No, no, no.

You tell them when you are normally home, and that they can come get it then.

This is THEIR mistake, not yours, and you have gone over and above the call of duty already.

The intended recipient will be satisfied (or not) by Apple and UPS - don't worry about him.

It's their burden to recover the item, not your burden to take a day off.

There's some common sense advice.
Why would the OP even think of taking a day off, lose work and possibly lose money to fix a UPS mistake? That doesn't make any sense to me and I would never lose a day from work to sit at home and wait for the UPS to pick up a package that mistakenly got to me. You get it when I can and Im at home. End of story.
But judging by the thread starters comments its part of a continuous irrational behavior on his end.

I'm sure they will take care of the other person. In the meantime carry on with your life and when UPS gets there act together then arrangements can be made. Unless you contact the other person I seriously doubt he will show up at your doorstep. Even with the jacked up tracking information it's most likely not going to show a location on his end on the physical location of the phone at your home. It will just show delivered.

It shows my delivered to last name, city and state. Googling it's not hard to find complete address. Not a common name.

Ok thanks.

Is there are Apple Store closeby?

I'd call the guy and tell him you have his phone. Heck I'll call him if you want me to.

Just me, but I'd try to make arrangements to get the person their phone and take a few pics to document it. Maybe give to a friend who's working a full retail day if the person wants to come get it.

But don't take off work or anything. If it comes to it, just tell UPS it's going to be on your front porch/under your mat/in your mailbox waiting, and if somebody somehow steals it it's on UPS.

I'm a female and not experienced in this situation. I just won't worry about it.

UPS Ground delivers between 9am and 7pm, and usually later in most cities. You wouldn't be available at any time during those hours during the work week? Worst case is you hide it somewhere outside and advise the 800 number of where it is for the driver to get.

Both Apple and UPS said it needed to be picked up so I don't want to be responsible for anything if not done the proper way. Especially with my name linked to it.

Weird part the little sticker on the bottom left corner of box has my name and address with a tracking but the big label has his tracking and address.

UPS finally got here at 9:30 PM last night the driver was old, hot and sweating. I gave him a bottled water. He said he was helping the other driver because they were swamped. He asked me to sign and handed me four boxes. I thought good they must had shipped the one I bought for my brother early that was delayed. I went in the kitchen, turned on lights and noticed he gave me someone's Iphone 6s plus. The guy lives in a city about 45 min away. I am really freaked out having someone's iPhone. My three were correct. I called 5 min after for UPS to come get it 800 number said not until mon. I checked the tracking online from his box. It shows delivered to my name and city. I called Apple and asked if I should take it to Police dept. I told her I was nervous about having his property here. They said not to worry. Yeah right. I bet the guy is freaked out seeing his Iphone delivered to me.

I am beyond frustrated. I called UPS again this morning sat online waiting for a sup almost an hour to see if I could drop it off at the UPS store around the corner as I work Mon-Fri. She said no it had to be picked up from my house since it was tracked and signed as delivered here. I told her I work Mon-Fri. She said was going to try to send a driver today Sat. I have to leave to my Nieces birthday party in an hour.

Any advice???. I just don't know what the heck to do if he doesn't come in time. Apple said the guy has called them looking for it but they are going to take care of it. She wouldn't tell what that meant. She said I would receive an email. I've revived nothing.

I haven't even been able to enjoy my own iPhone being on calls to UPS and Apple since yesterday. I thought about driving it out to the person 45 min away but UPS said no because it would still show as delivered to me and he could say I never gave it to him

I'm tired and frustrated being passed around on the phone with these people. Anyway, I have to leave in an hour and work all week. Hopefully he will be here but if not what should I do???

Personally I would not go to the party. I'm sure your family would understand.

That will just have to come in the evening. I want to see they scan it.

It's my only Niece. She would be devastated.

From what I understood from UPS it would be picked up from here and go to back to shipper. Does that sound right? Why wouldn't they take it back to hub and ship to him which is not far from the hub?

The best advice to follow. Let UPS worry about it. And again, I would not worry about the other person trying to locate you to find there phone. I'm sure they're already in contact with Apple on the matter.

Ok thank you.

Go to your niece's party. Now.

Forget about the phone.

Thanks. Should I leave a note I had to leave? That might not be good. I don't want to be robbed. Lol

I will wait around a little longer I guess.

You should leave and say, f--- it! I can't believe you're this stressed about a screw up on UPS side. At this point I would have dropped it in a UPS box or brought it to a UPS store and told them what happened.

You didn't do anything. It's just a simple mistake that happens sometimes. Ups will make arrangements to fix this error.
You just gotta call them. It's not the end of the world. Breath.
And if you're still anxious seek professional help if this is a repeat psych issue.

Problem Solving isn't a skill easily taught

I did. They would not take it. Has to be picked up.

The problem is I have to take a day off with no pay if I decide to do so. They need me at work so they may say no. UPS hub is very far away. The ups store is close but they said it can only be picked up.

I stress over everything. Lol

Should I just leave a note on the door that sorry I have to leave?

Here are the steps you need to take:

1) look in the mirror
2) smack yourself across the face...hard
3) tell yourself, "calm the f...down"
4) take a few deep breaths.

Now, you do not need to worry, nor do you need to take a day off work. This is UPS and Apple's problem. Tell UPS you are leaving for work at 8:00am, and you will leave the package by your front door (or back door or other inconspicuous place if you can). Their other option will be to pick it up AFTER you get home from work.

They need to ceed to your schedule. Good on your for trying to help this other guy out, but it will only cause you heartache.

The OPer is making a huge deal out of this. He/she called UPS and told them what happened. I would have dropped it from there. Who cares if the OPer works Mon-Fri? If UPS can't make it there when the OPer is actually home then that's UPS' problem, not the OPer's.

This is where people say don't sweat the small stuff.

If i were in this situation I would do 1 of two things

Drop it off at a UPS hub and say it isn't mine, don't want it.

or

Drop it off at the guy or girl's house.

I would not stress over this situation at all, I would not have called UPS or Apple.

Thats pretty poor advice. She said the nearest hub was some distance away. Calling UPS was the right thing to do but now it's up to UPS to pick up the phone at a time that is convent for her. UPS made the mistake and they need to fix it.

I agree with the person who said that if I ever have anything that is delivered incorrectly, I hope it ends up at your door! It is great that you care so much, but son't stress for even another minute about it.

If it were me.... I would notify UPS, which I know you have done. I would notify Apple, which I know you have done. I would then keep the phone/package in a safe place until UPS can figure out coming by when I am home. I am near-certain that Apple is already in the process of making this right with the intended recipient, so don't stress about UPS advising that it will go back to the shipper. That protects everyone, as they have no way of knowing if you opened the package, accidentally dropped it or anything else. It protects you, the intended recipient, Apple and UPS.

Enjoy your weekend! :)

Got to the party then. If you miss UPS I would just call them Monday and set up a new time for them to pick up.

Only it's almost an hour away for both. Not the protocol according to Apple and UPS. Tracking is linked to MY NAME if I did it that way could have future repercussions.

Totally stupid that they wouldn't accept it at the UPS store. Who knows maybe Apple sent him out a replacement. Has this happened before to anyone?

This happened yesterday at my job. We got a shipment of iPhone 6s' and 2 of them were not ours but belonged to a company across town. We asked the FedEx guy to come back and pick them up or we were dropping them off at the hub. He came back later that day.

I have no idea why UPS won't accept it.

It's not worth stressing over it or ruining your weekend over, it's not your problem to be honest. It's on UPS and Apple. You did your part.

If they might come today leave it on your front porch/under the mat/in the mailbox with a Post It note that has 'UPS' written on it. If someone steals it that's not your fault/problem.

You don't have the power to control whether you're going to get robbed today or next month or never, so let that go. Try using the serenity prayer to help you sort things like this out.

Now go to your niece's birthday and show her how to play Tic-Tac-Toe in 'Notes' on your new iPhone.
