This happened yesterday at my job. We got a shipment of iPhone 6s' and 2 of them were not ours but belonged to a company across town. We asked the FedEx guy to come back and pick them up or we were dropping them off at the hub. He came back later that day.

I have no idea why UPS won't accept it.

It's not worth stressing over it or ruining your weekend over, it's not your problem to be honest. It's on UPS and Apple. You did your part.

Thanks I know totally ridiculous. It was after 9:00 when he delivered them. I felt sorry for the guy. He was 50ish and looked like he was ready to pass out so I gave him cold bottled water. He had been gone less than 5 min. I even got in my car to find him but gone in a flash.

I called immediately. Stupid UPS kept me on hold over 30 min to only tell me they messaged the hub. Wait till they come on mon. I said well I do work. I don't think it phased her. Lol.

It's almost 3:00. I think I'm going to leave now let them call and make appt or whatever. I'm sick of worrying about it. When they come they come.

Thanks posters for helping me out. Never had this happen.

Bring it to the police station, end of story, not your problem anymore.

What's taking it to the police station going to accomplish? They would look at her like she was crazy.

Go to the party and have fun. UPS will get with you on Monday. If they are that worried about it THEY will make the effort. If at some point they keep blowing you off then consider yourself the lucky owner of an extra phone LOL. And like everybody said, Apple has most likely taken care of the other customer.

The problem is I have to take a day off with no pay if I decide to do so. They need me at work so they may say no. UPS hub is very far away. The ups store is close but they said it can only be picked up.

I stress over everything. Lol

Should I just leave a note on the door that sorry I have to leave?

Why take a day off? Bring the phone with you to work and have UPS pick it up at your work. It was their screw up so let them come to you to get it.

Thanks but I don't think you read through. I was on the phone endlessly hours yesterday and this morning to Apple and UPS. I even went to the UPS store. Since it was delivery error it has to be picked up from hub that delivered. Tracking says delivered to my address with my sig. It has to be picked up from same location.

That's their stupid protocol since they screwed up.

I'm at my Nieces party now. Tired of waiting. If they call I will be at work tomorrow. I can't take calls at work. So when I get home at in the eve will call them.

Only it's almost an hour away for both. Not the protocol according to Apple and UPS. Tracking is linked to MY NAME if I did it that way could have future repercussions.

Totally stupid that they wouldn't accept it at the UPS store. Who knows maybe Apple sent him out a replacement. Has this happened before to anyone?

The UPS store isn't owned by UPS. It is a franchise.

It's their problem. Tell them you're not taking time off to be there at their convenience to fix their screwup. Don't be a doormat.

IMHO...

Exactly what I told him. I wouldn't be taking a day off unless UPS is going to reimburse me for my lost pay.

Is anyone else asking/wondering how you even know it's an iPhone 6S Plus?

Why did you open someone else's package?

No, I did not. I got two plus's same size box with the same numbers as mine on the little white sticker on the side of the box. There was the big white shipping label with the barcodes and other persons name and address. Then a sticker on the bottom of that with my name address, different tracking with no barcode

Exactly what I told him. I wouldn't be taking a day off unless UPS is going to reimburse me for my lost pay.

I'm a woman.

Something similar happened to me a few years ago but with an Amazon Fire tablet thing. The parcel was addressed to me but the invoice inside the parcel had a note with a Birthday message from someones Grandfather. The Kindle Fire was registered to my Amazon account which confused things further, I don't even have my own Kindle Fire so was confused how this happened. When I called Amazon they were disinterested, they didn't seem interested in collecting it one little bit, I even offered to post it back but Amazon refused as the tablet was attached to my account and a refund would be automatically generated, thus complicating things.

I soon found out why Amazon weren't interested, apparently if something is delivered to you in error and your address is on the outer packaging then legally the sender can't demand the return of the item. However, if the item is posted through your letterbox or handed to you and your name isn't on the packaging then the item can be collected by the sender. This is how it is in the UK and you may have a similar law in the US. Just a thought.

That's really strange. I don't know how the big shipping label had another's persons name, address but yet mine was imprinted on the little one underneath. I wonder if this person will get my address and show up for it while in the meantime. apples sending out replacement?

I would want something in writing and notify apple immediately since no updated tracking info since not scanned.

Things like this happen often. Although you should be commended doxie because it's rare now a days people are honest enough to do the right thing. Many would try to keep or make a profit from it. That's why packages are insured. The reason UPS is not worried about is because this is normal procedure for them.

The thing is there really is only so much you can offer to do. I understand your concern, but this isn't your error and it is Apple's responsibility to get an iPhone to the original purchaser. It really isn't your responsibility to get this sorted. It's lovely that you want this error corrected but there is nothing you can do except what you have already done.

UPS and Apple know where this iPhone is should they want to collect it and all you can do is let them know when you are available to facilitate that collection. I would bet that Apple have already sent out a replacement iPhone to the other person and UPS/Apple are currently claiming for this iPhone on their insurance......looks like you might have a spare iPhone on your hands. I very much doubt the other person would bother to come to your home and make a nuisance of themselves.

I told Apple I was concerned about person coming to our place. She said don't give the phone if that happens. I thought that was odd so maybe a replacement was sent out but can Apple do it that fast even if sold out?

If they have and I gave the one I have they would have two phones because without updated tracking its still shows I have possession of it.

I will see if UPS can come after 7pm we are working family.

I think your reading more into this whole situation then there needs to be. I seriously doubt somebody is going to show up to claim the phone. I also seriously doubt that there tracking information even has your address. Are you assuming this based on your own tracking information for the phones you received?

Are you a LEO? If you come across any property that does not belong to you the police will hold it. Just tell UPS or whoever where you left it. If you hold onto it to long you could possibly be charged with theft.

No Why? A Libra. They have notes on all the accounts how I was upset about it so I don't think I will be charged with theft. It was delivered to me with my iPhone's. Not my fault. Should I take to PD even if they told me not to? That was one of my alternative question to Apple. The guy sort of snickered at me. So many crooked cops what would they do with? Their must be a reason they told me not to do that.

Other persons tracking number shows being delivered to me and my signature. One sig for four phones. One mine, my husband, son and thought the other one for my brother that got back ordered. I didn't think anything about it. He scanned then all up and said sign. I did. We were busy talking about his busy day and night. He was helping out the regular driver for my area. He was 50ish and heavyset. He was sweating badly.

There's no reason to bring it to them. The police has better to do than track down the owner of a box. Hold on to it for a while and if no one gets in contact with you about it, I guess you have a free iPhone on your hands. I highly doubt you would be charged with theft, and they would probably ask for it back before they went to such drastic measures.
