There's no chance Apple will use this branding. None.
It doesn't matter anyway this is the high-end smartphone everyone will desire and aspire to own. It will be the best iPhone Apple has ever made.

the problem is that by now the boxes were already printed and it is quiet easy for someone to leak the information - anyway XS, XS Max are all idiotic names and if the pricing of $799, 909 euros and 1149 euros are a turn off.

I don’t believe so either. I think will it will be the Xs for both models and the larger phone will simply be ‘6.5 Xs.’

I’m sure Max is a name that’s been thrown around internally, but probably as a placeholder when they decided early on that Plus wasn’t gonna be used. Like employees called the notch “the ears” before it launched, I’m sure they’re just using max as a way to differentiate in conversation.

I’m confident they’re smart enough to just go iPhone Xs and then differentiate by size. It works well for literally every other product they sell.

Apart from the price drop being way too good to be true, I now think on a technical level it make sense.

$349 - iPhone SE 2
$449 - iPhone 8
$549 - iPhone 8 Plus
$699 - iPhone 9 LCD 6.1"
$899 - iPhone XS 5.8"
$999 - iPhone XS 6.4"

The beauty of this lineup is that apart from SE, all of them gets wireless charging and no 3.5mm jack ( Not that it is a good thing but it is standardise ) iPhone SE 2 also gets the A11 chip, same as iPhone 8.

The whole product line now includes GPU designed by Apple. And as promised in 2017 Apple to withdraw all PowerVR usage within two tears.

Than again, getting an iPhone 8 Plus at $549 this year is just way too good to be true.

iPhone 8 dropping $250 in price, 5.8” X dropping $100? Your right too good to be true.

I swear whoever names things at Apple is drunk and/or insane. I remember in my early days on this forum we used to make fun of Microsoft for their weird, convoluted naming schemes.

Let's hope this is a false rumor. That would be the least-Apple name ever. With a name like that, they might as well half the price and paint orange fire on the side of the thing.

There was a huge thread about the iPad name just before release as well, most people said it can't be true, well...it was.

Hope I am wrong though.
