I really want to pick up one of these cases, but these couple of posts are giving me second thoughts. A small lip around the edges is a must for me even thought I don't usually place my phone face down much. Do any others with the Grip (or Grip LP) have a lip (or not)?

Note in the picture below that the screen is off the table by about 1mm. This is because the corners are raised by about that much, but not the sides as you have seen in other posted pictures. I think the case is great. It's much more grippy but a little thicker than the thin Spigen case that it replaces. Feels great in hand. Recommended.

Just an FYI that the edges / corners are raised on SOME corners by about the thickness of a screen protector [literally nothing at all]… the very tips on a few of the corners are slightly higher due to how they wrapped the leather around the corners of the plastic frame. I tested it out with a piece of paper that was sticky and it always got stuck to the screen [at least on my 2 Vaja Grips for the iPhone 6]. There is a bit of an optical illusion created due to the curved iPhone screen extending out from the metal case.

This is from the Vaja Customer Support:
Thanks for the images. All our grip cases include the edges at the same level of the screen, they are not supposed to go higher than the screen. That gap would not be either aesthetical or functional
at all.

I have a Vaja grip case for my 6+ and it's got a great lip to protect the phone face down. Don't even worry about that. It's supposed to have a lip. I doubt that previous post, that contradicts the website and my own personal experience.

I expected some buyers remorse after splurging, but it's been anything but that. I love this case. It's professional, smooth, soft, thin, grippy, protective, and did I mention it arrived 3 weeks early? Granted, I got a stock case, not specialized. But still...it was a nice surprise. I am very happy with my purchase.

Can you post some pictures of your case? Preferably with the phone in it.

I mailed Vaja about this (the lip along the edges for the Grip/Grip LP), and this is their reply.

Thanks for contacting Vajacases and your interest in our products! That feature is not offered for that line, not even as a customization option.

Please let me know if I can be of any additional assistance

Considering the number of people who have gotten the "no lip" answer from Vaja (and the few who have received their Vaja in the other thread sans lip), I'd guess that your case having a lip might be a stroke of luck. That said, I don't fancy putting down a $90-$100 bet on my case having that same stroke of luck and having a lip.

Also, does anyone know how many business days after their case shipped it took for them to receive it in the United States?

Mine shipped from Venezuela on a Tuesday, arrived at my local FedEx office on Thursday and was delivered to me on Monday. They request a weekday delivery only (I have no idea why FedEx didn't deliver Friday). It was definitely worth the wait.

They are based in Argentina so I take it your case actually shipped from there.

How long after you received tracking info that it was entered into the system? I received a shipping notice with a DHL link and tracking number last week..... still no information on DHL tracking link tonight. Thats 7 days with no info or delivery.

Huh?!? Even Vaja says it has no lip... What are you trying to deceive people for?

I have the Grip LP for the 6plus and it most definitely has a lip raised above the screen of the phone, around entire perimeter.
I'm putting a screen protector on, and I'm not sure if the lip will be above that. Hoping to try the install today.

That's kind of the problem... the inconsistency. Some people are reporting no lip (or not enough of a lip to protect the screen when placed face down), while others are reporting a lip, meanwhile the customer service of Vaja isn't really helping either by saying the lip doesn't exist.

If it's a 50/50 if you'll get a case with a lip, it's a rather expensive gamble at $90-100.

Mind posting a pic of your case showing the lip?

I'm going take a closer look that these cases, though at a 100 bucks, it is a bit pricey.

So it seems there are some variations with the case, some with a lip others w/o.

Remember that the cases are handcrafted, I do not think it is inconsistency but more like a human limit.
Did you try to make some pressure on the customer service? Tell them that some of their products have a lip and that you really want it.
After all, they will need to be more careful when they craft your case but they gain a new customer.

Yeah, I did mention it to them in a ticket that I really wanted the lip... This is the key line in their reply to me.

I'm still undecided on Vaja right now, but it's not looking so good. If they were selling at maybe $50 or below, I wouldn't mind picking one up just to see if it had a lip. Problem is at $100, I don't feel quite as comfortable doing something like that.

Do they ship all cases from Argentina? I thought I remember somebody saying they kept some of their in-stock inventory stateside.

I know but her answer seems the first, almost automatic reply you receive from most customer supports.
If you decide to go for vaja tell her they already craft cases with a small lip (it implicitly means that the "key line" is not true at all). I see three possible replies:
1) She is a kind person and put a note near your order
2) She is not that kind and refuse to understand. You could try to submit another ticket and speak with a different person or go ahead and spend your money somewhere else.
3) Vaja wants customers to pay for a lip in the near future, somethings that seems stupid if some cases already have a lip.

I mean, they send products with a lip to people that do not ask for them, why should they refuse to do the same for someone that asks for it? #3 is the only answer that comes to my mind but again, it would be stupid.

Part of the problem might be that people are talking about both the grip and grip LP in this thread. It's possible the grip does have a lip and the LP, with its slightly thinner form factor, doesnt.

I think they ship everything from Argentina, they have some stock on hand from time to time, otherwise your specific order is handmade which is why the slow turn around - not international shipping.

Hope you can post some soon. Thanks :D

Sorry for the delay - here it is:

Vaja cases are nice! I had it for my iPhone 4. The only negative I can think of is the long wait and shipping times from Argentina (I live in South East Asia). What I grew to dislike is they added substantial thickness to the phone itself. That's why I went with Calypsocase this time round. A thin leather case. The pricing is costlier than Vaja substantially. And the time to ship is 3-4 weeks. But its all Italian leather. Oh well. I am just glad we have choices. It's a wonderful thing.

Those look amazing....... Think I'll pick one up soon.

I installed the iLoome screen protector on my 6plus, and the lip the Grip LP case had is gone, the screen protector is flush with the case.
I'll try to post pics later.
