What an awful noise... Real talent in those fingers... But can you sing or play an instrument?

Sorry, but you can keep this noise... I guess I have finely gotten old... :)

This is a great app, excellent tech. But being a dj myself, this isn't even coming close to cutting any equipment out of my process. I'm content with my Netbook and Behringer mixer while on the go, and my iMac and said mixer while at home.

The major advantage to using a netbook (or any laptop for that matter), is the ability to mix live elements (Ableton Live), such as fresh loops, voice samples, or even building your own tracks on the fly while mixing with other tracks.

Without any effects, eq adjustments, monitor, other inputs, or que set capabilities, this is just a fun app to play around with.

Reminds me of a similar app for the iPhone/iPod touch that lets you mix song elements together called Looptastic. That is the app I want to see made on the iPad, I would easily pay $20 for it if I had an iPad.

EDIT - Just saw they do have an iPad version for $15! http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/looptastic-hd/id363971496?mt=8

I DJ with Algoriddm's Mac version of this app, and their iPhone remote. OK, so it's hardly Ministry of Sound or whatever you kids are into these days (I do Northern Soul at the local pub, and small private parties when asked), but it's tremendous fun. The remote app means I can get on the floor and dance like a tit to my own tunes, whilst taking requests at the same time. The latency of the controller, FWIW, is nil.

An iPad version is exactly what I've been waiting for. But, I don't think I'm going to cough up the money until someone finds a workable solution to the stereo/cueing issue.

The wealth of possibility of the iPad in the audio space makes me think that Apple will introduce (or at least allow/enable) a multi-channel audio interface before too long.

Wow. Very cool demo. Reminds me of my college days. Incidentally, an iPad costs less than most professional DJ equipment (even the 64gb variety).

I think this will be really cool. iDJ by numark is not really that great..or good at all actually.

The iDJ2 was pretty cool and can still be found here and there.. but yeah, the first version was useless

Was this an attempt at trying to sound funny, witty or sarcastic?

This is easily the coolest app i've seen for the ipad, and the only one that has in any way convinced me that an ipad may actually be better than an ipod touch. Well done.

And if the iPad used an x86 CPU--which would have SSE instructions--that might mean something.
The post on the macrumors frontpage currently reads `SSE-like' which is correct: ARM cpus have a vector extension called neon. (Perhaps macrumors changed the post.)

I'm not sure this was written by the guys at algoriddim, I can't find anything on their homepage.
It looks cool but unless there's a way to output two different lines of music, one for play and one for queuing, it's worthless for real DJ's.
One of the main developers has been a professional DJ for ~15 years. He doesn't earn his money with it anymore, because he makes his living with DJay now. A second developer is also an avid DJ. They know their stuff.

Any word on the pricing? Couldn't find it anywhere.

I'd probably get it if it stays below a tenner.

Really? Under ten bucks? I use dJay on my MacBook Pro. It's $49 -- great app, great value. The iPad version does even more than the Mac version and you think it's worth less than ten bucks? No offense but that's a ridiculous expectation. Are you a DJ and have you even used the Mac version before? I think we need to be careful that we do not de-value the developer's work on an app like this simply because it is created for an iOS device.

Can't wait to buy this app.

I am appalled that the application looks like a washing machine and dryer set with children in them. SICK LOOK

If you're a DJ and you're using this App on your MB to power clubs can I listen to one of your mixes? I'm just of the the opinion that an app like this is more for bedroom DJs (MB or otherwise) than for real DJs.

Check out DJ Mixer

DJ Mixer App has these features on the iPad already and it is live in the App Store worldwide. Check it out here:

http://djmixer.fm/ipad/

If you install iOS 4.2 beta on your iPad and unlock the mix your own music feature you can import music from your iPod music library. On the day that iOS 4.2 ships by Apple you'll be able to use your iPod music. You can also import music files from your desktop using iTunes.

Here are some picts:

You can also do scratching and mix using 2 turntables on an iPod Touch or an iPhone not just the iPad:

DJ Mixer is already used by 2M music fans today. Here's a video of DJ Spooky playing a DJ Mixer with the App in front of 6,000 people in the Tate Modern London few months ago:

You can get DJ Mixer for free and play with the included promo tracks. It costs $9.99 to mix your own music.

You can also DJ with headphones using an iPad and another iPhone or iPod Touch to receive cue audio over Wifi. see: http://djmixer.fm/headphones/

Can you imagine going to a club where the DJ is using this and streaming it via AirPlay to the console and amps?

He (or a cute she) could literally walk the floor of the club and mix the soundtrack Live in the palm of their hands!

(Okay, I know that with the delay from Airplay and the lack of cue it probably couldn't happen, but it'd be bada$$ to walk in and see!)

You can already do that, sort of, you just need Ableton Live and a controller app running on an iPad (of which there are a number). So you can walk round the club and control Ableton Live through the iPad.

The delay isn't an issue - all club systems have a delay which is where the cue (or monitors come in). Not sure there is a problem with mono output when using the cue as a lot of club systems will be wired up in mono and even if they're not no one will notice or be bothered (unless it's club that prides itself on its sound system but there aren't many of them about).

Whilst it might work you aren't going to get any decent club dj's using it. I'd be surprised if it can handle time stretching two lossless tracks, let alone applying any effects and eq on top of it. Plus the current dj applications for laptops blow it away, it might be a lot cheaper but money isn't that much of an issue for most dj's - decent equipment is and always has been expensive.

...as someone with no familiarity with current DJ apps but who does like Electronic music, this looks really cool to me. I might be inclined to give it a try (in the privacy of my own home, of course).

I was thinking the same thing (headphones FTW!).

wonder if you could run it at home on your system with dual magic trackpads, one for each record! :) that'd be sweet
