This event has all the suspense of a Microsoft announcement. ;)

There are more leaks in the Apple universe than the Titanic right now.

And yet people are still on the edge of their seats anyways. Why? Because despite any amount of details Apple puts on a good show.

Wow. While I'm not a fan of the whole "Doubling down on secrecy?!?" shtick, this one grabs my attention. Parts leaks are inevitable, and theres not much that can be done there. This is either completely on purpose, or just shameful.

I'm guessing this is completely on purpose. Besides, we always used to see leaks on launch day, even when Steve Jobs was there (remember the original MacBook Air, or even the lampshade iMac that was "accidentally" released by Time Canada a week before the "secret" announcement?).

Please don't turn iTunes into a Skeumorphised app similar to Music on the iPad, please...

I don't disagree, but I'd take a skeuomorphed interface in a second if it meant having a truly updated iTunes that was written for today's Macs. They have needed to blow it up and re-write it for 5 years now. It sounds like we may finally be getting a REAL new iTunes for only the 4th time ever.

I could be mistaken but I believe Apple has only rewritten the App from the framework up twice since 1.0. iTunes 7 was the last re-write if my memory is accurate.

If it's "new iTunes" I hope it's finally some software that does not suck.

Can you or someone else who says "iTunes sucks" explain to me what's is so wrong with it?
I guess the features I use are fine, but I'm really curious with what the complaining is all about.

If you look at the iTunes Store right now you'll notice that Fox and it's sister network FX have been removed from the main page of the TV Shows section.

Could just be a mistake but it makes me wonder if they have lost Fox like they lost NBC years ago.

Nice observation. I just checked and they're also missing from the Apple TV.

It's just an older code base that Apple has been tweaking for years. Almost all the changes have been interface only. You're right...iTunes has awesome features and I don't think it "sucks" either, but if Apple releases a truly new iTunes, you'll see huge speed gains. You may not think it's slow now, because we are all used to it, but it is. My 2.2gHz i7 MBP with 16GB of RAM it and an SSD should not take a few seconds to process album art. It should be instant. It's not a processor intense activity....iTunes is just out of date.

ahhh crap. I have no knowledge of the TV industry and I'm sure both Apple and the networks are both at fault for being stubborn. I just really really want to see an Apple TV (current form or otherwise) with a monthly subscription service. If Fox/FX dropped out, that doesn't look good for my wish.

There is an interesting article on the BBC website by the Fake Steve Jobs. He reckons Job's would be screaming at people the way the company has already gone in the past 9 months. They have gone from an innovative company to one that is conservative and they now copy market trends instead of setting them

Copying Android makers to increase the iPhones screen size. Copying them by making a possible smaller iPad.

Let alone all the parts etc that we have seen over the past few months. Yes leaks did happen under Steve, but nothing on the scale we have seen already under Cook.

He would be spitting feathers, but then as a visionary is no longer in charge and a bean counter is, it is to be expected I suppose.

janderson,

iTunes has become a bag of bloat. When first launched it would fly. No problems what so ever, now it takes a long time - relatively speaking - to do anything. It has never received a major re-write of code that all other Apple applications have. All they have done is add stuff, they have not kept on top of it as a application. Yes, it has some great features, but it doesn't do the basic ones very well anymore.

I wish they would just redesign it totally when it comes to iOS syncing and stuff. Explaining simple functions to a first time user is a pain, and some things are just not logical.

And it IS slow. It doesn't suck but it can be much better.

Yes, because designing an entire new iPhone/iPad and bringing it to market only takes 9 months.

oooh, maybe we'll get a new skeuomorphed iTunes that will help people understand what the application does... :D
