Love seeing people react and complain about Apple's direction based on a rumor.

Let's remember that, while he's "the most accurate Apple analyst", that doesn't mean a great deal when his accuracy is around 50%. If Jim Dalrymple says it's happening, THEN I'd put money on it.

I might just buy one of these goddamn watches simply to watch the time goes by as I wait for MacBook Pro and Mac Pro updates...

I suppose if you could get people to actually BUY Macs then Apple might give the Macbook Pro/Mac Pro more attention.

Can you elaborate "I don't see any indications in my supply chain."

Specifically what?
Without going into too much detail, I am essentially a liaison for a china based design and manufacturing firm. Among the items we design and produce; Apple watch excessories, guards and screen protectors are on this list. We make parts for some very well known brands and rely on accurate schematics to dial in the automation process. It's not something that's done overnight.

I don't know much about your type of business...but if a rumor is true...would you be getting some kind of notification or blueprint?..i mean just any products in general.

I think Macrumors should do a sources roundup. Each place that rumours come from, and how often that source is correct.

I think another website did just that.. and showed that Ming-Chi Kuo is the most reliable, with over 70% spot-on accuracy, and a further 15% pretty close. I think he definitely has sources within Apple's supply chain, and knows when big orders areplaced, allowing him to extrapolate time lines and hardware functions. When he's wrong, it seems it's because Apple changed their mind about something, eg. release date, during product build.

Makes a lot of sense. That's how iPhones have worked.

Not really. With iPhones they just keep the older model selling for a lower price. (If you exclude the special case iPhone 5/5s - iPhone SE with the same casing.) This rumor says that the 1st generation Apple Watch will be sold in an updated version alongside the real Apple Watch 2.

Apple Watch and Apple Watch Pro? It's like the good ol' days when Michael Spindler was in charge.

I suppose if you could get people to actually BUY Macs then Apple might give the Macbook Pro/Mac Pro more attention.

I'd buy one of each if they didn't contain tech from 2012/13, with prices from the same era.

You can't tell me that Apple, with all its riches, can't afford the R&D to put out some refreshed products (even if it were RAM/GPU/HDD updates while they waited for Intel).

Apple Watch LC
Apple Watch Classic
Apple Watch Performa
Apple Watch Centris
Apple Watch Quadra
Power Apple Watch
Apple Watch TV

So no one finds it strange that they may introduce an Apple Watch 1.5 alongisde an Apple Watch 2? That sounds like complete bs to me. The only way it makes any kind of sense is if they want to have 2 tiers of watches, a more basic one and a more advanced one. Which is stupid for a watch anyway since they already have the different models.. But hey, more "choice"!

How many Apple Watch generations will it take before these pathetic iPhone dependant watches match the technology and usefulness of Garmin Fenix 3 and Suunto Ambrit watches.

I really don't think Apple will ever remove the iPhone dependence everything Apple is a package deal.

The decisions and products that Apple makes has absolutely no bearing on the level of cynicism on these forums. MacRumors seems to attract large masses of naturally cynical people.

Heck, that right there is a cynical statement.

Dunno. Seems the Apple Watch has increased people's cynism in relation to innovation. Apple has not helped itself though

What ever happened to the company that wanted a simplified product line. Apple Watch 1, Apple Watch 1 SE and Apple Watch 2 along with iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7 Pro. Don't forget the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus or the iPhone SE if you're looking to save some money.

If you're going to take rumours as fact, at least include all rumours.

It looks like we'll have iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, iPhone SE.

Then: Apple Watch 1S and Apple Watch 2.

Don't assume the worst based on the worst interpretation of rumours.

Apple sure is heading back to the Sculley days when it comes to trying to sell many different versions of overlapping products. At some point the consumer just gets confused. One of the first things Jobs did when he came back was simplify the product lines. Was the Sculley or Jobs approach better? I guess we will soon find out.

There were a dozen different Mac models when Jobs took the reins back, not 3 desktops, 3 laptops, like there is now.

That's what i was saying earlier...based on what I read on this article...I get the impression that it's apple watch SE....
I can't say anything because it hasn't happened yet...but if the rumors are true....so be it.

90% of that article has nothing to do with an updated Apple Watch 1.

It's a rehash of the Apple Watch 2 article, but in reverse stating those features won't be in this watch (because if they were, we wouldn't need an Apple Watch 2!!!).

Rehash of the March price drop and the obligatory rumored iPhone 7 launch.
(It's practically a signature/ footer at this point - "Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus next month. Pre-orders could begin Friday, September 9, ahead of retail availability on Friday, September 16.").
