Get rid of wwdc. It is no longer "wow" event. If Apple brings up another oswatch update or another watch bands during this event, I would call wwdc world wide distasteful conference. I would like to see some hardware leaks. Next event is iPhone and probably another iPad or Apple Watch. Next year is probably iPad if they announce Apple Watch this year. And back to wwdc with software. And next year of sept is back to iPhone.

Wth? Bring out those macs!

Are you a developer? If not, you probably aren't the target audience for WWDC, as it appears Tim and company have been making an effort to refocus this particular event on software development rather than hardware announcements.

That said, Apple has never come out and said WWDC will be software focused going forward, so if there indeed are no hardware announcements and disappointment follows, that will be in large part the result of high expectations they could have avoided.

all i know is that it's getting comical of the lack of updates to the computer segment both laptops and desktops. I really hope that all of the resources for these updates didn't go to the watch.
I need a new laptop but i'm not buying something that's so outdated. I'm thinking of giving my Mac Pro to my brother cause his iMac is dying and me getting a new one but yet what's the point of upgrade to something that came out in 2013/14

You realize WWDC stands for World Wide Developer Conference and it is a conference intended for Developers. Apple started streaming the Keynote since that is where Apple unveils features of upcoming software which some of the general population was interested in. The focus of WWDC has always been software and what developers can do with the new software. You just think it should be scrapped because it isn't exciting to you...
You don't think Mac Pro is part of developer? How about Mac Pro 2013?

Except the Macbook Air has historically been their best selling model (and possibly still is). Unless they introduce a Macbook at a similar price point to the MBA then it still has a reason to exist.
I mean, if they make a 13 or 14" rMB with a usb-A port and drop the price, then it would be best selling

It's called the World Wide DEVELOPERS Conference for a reason. Hardware is not necessarily the focus, even though hardware has historically been released there (just not in the past few years).

what is the point of having a thin as hell macbook pro line, a macbook air line, and a macbook line. are we talking millimeters in differences now?

No I'm not. sure developers seeks out software and hardware, is it not?
How did nMP 2013 come about then?

Add a 13" MBA starting at $899 to round things off at the bottom. Yes, I know, we all have that inner reflex thinking that Apple shouldn't offer products we are not interested in or don't see as aspirational.

No, I just don't think Apple should be shipping a budget-focused, old-design, non-Retina Mac that competes in the price points of their iPad line. For years and years, Apple was fine not selling a sub-$1,000 Mac.

But, if they want to sell the 13" MacBook Air off to the side like they (for some reason) still sell the old DVD drive 13" MacBook Pro, than fine. Make it available on Apple.com, but outside of the primary Mac marketing pages. You should have to dig to find it.

Isn't the retina macbook smaller, thinner, and lighter than the macbook air? If it is, then what's the point of the "air" naming. Seems the retina macbook is more "air" like.

Exactly. That's why it's time to get rid of "Air" in any Apple product name.

It was about the transition from Power PC to Intel processors which would have had a large impact on OS X developers at the time so still mostly about developers...
Okay so it's basically both. Anyway. We will have to wait and see.

WWDC is a developer conference. New OSes, new APIs, new services. It's a testament to how much people like Apple that non-developers pay attention to it. Rarely, they make an announcement there that is for a larger audience, but otherwise it's a convention for the techiest of the techies.

If Apple wants to sell new Macbooks before school starts than they will announce at WWDC. IF wants to sell before holdidays than wait till Fall. Irrespective of when they announce, like to see Macbook pro after on diet, thinner, lighter. Other typical bells and whistles/upgrades, don't have to ask. Will be available.

What would make sort-of sense would be:

12" MacBook
13" MacBook Air (similar specs to the current 13" rMBP)
15" MacBook Pro ("Pro" because quad core and discrete GPU option)

...although thats less likely following the launch of the 9.8" iPad Pro

One thing that is for sure - the WWDC keynote script will be locked up tighter than the recipe for Coke and nobody who knows is saying.

Here's the logic:

Battery life has improved a lot since MagSafe was conceived. When you charge at your work desk or overnight, you should be able to route the wire safely. Now the battery lasts all day, those occasions where you had to drape the wire precariously across the floor in the middle of a meeting to get a precious top-up should be a thing of the past. On the other hand, when you are at the desk, you can just attach a single USB-C cable to a dock and hook up your display, backup drive, mouse, printer etc. and recharge - and, without MagSafe, the dock doesn't have to be an Apple one.

...and if you think that a watch or phone that needs re-charging every night without fail is any more use than an inflatable dartboard, how can you disagree?

The actual conference with its developer sessions, no. The CEO's keynote speech at the start of the conference, though, has long been a media circus.

The obvious problem with the WWDC keynote as a product launch, though, is that the conference date is probably set so long in advance, and constrained by so many factors that it's not a good basis for your product development cycle. I'm guessing a major factor in what gets launched is "what's ready?"

I can see that logic. I rarely charge my machine during the day. It's usually at night when I'm about to sleep or just browsing casually.

It is a developer conference...but a testament? So ... (non developers) it wasn't originally intended for them to watch live stream of it?

You bet. I don't disagree that most of the Mac line-up is overdue for on overhaul, I just think that people who are expecting it to occur at WWDC are going to be disappointed...
I haven't seen Mac Pros during any other keynotes. Lol

Question is, why doesn't Apple manage to lower the price of the 12" MB to $1000 yet? It's basically a iPad Pro with attached keyboard and trackpad.
The 12" MB comes with 256 GB of storage for $1299. The 12.9" iPad Pro costs $1099 with 256 GB of storage. The Core M processor in that $1299 MB costs $281 (according to Wikipedia). Apple gets a volume discount on that but also adds its ~40% gross margin on top of it, so it probably contributes at least $300 to the sales price of the MB. Apple's own ARM SoC likely is cheaper than that. Moreover, the SSD in the MB is higher grade (faster) and more expensive than the one in the iPad. The battery as well is higher-capacity in the MB.

If Apple could offer the MB at $1000 and retain a 40% gross margin, I'd guess they would do so.

Yes, this is a total mess based on your completely imaginary scenario.

The whining has gotten to the point that people are now making up random situations and complaining about it.
As well as low intelligence and aggressive behaviour of some people.

I prefer the MacBook Air above the MacBook. The MB is better in two ways: 1. Retina, 2. thinner. The MBA is better for me in the following 10 ways: 1. Three additional hours of battery life. 2. Thanks to the MBA being more powerful, you'll probably double the MB battery life in certain situations. 3. More powerful. 4. Larger display (13.3" is the smallest laptop I would own). 5. MagSafe. 6. More ports without need for dongle. 7. SD-card. 8. Better value for money (MB starts at €1,499 here). 9. I prefer the MBA keyboard. 10. Increased ability to leave charger at home and reduce carry weigh for 2-day trips (and yes, I do this all the time with my MBA and it's great).

Give give me the existing MBA with an updated proc., Retina and USBc. Leave everything else. I'll pay for it. The alternative is a thinned out MBP, but I know MagSafe, SD-card and other goodies will go. Progress? :-(
I totally agree with you. I bought a MBA last year and my only complaint is the lack of a retina screen. When you consider the price, battery life, port accessibility, weight and cpu power, the air is the best bang for your buck. Just give it a retina screen and watch the MBP line take a financial hit!

No, but I assume Apple is starting to feel the need for a MBP significant refresh, and would prefer not to keep the MBP line stale for another 3+ months (as they already need to keep the MBA stale, and don't seem to be able to introduce a 14" MBA at a reasonable price point).
The current MBP design was introduced in July 2012. Apple shooting for July 2016 for a redesign is not that preposterous. Apple has always varied the release of new MBPs by a few months either way from a clean 12 months mark. If we were to count Intel's Haswell-refresh in 2014 as a pseudo refresh trigger for Macs, then part of the deviation from a clean 12-months cycle on Intel. Indeed the cycle from Haswell-refresh to Broadwell for 13" MBPs was only 8 months (10 months for the 15" MBP, except that it only got a new trackpad, SSD and graphic card). Thus if Apple shortens the Intel-based one-year cycle to 8 months, it doesn't get credit. But when it then lengthens it for the next model to 15 months it gets blamed.
