The End:
Issue appears to have been caused by a USB-A to USB-C adapter I recently plugged into a hub to help transition to USB-C. Pulled it out and all seems fine.

As I recall, Apple does recommend disconnecting all USB devices before updating. Looks like not doing so may have finally caught up with me.
I'm running everything from external drives (my initial plan was to run OS from internal and homedirs from external, but learned that Apple doesn't support this anymore) and forgot to make the update from internal admin account.

Oddly, I'm still running this computer...

What was the main reason for Apple to release another security update only one week after the older one?

I'm wondering this too. I ran the last update a week or so ago and it fixed the problem with attaching files, but now I've got another update to do. But I'm reluctant to do it because my Mac seems to be running perfectly well right now. What does this one do and does anyone know if there are any issues with this one?

Too soon to tell.
If all is good, wait a week or two to see if anything shows up with other users.

Could anyone on 14.0.3 confirm if the Photos option in the Media Browser section of the upload window actually loads their library? I updated one machine to .3 and it still didn't seem to load my library. This is the section I mean.

Sorry, don’t use Photos, Lightroom actually

This is what I'm seeing (attached). It's been ages since I've run any system/Security updates having been previously burned with an early Mojave Security Update (late 2018) that gave me a world of problems (the one and only botched update I've ever experienced). I'd be interested to know thoughts on how I should proceed; individually in a specific order or all together?

Installed the 2021-002 update last week, everything seems to be running fine.
But, the appstore did not update apps, such us in my case is Whatsapp and Trello (not sure if this can happen for all app), I mean that's the only two available for update currently, and stuck with loading.

Here is my similiar case:

And here is the quick fix (temporary) replied by Merek_137 in there.
While running App Store go to Activity Monitor app and force kill appstoreagent process.
Starting download/update again everythig works as expected, but until quit App Store,
then problem apear again.

Wow, I thought Catalina was the earliest OS supported on the 16 inch, makes me think it could be a good buy down the road
only the 13 inch shipped with mojave. the 16 is indeed catacrap and cannot be upgraded to mojave.

Since today it's happening to me as well on Mojave. I updated the security update 2021-002 sometime ago
I was able to update apps till two days ago

Only solution is to follow what a lot of other users are doing
macOS 10.14.6 Mojave - can't update mac a… - Apple Community
While running App Store go to Activity Monitor app and force kill appstoreagent process.
Starting download/update again everythig works as expected.

It's not ideal, but having latest Security Update / Safari is more important than a minor app update..;)

You are right . But what about an update that doesn't break the App Store? 😊
I'm sure for developers who have their apps there is a big nuisance too = less $$ in

Agreed.
Just updated 2 apps, it is a pain in butt having to quit appstoreagent after every click.

Please, take time to make Apple aware of it
Let's give them the same pain in the neck till they don't fix it: it's in their interest too

I mentioned this in another thread.

How many pains in the neck will be told to upgrade to Big Sur or buy a new computer? How many will do that? How will that help fix the actual problem?

I'd rather that Kate McKinnon and friends have a skit on SNL where they try and try to download an app from the App Store, get bad results, and then get frustrated. That might get Apple's attention.

MacBook Pro 15-inch, Late 2013 after updating to version 10.14.6 (18G8012), the keyboard in the upper part under the display began to warm up. I think it's the Safari browser.
