Cook will tell us how popular ML has been and quickly show 'em off, but not spend a whole lot of time on them. Maybe 5 min. Big question is will this be the model where they axe the optical drive.

Mountain Lion isn't even available on a disc.

I hope they axe the Disc drive. Such a waste of space.

Thank you macrumors! this what we need! we dont know much about the imacs so keep those coming !!!!! thank you again. Im really excited guys!

Had my iMac now for 6 years and nothing has broken. Much better than my PCs that ended up in the trash after 3.

Yep, also never had a problem with any Mac. But then again, in the last two months my Time Capsule, my iPhone 4, my Apple In-Ear Headphones and my iPod touch broke all at roughly the same time, which doesn't make me more confident either ...

Damn. She must be well gutted that she wont have that new Ivy Bridge goodness powering her facebook experience.

So be a good person and call her and tell her that the new ones are coming and she'd be better off by returning hers and getting the new one in a few weeks.

:)

Stupid question.... Does the iMac line include the Mac Mini?

No.

iMac - all-in-one desktop mac with built-in monitor
Mac Mini - just a tiny box with the mac itself with no monitor/keyboard or mouse

Doesn't mean that Apple won't refresh both at the same time though.

I've had my built PC since 2004 and finally am building another if this iMac doesn't have the guts I want in it.

Built PCs last just as long as Macs if you know what you are doing. And my built PC only ran $1400.

The issue with the iMac is the lack of any GPU updatability. That is a killer for us graphics/motion graphics people and gamers.

iBelieve it when iSee it :D

I hope they haven't made that old "let them wait long enough and feed them golden crap, they'll eat it all up" (I mean, I hope that when the dust clears - if and when it is launched - we don't realise it is a disappointing update/version).

The thing is though that one would hardly expect a Mini update before an iMac one, so for those wanting a Mini update, an iMac update is good news. Hopefully they'll update the Mini at the same time.

Would Apple release new products like iMac, MacMini and MacBook Pro 13' Retina during the Back To School promotion? I don't think so.. so I think we need to wait at least until September 21st. Lets see!!

Question: A few years back all but the highest end iMac's were made from all laptop parts, is this still the case? Do any of the iMac's have a desktop class processor? I see all the video cards have the "M" attatchment. But are they all still basically laptops in a larger case?

After many Apple products incl. iMacs I am wondering why people still want a desktop (MacPro and it's expandability aside)

The current generation of laptops seems so powerful and if you hook up a display and a keyboard, plus track pad it is very versatile and you don't need to be at any desk.
