I'm so excited about the last few updates that I'm thinking about getting a Fire Tablet so I can at least have my videos and my music arranged and maintained the way I want. I now only use "TV" on a Mac to add metadata to videos, then copy them out of TV, and then delete them from TV. I no longer use TV on my iPad at all. It's Prime Day(s). FTs are cheap. :)

i mean, seriosly, what else you could possibly pack in an OS?
This has been covered numerous times but here's some since you just tuned in;
Weather app
Calculator app
A calendar app on par with the desktop version
A contacts app on par with the desktop version
Allow companies like Microsoft to include VBA in Excel and ability to edit said code
Allow companies like Microsoft to include VBA in Word and ability to edit said code

As a fundamental rule, people get excited by new and shiny things, regardless of whether they are well designed and executed.

Most people have this crazy notion that under Steve Jobs, it was just exciting and novel new things every year. It wasn't.

At its roots, Apple is a refinement company that introduces a new product/platform/service/app, and then will spend years and years refining that product/platform/service/app.

To outsiders, that's boring, but it's what makes Apple, well, Apple.

I'm having extreme battery consumption with iOS 15 on my iPhone SE 1st gen. Sometimes it gets incredibly hot just using simple apps like mail, weather etc.

assuming you mean ipad?
and if all those were implemented, people would suddenly stop bitching about lack of features?

I think we have arrived at a point of “what more is needed from a phone?”
I can’t remember even 10% of all the features in iOS.
Put more engineering efforts into reliability and less resource usage. Reliability gives gives u peace of mind and less resource usage lowers costs and increases battery life

Run MacOS on M1 iPad when attached to keyboard such that the iPad finally becomes a real alternative for a laptop.
Stop fooling around with upgrades that are so tiny, and most of all, stop making such a noise about it.
Do something meaningful Apple.

One reason why iOS 15 allows multiple app copies is thanks to its new Focus features. Depending on which Focus mode you are in at the time, you can disable home screen pages. This also means that you can set up different modes for when you are working and relaxing. For example, when you are in work mode, you can set it up to hide the app pages that have all your distraction-inducing apps in one place to maintain your concentration and productivity.
Who cares. Control your own mind and attention span.

After using both iPad OS 15 and iOS 15, I would say the disappointing part of all this was the WWDC presentation. They focused on a few tentpole features, but really didn't capture the updates very well.

To put it another way, I think people were unimpressed with the keynote, but will be (then) pleasantly surprised when the updates are released.

Some examples please.

It is interesting cause Jeff on 9to5Mac somehow finds 300+ features to talk about for 2 hours. Hardly considered underwhelming imo. No idea what other people would actually want.

The only big wants I have are related to network reliability. Most of the other stuff would be cool to have.

iOS:
- Ability to set any app I want as default. It's getting closer but you still can't change all iOS default apps to a third party app.
- Allow web browsers to use something other than Web Kit.
- Reliably connect to WiFi after waking from sleep. It's more reliable than macOS but sometimes I have to turn WiFi on/off.
- Rename "Hey Siri" command (As a Star Trek fan, I want to be able to call out Computer or Hello Computer)
- On that note. A Majel Barrett Siri Voice option. I know she made a phonetic recording of her voice. Apple needs to pay for the rights to use it!
- Better file browser and file browser integration. More on the level of Finder.
- Terminal
- Downgrade/upgrade to any supported version, no more signing requirement
- Multi-Boot/VM support (How awesome would it be to be able to run an Android VM or bootcamp into Android/macOS)
- iCloud like sync/backup/restore to local server or over internet to my server.

macOS:
- Reliably connect to WiFi after waking from sleep. This has been an issue since my first Mac with WiFi a 2006 Macbook.
- Reliably find all computers on network with File Sharing enabled. Both SMB and AFP. This has always been an issue.
- Rename "Hey Siri" command
- Ability to disable all nagging for OS updates
- Ability to disable SIP from Terminal without going into Recovery Mode
- Allow apps like CandyBar to work again
- Ability to disable iCloud setup nagging
- Stop asking if I want to use a new disk for Time Machine
- LCARS GUI option. Because, you know, Star Trek. Even though it would probably suck to use in practice.

Man as someone who’s lived out of country since 19, being able to use Shareplay now to watch movies with my sister and parents from time to time is very exciting. Also we’ve got Hi-Res and Dolby Atmos Music which I know isn’t only for iOS 15, but this year I’m satisfied with.

The focus crap drives me insane it’s like having three more Do Not Disturbs.

For users who embrace the changes Apple makes and just reap the benefits of it, they can move on, I know I have. Every update has just brought more small quality of life updates that just make the experience much more pleasant, and I've moved from a desktop OS to 99% iPadOS. The Focus feature has been something I've really been waiting for, because DND just never fit when I sleep, drive, or was at work, it was an all or nothing approach. Now that I have granular control over it, work has been much more productive seeing only the important apps I need at the time, sleep has been better not worrying if I missed an emergency call because DND is on. The only thing I'm missing now is color management when printing, but I can remedy that by changing my aging photo printer to the Epson that allows it with their app. If you're just going to go year to year expecting MacOS, you'll always be disappointed, but if you're just going to take what Apple is doing, you'll find yourself so much happier.

I plan to use this feature a lot. Right now I'm manually quitting a bunch of apps on my Mac while I'm doing work but I continue to get notifications from things that I don't want on my phone and iPad. I can't just mute my phone because some of the notifications are actually work related. There are several apps that create this feature on the Mac, but they don't sync across devices.

So it's not a gimmick, it's a legitimately useful feature for some of us. You don't need to use it, of course, but I expect that I'll be using it full time as soon as it's available to me.
Fully agree here. Speaking for my own uses…this isn’t a gimmick. For my uses…split screen on the phone WOULD be. The way I use my phone, split screen is of no real use to me. Now the multitasking improvements on the iPad…VERY welcome addition for my uses on that device.

Some people probably should use the word “we” less. Not everyone is looking for the exact same thing.

'Users compensate their lack of appreciation for technology with pointless fantasies, Survey Suggests'

Most of what some of us find superfluous has probably come about because Apple listens too much to the eternal complainers.
And yes, of course iChat was ahead of Facetime at the time. No one knows what happened at Apple back then.

I personally enjoyed the keynote. It was more exciting than 80% of my normal lifetime. Nice that others want to claim that it was more boring than 100% of their lives.

That's fine...not every update is going to be big deal. I totally understand that. However, don't put on a big flashy show (or video stream) hyping the new OS as if its more than what it really is.

So from having the horrible home bar we can’t remove to having 3 dots on top off each page for someone with ocd it’s not nice
