I do have a iPad but what do you care how I use it? I need it for my business. If my daughter broke it or it got damaged I could lose money. NO THANK YOU.
A used iPad 1 is like $200. If you can't afford that, well, you probably shouldn't be posting in an iMac thread where the cheapest option is going to be over a grand.
Oh and another question if I may. Why would I pay iTunes for a movie I already have on DVD when I just convert it and upload to iTunes. Why should I have to re buy all these movies I have just because they make it available for download.
Most DVDs and Blu-rays now come with Digital copies. No need to pay anyone anything. Or buy an external *hunt hint* and rip them yourself.
You keep coming up with fantastic excuses, but Apple keeps providing so many good ideas.

True. I returned appletv because of the limited options. Also, I don't think iTV or whatever will succeed without Apple being able to offer what redbox offers. $3.99 per SD movie rent is so 20th century.
Airplay really brings AppleTV to life. I've used it many times now to stream movies from my iPad or play games on the TV.
However I do feel AppleTV is still lacking and is no way a better option over a Roku or something similar. Once Apple allows Apps for it...well, it's game over for everyone else.
Please keep in mind Vudu, CinemaNow etc. all charge pretty much the same for a streaming rental. Trying to compare Apple to Redbox is just silly.
- Redbox is not always going to have to movie in stock.
- They are not always even going to carry it.
- They may not carry it on release day.
- It has many unskippable previews.
- It may have scratches.
- You have to drive to rent (i.e. gas).
- You have to drive to return it (i.e. gas).
- You may have to wait in a line both times.
So sorry, Apple and friends who do the same thing offer convenience and a guarantee that if it's on their servers, you can watch it. Right at that moment. No driving. No waiting in line. No hoping it's still available. No hoping it actually works. No driving to return it so you get charged an additional $1.
You're little analogy doesn't hold much water. Two totally difference services. One of them is growing (digital), while the other one is dropping line a rock (OD).
