I’ve been an Apple customer since the 90s and have never returned a product due to problems.
My 15 Pro is the first that is going back. My 13 Pro is a great phone. I just had Apple replace the battery and I’ll think it will continue to be my phone for a while.
Very unimpressed with Apple lately. The Mac Pro was also very disappointing and I’m seriously considering leaving Apple altogether, within two years, if they don’t get their act together.
- huge bezels (side bezels thicker than the original mini)
- narrower screen (4:3 aspect ratio was ideal)
- garbage display (worse quality than mini 5)
- no Face ID (6-year old tech)
- not optimized iPadOS (for this screen size)
- overpriced (64GB Wi-Fi for 650€ in Europe)
And the completely unoptimized os
The Pro of the ProMotion indicates it’s also a pro feature is it not? At least that is some people like to claim or explain why the non Pro iPhones are not with promotion.No.
That said, it’s also pretty obvious that the mini would not have ProMotion, if the iPad Air can’t get ProMotion.
Yeah that's how its marketed right now. It's only in the Macbook Pro, iPad Pro, and iPhone Pro if I recall correctly. The Pro of the ProMotion indicates it’s also a pro feature is it not? At least that is some people like to claim or explain why the non Pro iPhones are not with promotion.
I dont see the point of this upgrade if it happens.
Surely, the mini at its price point deserves at least the M1 processor and a better display.
Those, like me, that have the mini and have got rid of the larger iPads due to the mini's protability and utility... dont have much reason to upgrade if its such a lacklustre update.
Keeping the display as it is and simply upgrading the A series processor for another A series processor doesnt seem worthwhile. Im sure there would be more to it.
I think Apple needs to decide or understand the audience for the minis. We dont really want a mini 'standard' iPad along with its deficiencies AND higher price point - but a 'mini air' is more what the machine is - and therefore should have the M1 at least.
“In this years new iPad we sourced renewable baby seal bone to replace the aluminum and plastic internals.Literally anyone: so what's new?
Apple: We updated the processor!
*Cricket*
My son has the newest mini. He uses it for games and streaming. I’ve had to backup and restore the mini twice since June. It crashes often and apple support says “ restore the iPad “ of which I’ve done a few times. It has apple care and apparently a software issue doesn’t necessitate a send in for further investigation.I don't own an iPad mini, but i see two of you have mentioned the OS being unoptimized and i'm curious what that means in this context.
It’s just a dumb marketing term they made up. iPhone 15 is the most expensive phone on the market that still uses a 60hz screen. The Pro of the ProMotion indicates it’s also a pro feature is it not? At least that is some people like to claim or explain why the non Pro iPhones are not with promotion.
I experienced this too when using the Samsung S10e. When I switched to Apple (13 mini) there were almost none left (or I could tolerate it because Samsung was so bad). But none of them felt as comfortable as the LG G4's 500+ ppi IPS LCD screen 😭😭😭 Bring IPS LCD's back I'm begging 😩😩😩This isn’t even close to as big of a problem as PWM that everyone seems to ignore or sweep under the rug. OLED screens cause nausea and headaches in a considerable amount of people some of whom don’t even know where their symptoms are coming from. Fix PWM Apple!!!
Samsung and friends make panels based on what Apple and other companies provide to them. They don’t make displays with dynamic island or a notch and specific holes in certain places for cameras until someone like Apple has them make it.Not possible without losing color accuracy. Also, Apple doesn’t make their own panels, so it’s Samsung and friends who own the tech who would have to fix it.
I’ve had iPad mini ever since the first gen. I have a mini6. I also a a full spec brand new iPad loaded. Only difference is that the large one can run some software that the mini can’t handle. I’ve never motived jelly on any mini. I suppose if I watched a YouTube video on how to identify it I might find it.Jelly scrolling is only visible (to those who see it) in portrait mode. It’s not present in landscape. I imagine Apple has enough user data to know what percentage of users use the iPad in landscape vs portrait.
My wife doesn’t follow online forums, like most people, so she’s never been bothered by it on her iPad mini. I would hear about it if she had a complaint…
If there are extensive media coverage and reports everywhere, maybe? But as things like this always go: you can’t see what I see and you can’t hear what I hear. It is extraordinarily difficult to let general public to even be aware of the issue, let alone pushing Apple to fix it.This isn’t even close to as big of a problem as PWM that everyone seems to ignore or sweep under the rug. OLED screens cause nausea and headaches in a considerable amount of people some of whom don’t even know where their symptoms are coming from. Fix PWM Apple!!!
Lots and lots of 120hz LCD screen out there so obviously no.ProMotion is an OLED thing, isn’t it?
Lack of awareness is why this issue remains unaddressed, and likely will remain that way for years. Not possible without losing color accuracy. Also, Apple doesn’t make their own panels, so it’s Samsung and friends who own the tech who would have to fix it.
Not correct. iPad Pros have had ProMotion for a few years using LCD technologyProMotion is an OLED thing, isn’t it?
