Twitter reporting the update has been pulled. Which, of course, is useless for those of us who have already installed the update.

Nope, never had VZ. ATT since original iPhone.

New issues have come up as well. Touch ID does not work and VPN is connecting for no reason... 8.0.1 is one of the worst updates ever.

Yeah, it seems this is a problem with 8.0.1 iteslef, based on what people are saying :(

I just downloaded it but saw this thread and didn't allow it to install. I have Sprint but I don't know if this will mess up my phone too. I'll wait until the next update comes out.

Same here what do we do? Can we go back to 8.0 somehow?

Assuming apple is still signing 8.0.0, which is fairly likely, especially if they did just pull the 8.0.1 update then you can DFU and restore, but it will wipe your phone and you'll need to restore everything from backup... and you can't just backup then wipe and restore because you can't restore a backup that was taken with a newer OS on an older OS.

This is probably much more trouble than it's worth unless it takes apple an incredibly long time to get a new update pushed out.

I updated my ATT iPhone 5 during lunch, right before I found this thread so I was freaking out but it's fine, got signal still.

I don't think Apple will go public and address these issue like Jobs did. Just heared Apple pulled 8.0.1 with no official statement.

If you already updated to 8.0.1 and are having these problems, try restoring the phone from iTunes. Many people are reporting that a restore fixes the issues. If you haven't updated, then hold off until a fixed update is released.

Does that wipe out apps and stuff? I really don't want to setup my phone again. That takes a good chunk of many hours I'd rather be doing something else.

If you have a backup on your computer, you restore from that. It will copy all apps and settings (including email and iMessage/SMS/MMS) back onto the device.

This is true, but it would need to be a pre-existing backup. You can't take a backup once you're on 8.0.1 and then restore it on 8.0, so unless you had backed up recently then you're likely to lose some work in the process.

(And technically you may be able to restore an 8.0.1 backup that was taken on a computer to 8.0, but it requires editing a plist file and isn't supported, so there are no guarantees)

Just trying that now. I did make a backup a few minute ago so let's see.

So disappointed. Never had any troubles ever until now!

can you wipe the phone and then choose to restore from the cloud and select a backup from a few days prior?
