Seriously, the naming scheme has really gone crazy if this is true. It could have been so simple.
  • iPhone (6.1” LCD)
  • iPhone Pro 5.8” (OLED)
  • iPhone Pro 6.5” (OLED)
Done. Super simple and nicely mirrors the iPad line with both an entry level and a “Pro” level that comes in multiple screen sizes.

Or, even better:
  • iPhone SE (6.1” LCD)
  • iPhone (5.8” OLED)
  • iPhone (6.5” OLED)
I really hate the idea of a “pro” moniker on an iPhone. What would make this years iPhone more “pro” than last years iPhone?

I wish Apple had the self confidence to finally do that. And I hope those new rumors are not true. It would be pathetic. They already messed around enough with iPhone names. Stop the madness and streamline your products including their names.

Max is such a bad idea.

If they move this nomenclature to the iPad would it be called the Max-iPad?

They need to just have a Pro, and a non Pro model of everything and only have two sizes - the larger screen size being the 'plus'.

For example:

iMac (24" iMac)
iMac Plus (27" iMac)
iMac Pro (24" iMac Pro)
iMac Pro Plus (27" iMac Pro)

Macbook (12" MacBook - forget the Airs)
Macbook Plus (14" MacBook)
Macbook Pro (13" Macbook Pro)
Macbook Pro Plus (15" Macbook Pro)

iPhone (iPhone 8)
iPhone Plus (iPhone 8 Plus)
iPhone Pro (iPhone X)
iPhone Pro Plus (iPhone X Plus)

iPad
Ipad Plus
iPad Pro
iPad Pro Plus

Mac (Mac mini)
Mac Pro (Mac Pro)

Apple Cinema (24" cinema screen)
Apple Cinema Plus (27")
Apple Cinema Pro (24" w/ built in eGPU)
Apple Cinema Pro Plus (27" w/ built in eGPU)

I can't help but chuckle - does anyone else find the name to be humerous?

"Ten S Max" just sounds funny

People are going to buy it regardless though!

Max is like a name on a cat too, miao o_O
Maybe take back the cat-names to the devices?

@groove-agent Fairly good idea. They should clean up in the names. Though introductions of new products seem to attract the 'need' for additional naming. And as Tim wants many products, it will keep growing. Not that I dislike it, I like it to.

But you forgot the best iPhone ever, the iPhone Mini (SE) :)
And the iPad Mini also have an important place.

“iPhone Xs Plus" is a mouthful and difficult to say, but "iPhone Xs Max" is easier to pronounce.“

iPhone 6 Plus
iPhone 6S plus
iPhone 7 Plus
iPhone 8 Plus

But iPhone 10S Plus is a mouthful

What the heck does this even mean?

Plus
Max

In what native language is one harder to say than the other?
Macrumors thinks that one more letter is harder to pronounce then one less letter. Sounds about right for macrumors
