Updated Ultrasn0w 1.2.1 just released!! Fixes 4.3.1 Signal Bars on old BB!!!!!

Glad you got it working, I'm still hanging in there with the (no bars/ one bar) issue with 1.59.00 on AT&T.

Don't really want to go thru all the hassle, hopefully something more reliable comes out.

Let us know if your problems with VV or MMS come back.
 
I also have no voicemail with ultrasn0w installed... So the choice is live with only 1 bar - or live without voicemail...

What specific sequence fixed it for you?

I'm on 4.0 too still on an Phone 3gs and was wondering what the latest ultrasn0w meant for me in the situation I'm in. I've asked around in a few threads but haven't seen an answer that made me confident. Perhaps someone can help?

I bought this iPhone 3gs last August and at the the time, the latest firmware was able to be jailbroken and unlocked so we could use on t-mobile. It's been on it's Version 4.0 (8A293) / Modem Firmware 05.13.04 since. Lately the phone's been freezing up a lot. I wasn't sure how to go about restoring or upgrading the FW w/out risking losing the unlock.

Does this mean I have all these SHSHs saved? SHSH: iOS 4.0, 4.01, 4.1, 4.2.1+, 4.3 . Could it help me with anything.

perhaps I could just restart it from scratch to whatever the latest version is that is unlockable if I have these SHSH saves? or is that not how they work?

If the phone still acts up, and I want to take it to the Apple store because it has applecare. But i'm not sure what would happen if they swap it out with a replacement 3gs.

you should be good to restore to 4.3.1. just make sure you use a custom ipsw from pwnagetool or snowbreeze to preserve your baseband.

thanks - could you refer me to a good step by step?

Also, if I do the restore to the 4.3.1 (latest Firmware), and my phone's still acting up, at that point that means I would have to take it to the apple store and I'm guessing a swap could occur.

but I'm guessing the 3gs they give me would be on the latest FW/BB and be unlockable? So I should do this step once the latest FW AND BB is able to be unlocked?

Last question - before taking it in to Applestore, what's easiest way to hide the jailbreaking/unlock that I had if I don't want them to know?

I dont think there is a specific pattern or sequence, I did it many different ways for 1-2 hours. Install ultrasnow, reboot. No VV or MMS worked then reset network, restart, then remove ultrasnow, reboot, install ultrasnow again, reboot all different ways untill it finally worked after 30 reboots, reinstalls etc....
 
Oh boy. I've noticed another issue with my iPhone 4 with 01.59.00 and this jailbreak with the UltraSn0w unlock, on AT&T still in the USA. I have no FaceTime. I turned it on and it says Waiting for Activation, and never activates after hours.

Anyone got FaceTime working successfully?

Restored to 4.3.1 with 01.59.00 baseband, and then installed Ultrasn0w. No FaceTime at all, and no VVM either now! Nice. Going back to 4.2.1.

4.2.1 installed. VVM and FaceTime working great again. Oh well. No 4.3.1 for me!

Damn, I'm having the same problem as well. no facetime. I will try to restore 4.3.1 again but this time set it up as a new device and see if that will work or not.
 
Ultrasn0w 1.2.1

I JB my iPhone 4 with Pwnage Tool 4.3 and succesfully retained my 1.59 BB. I got the one signal bar issue and installed Ultrasn0w 1.2.1 to fix it. That seemed to fix the one bar issue but I've noticed that now I always get a full signal. It seems to static. Has this happened to anybody else? Does anybody know a fix for this?
 
To fix your voicemail and MMS problem after Ultrasn0w install falowing the instructions from DevTeam, in your iPhone settings go to: General/Reset/Reset network settings and do a reset.
This helped me to get my VM back. Good luck to You all.

So just an update I ended up getting the carrier setting again yesterday on my phone.
But even though its there my VV and MMS still work fine.
So even if you see that carrier option when you're on AT&T with ultrasnow installed your stuff might still work fine. Figured it might help some.
Here's what it looks like below.

That happened to me, too, last night. I had restarted my phone after data appeared to have stopped working. But my VVM wasn't working. Reset network settings a few times, but no luck. This morning, I uninstalled US, rebooted, reinstalled US. Still no VVM. Reset network settings, and now VVM is back. Not sure what happened last night

Weird. Any idea what caused the carrier option to come back? Mine hasn't come back.
 
iP4 (JB using pwnage tool) w/ 01.59.00 & 4.3.1 on AT$T with ultrasn0w broke receiving new VVM & MMS send/receive for me. Facetime worked fine though.

Tried multiple reboots, uninstalls/reinstalls, resprings, network settings resets, still no VVM or MMS. Uninstalled ultrasn0w and instantly back to fully functional except for signal bar issue. :(

Seems like there really isnt a specific way to get this working. I tried different things and I'm pretty sure the final way I got it to work was a repeat of one of my previous tries. In conclusion, just keep trying. :D

Reboot phone, install ultrasn0w, reset network settings

I can confirm mms, vm, and FaceTime work.
IPhone 4 4.3.1 on bb 01.59.00

Exactly my thoughts also.
Keep fighting for an hour or 2 and you will eventually get it
 
I had to re-image my phone with the PwnageTool, reboot, ultrasn0w, reboot, reset network and now everything is fine. Under redsn0w, I had a lot of issues with the VM and other aspects for 1.59 BB/Ultrasn0w.

Just wondering which method did people here go with PwnageTool or Redsn0w?

I've done PwnageTool and redsn0w. It doesn't seem to matter. The problem is with ultrasn0w, as evidenced by everything working perfectly as soon as it is uninstalled. I'd be very interested in hearing the ultrasn0w developers' take on why it wreaks havoc with visual voicemail and MMS.
 
I dont need an unlock, im using ATT on my iPhone 4 4.3.1 and my MMS isnt working, didnt install UltraSn0w

what should i do?
 
Has anyone tried disabling the ultrasn0w mobile substrate plugin through sbsettings? I'm on 2.x.... baseband and disabled it, and my reception bars still work. So for anyone who is just preserving the 1.59.00 baseband but doesn't need an unlock, this might remove the unwanted effects of ultrasn0w.
