My battery now is even a little better than before I upgraded to 4.3.1. It only eats 1% for the overnight.:)

I will only upgrade to 4.3.1 again if they have greenpois0n to JB and I don't have to instal ultrasn0w to fix the signal bar. One of those software really like to eat the battery.

I tried installing ultrasn0w again using the method posted on the dev team blog and my mms and vvm still wouldn't work. I don't understand why it's working for some people and not for others - almost makes me feel like there is a conflict somewhere that's causing the problem for me. Either way, it sure would be nice if they could fix this issue once and for all because I simply cannot use ultrasn0w in its current form.

Try removing and reinserting your SIM card. I lose the MMS after reboot, but removing and reinserting the SIM has fixed it everytime for me. Respring doesn't seem to effect it

Have you only had to do this once? If it's a one-time deal that's fine but if I'm going to have to take my case off and remove my SIM frequently I'm not even going to bother.

Had another random reboot last night, and lost VVM again. Had to reinstall US and reset network settings. VVM still wasn't working, so I tried taking the SIM out and putting it back in. That seemed to work.

Seems to last as long as I don't need to reboot the phone. If I had to guess, ultrasn0w does something funky with the activation, and reinserting the sim fixes it somehow.

+1
going back to 4.2.1 ! ez & smooth.
gonna wait for 4.3.2 to see if it's any better.

i have a feeling 4.2.1 is gonna be around for awhile though ; there are bunch of people complaining 4.3 and 4.3.1 lagging behaviors :D

what should the MMS configuartion be under "Cellular Data" under the Settings app?

APN
Username
Password
MMSC
MMS Proxy
MMS Max Message Size
MMS UA Prof URL

this is what I have as well, and my MMS still isnt working....

do I hit the "Reset Settings" on this screen or the other Network settings screen?

The only thing that's worked without fail for me was removing and reinserting the SIM card. I tried every combination of resetting network settings, reinstalling ultrasn0w, etc... with no success.

I noticed that too, but after a reboot, the Carrier setting still appears again, which most likely indicates that the APN's are wrong again.

Just had to reboot my phone and sure enough it killed my vvm and mms again. I'm not going to take off my case and eject my sim card tray every time I have to reboot my phone. I removed ultrasn0w again and I'm not putting it back on until they fix these problems - it's ridiculous already.

Help please

Ok so i have a 3GS on 4.3 firmware with iPad baseband and it WAS unlocked on t-mobile but as soon as i updated ultrasn0w to 1.2.1 it screwed it up!!!! I have tried reinstalling, re-jailbreaking, custom firmware, official firmware, rebooting my phone, restarting springboard, taking out the sim then reinstalling and putting the sim back in, and nothing works!!!! I HAVE EVEN TRIED LEAVING MY PHONE OFF FOR AN ENTIRE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All i get is one little bar with no carrier and after a while it goes to no service! I heard this was the problem on 4.3.1 and i would update but i cant because im on custom firmware and cant go to official and everytime i try to update to another custom firmware it gives me a whole bunch of 1015 and 37 and etc errors! If anybody knows the solution to this please help.

Naked ftw ;) But nah, I haven't had to reboot in a few days so it doesn't really bother me. I wonder if there's a software method of accomplishing what the sim eject+insert accomplishes... maybe airplane mode?

Edit: Weird, mine survives reboots now... dunno what changed, but I won't complain :p

I was wondering this myself. If airplane will do it I'd consider installing it again but if not I guess I'm just going to have to do without it. Maybe someone here can try toggling airplane mode on and then off the next time they lost vvm and mms (and it WILL happen again;)).

Tested it on my dad's iPhone, which still loses mms and vvm upon reboot: airplane mode causes the carrier menu to go away, but MMS and VVM don't come back. Removing and reinserting the sim fixes it though (until the next reboot). Maybe a dev could write a quick and dirty app that virtually disconnects the sim.

Yeah...or maybe they can just fix ultrasn0w so we don't have these problems;).

Yea... As much as I respect the dev-team, I have no faith in them fixing these issues. These issues have been around since ultrasn0w came out for the iPhone 4 and they never acknowledged them.

Probably won't be matter for much longer... My gut feeling is that eventually these imei unlocks will become cheap enough to make ultrasn0w irrelevant. Or they'll figure out this NCK brute force thing.

I hope you're right about this. It would be a heck of a lot easier to just update my bb and unlock my phone via some other method once the price comes down (to free eventually I'm sure).

I've got an iPhone 4 that I just updated to 4.3.1 and jailbroke. I'm trying to preserve 1.59.00 bb, which seems to have been successful.

I have the one bar issue--I haven't seen confirmation that this is just cosmetic. My gut says it is more than cosmetic because my data rates seem slow, but that could be a lot of things.

In any case, you can see where this is going. I installed ultrasn0wfrom cydia. After seeing this thread, checked MMS, and sending them seems to silently fail. Just asked someone to send me one to check inbound, and I haven't gotten anything yet.

So, I removed ultrasn0w. Still no MMS. Removed TetherMe as well, since it has APN settings. Still nothing.

Various combinations of reboot/power off/eject SIM/reset network settings. Still nothing.

I'm starting to think I'm going to have to restore, and honestly, I'm thinking along the same lines as the poster above. With a real unlock, whatever the premium, preserving the bb doesn't make nearly as much sense anymore, so I'll probably upgrade the bb this time.

Anyone else have this problem after completely removing ultrasn0w? I'm stumped.

ETA: After a bit more testing, it is my MMS *receive* that is broken. Send is OK. But, since receive is broken, I can't test by sending to myself.

Update on all that, it's working now. Whatever voodoo is helping people get ultrasn0w sorted out seemed to be necessary for me to remove it. Lots of flakiness with my signal and dropping down from 3G to edge though. I'm going to go ahead restore and bite the bullet on the BB upgrade tonight.
