I have two Apple TV 2s and I absolutely love them. I also own an original Apple TV. It is a great concept and I am glad to see that Apple will keep moving it forward.

People will have fewer reasons not to get one especially if it supports 1080p. There is a lot of potential and you certainly cannot complain about its $99 price point. Its overall a great value.

Any chance they will fix the interface to give you more option. I like that more than the A5X cpu.

If it is retaining a $99 price point it is...

a) excellent, because the price is right.
b) sucks, because they probably didn't add a lot more than the processor and what it can do. 1080=excellent, SIRI=amazing, AirPlay=awesome.

If it can stream 1080 video from computer to TV without stuttering or halting, I'd be extremely impressed. That's a good deal for $99.

The PS3 is still a better device for home video server use. If this device can supersede or supplant the PS3, I'd buy.

yeah, "air"play needs a dongle for a physical connection?!?!? that makes NO SENSE!!!!!!

It makes perfect sense if you use your imagination.
A wireless, HDMI dongle for HD AirPlay mirroring.
No Apple TV needed.
Portable and usable with any :apple: device.

I hope that they will keep expending the functionality of this thing. So i don't have to buy a new tv when the iTV comes out:D

If you already have an Apple TV 2nd generation, why would you want to buy a new one anyway? Your not the target. Apple aims to sell these new ATV to new consumers, not people who already have a 1.5 years old ATV.

I totally agree. It is silly that folks think that every update should be so shockingly better that it forces you to upgrade. Even phones shouldn't be upgraded every year.

Now, I will probably get an upgraded Apple TV and with the older one out to another TV that I have at my family's beach house. If the product functions better in real life because of the processor upgrade, maybe I will also consider selling old Apple TVs and buying the new one.

But silly to think that it has to be such a huge upgrade as to make old one completely obsolete.

1080p is a given, but if that's all, then we won't hear about it at the keynote, as such an upgrade is hardly keynote-worthy.

OTOH, if it has App Store access (why not, if it has the capability due to an A5 SOC, and if it allows Apple to continue to increase its App Store revenue stream), that will open up a whole new realm of functionality and could change it from a "hobby" to a bestseller almost overnight. And the new accessory could be a BT control pad for it.

B82 = pressure sensitive stylus?

This will never happen... There is a reason the iPhone/iPad don't come with stylus'.

I think the new Apple TV will get the existing A5, not the A5X. The A5X will be reserved for the iPad 3/HD and the A5 can already do 1080p and that's all they need for TV.

If it can run apps from the App store, definitely want! Running Plex on it without Jailbreaking would be great.

I think you might have hit the nail on the head their. It's become a games console. The $39 accessory could be a controller. Apple have been pushing games for ages. Onlive is beginning to gain some traction, but if Apple were to enable games on the Apple TV in addition to the media features that would be a great product for both existing customers and new ones alike. It would also make use of a faster CPU, but 1080p might not be so much of a benefit.

And what would that reason be?

If Apple wants to make a serious push into the business world a stylus would be perfect. I actually do miss a good pen to scribble on the iPad .. and I am not talking about the pogo like pens that are hardly an improved over fingertips .. I am talking about a real accurate input stylus.

Steve Jobs actually said, "It's like we said on the iPad: if you see a stylus, they blew it. In multitasking, if you see a task manager, they blew it. Users shouldn't have to ever, ever, EVER think about that stuff."

I agree which is why I will purchasing one in the next couple of weeks.

$39.99 Optional Controller..... BAM!!!!!!!! MEGA BOMB.... Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft just lost the console wars..

$4.99 console quality games on the Apple TV

yeah Right. I want to play good quality games like uncharted,Call of Duty,Mass Effect, etc. None of this will even be possible on an Apple TV. I don't want to play Angry Birds type games. I want a game with awesome graphics and great story line. Nintendo, sony & Microsoft wouldn't even have to worry about anything if that were to happen since these type of games wouldn't even be possible on an Apple TV.

They mentioned BT, maybe the $39 product is a BT keyboard?

Naa. Too cheap, given the regular BT keyboard is near twice that price and should work with BT in the ATV.

I'll vote some type of BT remote.
