Does it really make sense to have 11" and 13" MBA plus a 12" rMBA ? 2 of those yes, so either 11" or 13" non retina plus the 12" rMBA or perhaps just the 12" retina ? Personally I'm waiting to see the retina MBA (hopefully) and MBA retina refresh to make a purchase choice at the end of the year.

This. I don't think a spec bump of MBA makes sense at the moment - for one thing...why ? They are plenty fast enough.

I got the current latest model. Think Ill wait for the retina version. This upgrade would be pointless for me.

I hope Apple has plans for other updates soon as well. Like the Mac mini and an iMac with this years GPU and CPU update. Would be nice to see something happening in the world of apple-2015

I wonder how much legitimacy there is to this claim? Time to sell my Haswell Ultimate MBA.

Why? This will just be a minor spec bump. Probably just to line up with the Intel chips that are most readily available.

Now if they also use next seek to sneak in a new Mac Mini that would be extra nice. Please Apple?

I was hoping for the iMac to be updated first. I only have half of the money I need saved for the 27inch, but I'm super excited to see the new specs.

I just got a 2013 MacBook Air.
For once I'm not too upset about new updates, because it is so awesome.

You can return your computer within 14 days for a full refund (if bought at an apple store in the US)
http://store.apple.com/us/help/returns_refund
Other stores have there own return policy

Then you can get the brand new (updated) one at the same price,
or order the old one at a lower price

"Hardly no-one was buying 2012 model of mini in 2014, and therefore we discontinued the mini".
No wonder that mini is mentioned already about 50 times in this thread.
Seems to be that only real mac hobbyist still wants to choose display and might even change the display in the middle of computers lifespan.
Normal people of course won't do this, since it's too much hassle, pretty much like upgrading ram or storage.

Do not agree. Air does not need retina, but TN technology is realy a shame now. Give air IPS display and many people will be happy air campers.

I understand about IPS. It's great having IPS than TN but it's not so great if it isn't retina. I can't picture myself going back to non-retina Macs...

What is the reason for not wanting retina? $$? Apple already slashed the price for 13" & 15" rMBPs...

I have ever only used Macbook and iMac and I was wondering why is mini such a desirable update? I'm curious because I have seen many comments about it around here.

I want a "desktop" computer. It's where my kid's settle into do their work. It's where I store all my photos. And even though I do back up pretty well, I still don't want my main photo library in a more breakable, more steal-able, laptop.

I also want a good desktop because I use itunes a lot - running through an apple tv. And of course, apple TV's now require a computer to be running constantly. A desktop will always be present, not borrowed by a child, at the offie when my wife wants to put on some background music, etc..

What about the iMac then? I don't want an integrated monitor / computer for the same reason that I don't like TV's that have a DVD / blue ray slot built into the side - And for the same reason I like that socks aren't glued into my shoes. I want pick and choose my monitors - and ideally have more upgrade options like desktops are Supposed to have.

And finally - why the desire for a new mac mini? It's because we pay a premium for Apple products. So - I'd like it if apple was more responsive to putting relatively current chips into their boxes. I buy PC's at work, and I think I'd be hard pressed to find a normal windows PC that still uses such old intel chips.

I do not have a good feeling about this one, it has been a long time since Apple released something good. Tim is sinking the ship!

Steve would never have allowed such a small "spec bump".

No? I don't know if you now the difference in spec between a early 2011 or late 2011 13" MacBook Pro?

Well, it's the difference between a 2.3Ghz Intel Core i5 (early 2011) and a 2.4Ghz Intel Core i5. The videocard, memory used etc is the same. No changes at all.

Talking about little spec bumps.. Steve was still alive. .

Steve would never have allowed such a small "spec bump".

Macbook Pros especially received mid-cycle spec bumps. Go to Everymac and take a look. This happened all the time. Even the Mini received slight spec bumps a few times.

Apple can't control Intel's processor release schedule. Either they do a minor spec bump (sing Haswell 2) or they don't release a new Air until "winter" (Dec-Feb).
