Do you know if "any condition" also includes things like find my locked/etc phones? I'd ideally just buy the cheapest ip14 off of FB marketplace, but sure if (a) I'll be able to verify if it was stolen or not and (b) might not be able to get the IMEI if broken

I'd of course try to find a non-stolen one, but buying from FBM it's hard to know who you're dealing with and who is telling the truth when you can't verify with a broken device.

I would suggest reading the fine print on AT&Ts site for the info, I’m not doing carrier financing so I didn’t read too much into it. Sorry!

I prepped my preorder and since I am currently on iUP, I decided to do the lease. When entering a payment method it rejected my Discover, Citi, and Chase cards (I finally read the fine print and saw that these banks aren't supported) and ended up using a Bank of America credit card. So crazy that so many payment methods are ineligible for Klarna.
That's weird. I have had a Klarna account forever, and my Discover card is set as my "preferred" method of payment.

It seemed really strange. I am going to try to update the card once I have the phone and the account is billing normally. I have been using my Discover with Citizen's and I'd like to keep it that way.

No. It is the opposite. The 24 month lease payment is significantly less per month. For example a ProMax 256 gb is $53.99 for 12 months and $37.99 for 24 months.
Got out of the apple upgrade cycle this year with the new lease program being released. I paid off the next 12 months of my phone and using it as a trade in then just buying the new phone each year. I knew I would have this full price year but going forward will only be like 700ish to get a new phone. (pay off amount and difference from the trade) works out to be full price of the new phone.

This is because banks now are offering their own form of BNPL (Buy Now Pay Later) services so they are starting to decline charges from 3rd party BNPL services like Klarna, PayPal, Affirm, etc. Also banks do not like it when a 3rd party issues credit to a consumer and then makes payments with their credit card.

Any one else notice, the carrier free option has been removed when pre-ordering? Ive always ordered the carrier free option an never had to pay activation fee, now apple is forcing to pick a carrier even on unlocked phones when preordering. "connect to any carrier is not an option" when order a 18 pro max , this screenshot below is from a 17

I've always had an initial connection fee / set up with every new iPhone. This might be a different way to manage it, but I've always had one, even with the watch.

Unfortunately their fine print doesn't cover those details!
Ahh understood, my guess would be they’d take a locked phone (even if locked to a different carrier) with the possible caveat that it might be worth less? That’s just a guess though, so I don’t want to give you bad info, it’s pure speculation! As far as a possibly stolen phone, I’d think that wouldn’t go over as well (even if it’s unintentional).

Good luck, sorry I couldn’t help more!

The Grove store can get crazy. On the plus side it’s considered a ‘flagship’ store, so they get a lot of stock.

If it were me, I’d get there around 7am and check out the scene at the Apple Store. If it looks good, I’d then have breakfast at DuPars and head back to the Apple Store when I was through.

BTW: Lots of great choices for breakfast between The Grove and Farmer’s Market (they’re contiguous to each other). I just haven’t had DuPars in a while and thinking about The Grove made me crave it, haha!!

Good luck!!
Thank you! I will try my luck. Shame I just can't do an online order for pick up in store 🙁

Question... When I did my pre-order, there was no option for picking up at a specific Apple Store vs having it shipped. Is that something you can only do once ordering itself goes live?

Conditions are on the AT&T website, but here’s some of the conditions to qualify for the largest amount of credits, other trade in may still be an option just with less credits offered for those. All the info is on the AT&T wireless homepage.

  • To qualify for up to $1,200 credit on iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, minimum Trade-In value must be $180 or above.
    • Eligible “Any Condition” Trade-in devices:
      • Apple iPhone: 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max, 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max, Air, 17e, 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max
    • Eligible Non-Any Condition Trade-in devices with min. $180 TiV:
      • Samsung Galaxy: S23 Ultra, S24+, S24 Ultra, Z Fold5, Z Flip6, Z Fold6, Z Flip7 FE, Z Flip7, Z Fold7, S25, S25 FE, S25+, S25 Edge, S25 Ultra, S26, S26+, S26 Ultra
      • Google Pixel: 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold, 10, 10a, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, 10 Pro Fold
      • OTHER: Moto Razr Ultra 2025
But the whole $1200 credit would probably be for the highest storage 17PM, right? Each lesser version & earlier model gets declining amounts?
