From the outside, all cars look the same.
True, we didn't get some of the expected new features, but look in the interior and also under the hood of iOS 15 and you will be pleased.

If Apple makes things work differently, people will also complain about it.
Also, it will be a nightmare for Developers. Imagine apps now requiring a lot of changes to be compatible, etc.

While 15 has some nice quality of life changes I would class this as a .5 update instead of a full OS update, but it's been like that for a few iOS versions and it's getting stale.

And iPad split screen on the larger iPhones would be nice, pathetic waste of space.

Neither update looked very exciting, and iPadOS was downright a disappointment for anyone hoping to really use an iPad as their main machine.
iPadOS was a deep disappointment. People were hoping for more since Apple looks to have adopted a tick / tock style. Io one year and iPadOS another year. But iPadOS still got deeply underserved.

Great publicity for this previously unknown buyback company. Too bad it carries no real weight. And as for my personal opinion, add me to the ranks of those who prefer stability to new whiz-bang feature with every last release. This is a big nothing burger, this survey.

I think there will be a lot of good refinements in this update. It doesn’t need to be major changes every year but there are a few things I think are missing, like interactive widgets, the ability to go back and see recently deleted notifications, another overhaul of the Podcasts app, maybe an ability to view the app library as a list, ability to turn off that annoying dictation enabler in the bottom right corner of the keyboard, and I have to admit I like the way the control center and notifications are combined in Android. I'd be okay with bringing that to iOS.

Things like “ipad widgets on desktop” shouldn’t even count. It was almost like apple purposely didn’t given ipad certain features last year just so they’d have something to provide this year.
Lack of a true “Extend My Desktop” for secondary screens and another round of “Let’s Try This Again Multitasking”, which reminds me of Microsoft changing the Xbox One main UI every six to nine months are not great hot takes for people to come away with, IMHO.

Again, all this horsepower in the new iPad Pro’s without an app that truly works out the A12X, much less the M1 is not how you want to market your tablet line. It’s like selling a Corvette equipped with bicycle tires. Sure, you can do it, but why would you want to?

I think the iPad not being able to use 16g of ram is a problem as well as
the pro apps and pro functions are just not there.
Why buy a newer iPad when the 2018 or 2019 will do just as much?
And iOS 14 messes with your playlists, does 15 do that too?
My 2017 12.9” iPad Pro is still rocking and I don’t see any need to update it until iPadOS catches up.

Aside from a one or two cool, really innovative and useful features, that's how I felt about iOS/iPadOS 15, too-- yawn. I think this release is really about optimization.

Good.

Many of us have been asking Apple to slow down on on features and concentrate on stability and polish. Judging from the change list and the early betas, that is what they are doing this year. I’m happy with that.
Yes, they do need to up their quality control. Lots of little things don't work or are supremely glitchy. And the pace of software releases is exhausting. Quality control should be paramount this year.

Eh it’s just an update. For me after being on a dev account the iOS is very laggy. I’ve given up trying to design anything. Also turned off live text as it crashed the camera app every time. Tbh we’ve all seen the end of Apple for a while now. Innovations left the building. I know I’ll end up deleting this later as some arm chair know it all will give their two cents. The only thing that was new in the iPhone 12 was LiDAR. Raise your hand if you’ve used it.
Why are you complaining about performance and stability of the first beta release?

Every apple event now is kinda boring, all I wanted was a way to remove the dam home bar which puts me off using my devices as it’s always in the way and I can’t stop seeing it, it would look like so much more clean without it, and for heavens sake change the overall look at least give us 3D apps like big sur the overall flat look since 2013 is boring
I never really noticed the home bar . . . Until now! And I can’t unsee it. Thank you for that 😂😂😂😂

It already drives me nuts seeing previously shared links in the attachment section on iMessage. I can’t imagine having much use for a „For You“ section on multiple touch points across iOS.

i watched the keynote and I kept thinking „has anyone actually asked for this?“ what is the use case? Why would I change my whole work flow to even bother getting used to how some things work now? Am I OLD?!

i am really surprised they are not pushing the limits on iOS iPadOS. I remember back in the day you would update your iPhone to get the latest and greatest features. Now I am more like the iPhone is pretty much the same each year, just slightly faster, which you won’t notice cuz at the end of the day you just end up using the exact same apps on your exact same Home Screen again
That’s pretty much the reason why I haven’t updated my Pro Max to 14.6. I’m still on 14.1 that my phone shipped with. My jailbreak tweaks seem more exciting to me than anything past 14.1.

The issue here is EXPECTATION for the same hardware that a m1 mac has running on a ipad pro tablet with so much less productivity functionality than the mac computer, macOS is productivity oriented, ipadOS is “prosumer” oriented at its best. We nerds need to understand no matter the components, no matter the pro label, an ipad is not and will not ever be a mac ... but still we wonder.

The fact is, literally no matter what Apple (or any company) introduces, there will ALWAYS be people finding something to complain about. You just can’t please everybody, especially those who have unrealistic expectations

While there aren’t any major new features for me in iOS 15 I’m still happy to see all the little quality of life improvements Apple is making. I also think the addition of Matter support to HomeKit will be huge.
