Can I order another one if I'm on the Upgrade program and just return the one that comes late?
I've done this before and it was a nightmare because the Upgrade Program phone was attached to the specific device you are trading in and they can't switch it. So I just played with the new additional phone for a couple of days until the 1UP phone came in.

Opposite seems to happen for me. It says launch day delivery, only to be pushed up by a week later. It’s happened to me twice in the past with launch day delivery. 👎 Says launch day delivery, not holding my breath though. 🤷🏼‍♂️ 17 PM cosmic orange.

Just want to pop in and say I got a launch day delivery! Hope everyone is enjoying this fine preorder morning!

Apple: I’m mad at you. Whyyy are you punishing the pre-pre orders. We all got all our info in early, got up at 5am, waited in the queue…only to give us 9/25 delivery?!

I know dates have retroactively switched back in the past. Fingers crossed for this. But sometimes glitches are actual errors and we might get screwed.

I’m just annoyed because I LOVE launch day. For us OG’rs we get hyped. We want our new phone in-hand FIRST. Some even watch planes. ✈️ and it gets intense. Anywho..rant over.
100% same here.

Felt a bit cheated after going thru all the hoops from the announcement to pre-bagging the order and finding out at 5am PDT that it's 9/25 delivery.

So like I have done in the past, I placed a backup order for ISPU and got 9/19 pickup 10 minutes after the pre-bagged preorder.

Will return whichever gets here last.

It's a great way to ensure launch day delivery/pickup having 2 orders but returning the other order on Apple's dime is a way of making a statement not to mess with us OG loyalists...

Can I order another one if I'm on the Upgrade program and just return the one that comes late?
I have moved on from the Upgrade program and now am using the Apple Card 24 month financing. Way less complicated with questions like this! Within the Upgrade program you can only buy one phone, and it comes with your current phone number and carrier already assigned to it.

Using Apple Card 24 Month financing, I have ordered two phones for pickup and will take home the color I prefer in person. I got zero questions about my current phone line or plan during purchasing process, and will just swap the selected phone in when I get home with it.

I rarely sent in the phone anyway as I'd pass it down in family or sell it, so it was just an annoyance to get the return shipping box, etc.

iUP was great when i used it, but now I've moved on. lol

I ordered mine once preorders started, and it shows delivery on September 25. However, if I were to order it now, it would show delivery on the 19th in Florida.
Will my iPhone arrive early?

On the phone with Apple about glitch that I could not choose ISPU this morning although that's how I set it up yesterday. She says their systems are down. Come on Apple, you know every year it's crazy on pre-order day, surely by now you know how to be ready for the influx of orders. So now I have an IUP order to deliver on the 25th and an Apple Card installments order to pick up in store on Sept 19th. I wonder whether I can change my Sept 19 pick-up order to the IUP when I go pick it up. Maddening after all the very careful prep I did yesterday.

Same - used to finance with Citizen's Bank, but now with the Apple Card, it's more flexible.

I placed 2 orders (duplicate) on the Apple Card to see which one arrives on launch day.

The one that arrives late will get sent back on Tim's dime....

Ordered 3 phones: 2 from Apple, 1 from AT&T
- 17 Black 256: error on Apple website the night before saying my plan was ineligible (all my iPhones are on the same Family Plan, so who knows). Ordered 2 minutes early from AT&T app on iPhone for delivery on 9/19.
- 17P Blue 256 & Silver 512: had 3 devices waiting in the queue and the Apple Store app on iPhone got in first after waiting 6 minutes. In-store pickup on 9/19 at 8:15am instead of delivery on 9/25.
- Watches & AirPods Pro 3: ordered on 9/11 for delivery on 9/19.

The Apple website error the night before was actually a good opportunity to review my AT&T plan. I was able to change to a new plan with all the same features but at $20 less per month.

That 24 month financing via Apple Card makes you select a carrier to get the deal. Verizon wanted a $40 upgrade fee. Complete BS. I cancelled and changed it to pay in full. Verizon can suck it and not getting that fee. That is some new sneaky BS they are pulling this year between Apple/Carriers when financing 0% with Apple Card.

Late to join this thread, but I preordered a cosmic orange 17 pro max at 8:01 and got a 9/25 delivery date. Hopefully it bumps up to 9/19!

Fair enough. I've not done that since you had to for the early iPhones.

I remember I think it was the 3G or 3GS having to get to the store like 5 hours before it opened as it was just a queue based system back then. Was first in line. Got in and already their payment systems had crashed (O2 store, only carrier it was supported on back in the day in UK) so waited like 1 hour. In the end had to leave for work and they said they'd put one aside and let me pick it up at lunch which I did.

I like the low hassle of getting it delivered these days but admit it's not as bad in-store as the early days :)
Things are different now. In my suburban Apple Store location, it's pretty low-key on iPhone launch day. There are two lines. One for people who have pre-ordered and a line for people who have not. I had a 9 am reservation last year and I still had to wait in line for 30 minutes. Which was surprising. But once I was met by an associate, I was out of the store in 15 minutes. Swapped eSIM, blew through set-up, and traded in my old iPhone.

I'll be curious if things are a bit more hectic next year with the folding iPhone. But perhaps not because of the high price point.
