- Apple Watch: nearly useless without your iPhone.
- Android Wear: bulky/ugly/buggy take your pick.

Smart watches are improving, I only wish it'd happen faster rate.

Smart Watches are improving. But at a faster rate is not the answer. Mainly companies like Fitbit, Apple, Samsung, ect.. Are still determining where this 'Niche' is. Every customer is a different demographic. Smart Watches sometimes try to do to many things and this can be unrefined, being what do we want them to do, versus what they should do.

Now, I love my Apple Watch Stainless, but I still question where smart watches are going and their future. I definitely think we are in transitional phase where smart watches still require adaption. But over time, With the right investment of health and internal improvements, it's in a direction where more are jumping on board.

Apple Watch 2 will be released at some point, though I wouldn't say "soon" is the word. I don't see any indications in my supply chain. Unless they plan on releasing the same exact watch with simply upgraded internals I am certain no Apple Watch 2 emerges this year.

After owning a Black Sport 42mm for almost year, I'd happily add another to my collection. Not really caring too much with regards to improvements - the only significant one I'd like is if they could fix the sim problem. But that's more of a phone issue, not a watch one. Never had a watch collection before but I'd happily start with this. Looking forward to adding a Gold Sport and heavier Stainless Steel version also.

Can you elaborate "I don't see any indications in my supply chain."

Specifically what?

I wonder if people would be as cynical ,had Apple not released the Apple Watch , and continued the status quo with thier product range as is.

The decisions and products that Apple makes has absolutely no bearing on the level of cynicism on these forums. MacRumors seems to attract large masses of naturally cynical people.

Heck, that right there is a cynical statement.

Are they going to drop the price of the original watch??? if so, then i can think of buying one :)

Most likely Sunny. If Apple introduces Gen 2 Watch, Gen 1 Watch will see a reduction in price from Apple. And also any major retailers will reduce their prices as well to reflect this.

A cheaper, upgraded Apple Watch 1 might be just the thing for dealing with these constant 2-factor authentication notifications.

Apple sure is heading back to the Sculley days when it comes to trying to sell many different versions of overlapping products. At some point the consumer just gets confused. One of the first things Jobs did when he came back was simplify the product lines. Was the Sculley or Jobs approach better? I guess we will soon find out.

Same here. I love my Gen 1 Watch. It delivers in the way I need it to. Gen 2 should be a real contender in the Smart Watch market. I have the Stainless version and to me, it's worth it with the sapphire display. I wonder if we will see additional casing options as well. Should be interesting.
