I regret upgrading from the 6s+ to the 7+. I miss my old 6s+ with 9.3.5 on it.

I had a problem with my initial 7+ with the NFC chip causing ApplePay to not work, but I got it swapped out and that problem is solved, and my replacement is fine otherwise, but I just don't think it was worth upgrading from my 6s+.

The things that irk me about the 7+ are basically, which I know are not issues, but just my opinion on them.

1) I don't like how the phone vibrates so much when playing music on the external speakers. I could care less about having stereo on the phone. I would much rather have the one speaker and no vibration like on the 6s+.

2) I don't notice the hiss coming from the back of the phone like some people, but I can hear the white noise type hiss when recording videos, which is annoying.

3) I really HATE the new home button, and would much rather have the old type home button back.

4) I really want the headphone jack back. I could care less about being water resistant. If you have personal problems that you need that, then get a Lifeproof case and give us out headphone jack back.

5) Apple really needs to finally figure out all these signal issues. In their quest to fix the Verizon signal issues with the 7 and 7+, they totally messed up my AT&T service. My wife and I for a long time always got FULL bars of signal at our house. On my 7+ and her 7, it was still fine until 10.0.3 came out and just as bad on 10.1. Now we get ONE bar of signal at home, on both our phones. Just to check, I put her sim back into her old 5s and it stayed at FULL signal without fault. Put sim back in her 7 and it will start at full bars, and after less than a minute, it goes back down to ONE bar. I had to turn off VOLTE on our phones because at home the signal being so low is message up talking on the phone. And battery drains a little quicker now at home because of low signal.

So ya, if I had a time machine, I would go back to September and tell myself....DON'T DO IT!! :)

Man thanks for all the help.....I really appreciate it, will prolly pick one up around march I buy mine straight out at tax time kinda my Christmas to me...lol....

I haven't had any signal issues with my 7+ on Verizon, thankfully. The headphone jack hasn't been a problem at all for me, even though I was afraid it would be frustrating. And the home button is my favorite thing about the phone! I always hated the feel of the old home buttons - sometimes they clicked weird or felt loose. The new home button gives the same click and feel every time. I picked up my 6S yesterday to set it up as a music player, and I was instantly annoyed by the old button. I guess it's all a matter of personal preference, but I'd say there's probably no going back to the old buttons, so you'll have to get used to it.
