Wishlist for an updated Mini 7:
  • A16
  • Significantly smaller bezels and more rounded frame edges, generally smaller/lighter. My Mini 5 was perfect as far as size/shape/weight (other than the screen size).
  • WiFi 6E
  • Updated cameras
  • 128GB minimum storage
  • Some kind of landscape-oriented smart connector to be usable with its own first-party keyboard attachment/case. The biggest downside for the mini for me has always been its reliance on bluetooth keyboards. Probably would be too small for a trackpad, but even just being able to type on real keys would make it immensely more useful for productivity tasks.
ProMotion would be nice, but not a dealbreaker for me. I'd much rather have double the storage.
They’d have to create a custom keyboard cover for the mini, and I wonder just how comfortable it would be to type on a keyboard cover small enough for the mini. Now I absolutely loved my 1st gen iPad Pro and the keyboard cover for it, but the mini sounds like a keyboard cover might be small enough to be difficult to touch type on (or would need multiple fn layers).

Would have been good if ProMotion was available. But will not be surprised by the lack of it.

To be honest, the Mini just isn't even worth it for most people. It used to be the cheap iPad, now it's become awkward and kind of overpriced.
The thing that draws most people to the Mini isn’t where it’s lots in the lineup or it’s price or bang for buck. It’s that it’s a Mini. I’m a spec queen who always has to have the new hotness. I always want the biggest screen/devices too. I’m an idiot who gets satisfaction from knowing I have the newest processor and blah blah.

But the Mini is my favorite apple device. Size is just so great. I can fit it in my pockets for work, hold it with one hand easily and not worry about touching the screen, screen is much bigger than the Pro Max iPhones so it’s better to show pics etc to people and not too big/heavy/awkward to use like some of the other iPads can be.

And the completely unoptimized os
Completely true. The mini size, especially the mini 6 is not optimised in a lot off apps, pretty annoying if things are not aligned. I just swapped it with an air 4, and the apps act more “normally” as one should expect. And yeah, even the OS act up sometimes, like my former iPhone mini 13 that couldn’t sometimes display everything properly. The worst thing is that you know it will never get fixed…..

Used to have used a 2018 iPad Pro with the 120 Hz screen. Now I use an iPad mini 6 with the 60 Hz screen, and when I upgraded, I didn’t notice much of any difference.
I actually like the mini better!
Same situation for me. I have the 2018 Pro but prefer the Mini 6 for what it brings as a comfortable tablet that does tablet things better than the Pro. I'd be lying if I said I don't miss the Pro Motion display but we only have the options we're given. For whatever reason, Apple refuse to make the perfect iPad.

It would be a better product if it ran iOS vs iPad OS

all devices these days should have 120hz and given it will cost £700-800 i bet it's a tough sell no matter how great the form factor is
