I have two iPhone 6 Plus phones with a Will Call hold placed on them. Both of them just arrived at my local UPS facility less than 20 minutes ago. So far, the tracking just says "Arrived" - not out for delivery and not confirmed held. I suspect over the next hour or so, I'll see if they complete the will call hold on them or not. Either way, the center doesn't open until 9am so it's a waiting game for me!

Boom! I'll be there at 8am when they open the doors in 40 minutes.

I called UPS and asked them, they said the "out for delivery" thing is automated when they scan the package when preparing the trucks and that as long as you requested will call (and it says it somewhere on your tracking), it will be waiting for you.

I'm not saying the person you talked to is wrong, but mine never said Out for Delivery...

Mine did say out for delivery for about an hour or so but now has been updated to reflect that it is being held for pickup. What a rollercoaster!

I have my iPhone and 2 packages coming from Amazon via UPS today. I decided to pick up my iPhone and figured while I was there, I might as well pick up the Amazon packages so I requested will call for both of those.

Ultimately, my tracking for my iPhone and one Amazon package say "As requested, the UPS My Choice® delivery change was completed. / The receiver arranged to pick up the package at a UPS facility. Pickup must be made within 5 business days. " with no Out for Delivery scan, and the other Amazon package is Out for Delivery even though it shows I requested will call yesterday.

So whatever, if it's there, great, if it gets delivered, that's fine too. It was nothing important and I'm in no hurry to get it.

Just got to UPS...pulled up right at 8:00 Three people in were waiting outside. All apple fans I'm sure. Sure beats waiting on the delivery man all day or even worst, waiting in front of a store all night.

Just a couple quick notes. "Out for delivery" doesn't necessarily mean it's out for delivery. It can mean nothing but an additional arrival scan on top of the initial scan at the destination.

Also, I'm in a line of only about 9 people but the UPS clerk is in a panic, lol. So, yea...

Haha that's awesome. The clerk better get ready for a possibly long day.

Waiting and we are only about 20 people here. And not sure if all of them are here for the same reason. Anyway, much better than the lines at the Apple store and the carriers.

So just an update for everyone freaking out about their will-called iPhone being OFD....

I decided to give UPS a call about that one Amazon package that was OFD. When I called, it still had OFD. I got to an agent a minute later who told me it was held for pickup, and in between me dialing the number and getting to an agent, tracking updated because the OFD scan was replaced with "As requested, the UPS My Choice® delivery change was completed. / The receiver arranged to pick up the package at a UPS facility. Pickup must be made within 5 business days."

mine's waiting at will call but it's under my husband's name..that shouldn't be an issue right? my license has our same address and last name on it.

not to sound condescending, truly just asking here. If this your going this route did you feel this was better than just doing personal pick up at the store?

I thought I wanted to go this route also, I know my fedex guy takes till like 7pm on iphone release days from previous experience  so I wanted to either send it to a friends job or do the hold for delivery.

Once i found out I could do personal pick up at the apple store I figured that was the best route, ymmv on which one is busier but I would expect your ups hub to be busy that morning as well.

with pick up option I can open the phone there, do a quick turn on make sure no screen broken or DOA and be omw.

I assume two of the answers is that in store pick up from apple was not available and secondly you ordered from the carrier so it had to be shipped?

i'm just curious to see if delivery is the best route for future years purchases :)

Many on us are not allowed to purchase our iPhones at the Apple store. I have an amazing plan with Sprint (SERO) that has strict upgrade rules! I can ONLY buy online from Sprint if I want to get it by launch date or I can wait a couple of months and go to a corporate store (at first they will sell only to new activations!)

:)

I advise bringing a piece of mail or document that verifies your address, if your license address doesn't match. I went this morning to get the iPhone, and they gave me a little bit of trouble until I could provide a piece of mail

Confirmed, I just checked my tracking and got the same message:

"As requested, the UPS My Choice® delivery change was completed. / The receiver arranged to pick up the package at a UPS facility. Pickup must be made within 5 business days."

Time to head to UPS pickup center. :)

Picked mine up about an hour after opening. No line at all. There was a box of maybe 20 iPhones. Probably had been quite a few in before me because when I said I was picking up a package, the clerk asked if it was an iPhone.

Just picked mine up from will call! The lady asked if it was a phone and I said, "yup!" and she said, "you came at the right time, we just finished up 2 line-fulls" - good to know waiting an hour after customer center opened was a good idea, haha :p
