The trouble is that the exposed corner is sensitive to the magnet that controls the smart on/off. If you often fold the cover back and hold on to it upright, like for reading in bed, youmwill have a major issue with this. I can justify spending 200+ on a case, but not one that has such a major defect.

Back to the drawing board. Leaning towards the Beyza right now, but we'll see.
Strange, I wonder if this might be a problem with different iPads. Now I have my second Vaja I still cant find any position where the back folded cover switches off the iPad...and I tried hard.

But I never found a reason for folding it back anyway. For using it in bed the upright position is perfect only sometimes when I am to lazy I just let the top cover lay on my lap. Holding it upright I find it much nicer having my hands on the leather instead of the lining anyway.

i looked at all my Apple products and they were all made in China??? So not everything made in China is junk? or is it.

Apple products are indeed manufactured in China, and they are made to Apple standards.

Chinao standards are not Apple standards. The fit and finish of the Chinao case is terrible, and the leather is even worse.
Every once in awhile you may get an inexpensive case that is actually nice, but more often than not you get what you pay for.

And you shouldn't come onto a Vaja Libretto thread and try to steer people toward your cheap junk cases as "alternatives" to a high quality real leather case That is thread hijacking, and is wrong. But since you were banned before, you should know that Kevin.

I posted there by accident, and I certainly wasn't trying to get anyone to purchase the Chinao case, especially since I said it was junk.

Not quite hijacking.
And tell your seller you to stop sending me emails asking me to stop telling forum members what I think about the Chinao case he sold me that I returned because it was junk.
Better yet, stop posing as a forum member, and you stop sending me emails claiming to be the seller.

gotta agree here - I pointed out to Lindenhurst what I thought of this fraud afew wqeeks ago...it's as apparent as the nose on your face. Obviously paid to sit by her keyboard. I own two websites and she would have been gone 6 weeks ago if I was modding here. But just my opin.

Keep doggin here L, the rest of us can see it too....when you get PM's and emails - you've touched a nerve - post a few for us to see!

This.

Sexytabitha is killing the integrity of these boards. She did the same thing to me telling me that I wasted my money on my Piel Frama Cinema Case which is just about the softest, nicest leather on the market.

This just in...not everybody wants to pay $20 for junk! There's an old saying..."you get what you pay for"...this especially applies to things like leather. The Piel Frama leather and Vaja leather are both supple and luxurious and some of us are willing to pay for that.

These "shills" come under the guise of "guerrilla marketing" but really it's pure crap. I have been approached on a few marine websites which is my home turf. You are told you can get anything cheap if you will do the following:

1. offer up a lot of solutions so you develop credibility
2. but always come back to the home products
3. "slightly" defend the home products
4. occasionally branch out and review/comment on other things like films/apps, etc...

this idiot defends too much and then made the dead giveaway...the attack..

I also like the morons that come on here claiming their product is the BEST...or AWESOME.....

Oh please, what else is new

I just wandered by here after a few months. I noticed the shills a while ago.

They are swarming this forum. It's very difficult to moderate because they are sneaky (and terrible liars).

Very upsetting, because it ruins the integrity of this board and makes it pretty useless.

But it's the nature of this type of forum.

Agree. I would put Maroo's premium ($100-200) cases in this bracket too (although I sold mine because I thought it was too bulky).

I find it extremely irritating when people say their $20-50 cases compare with a $200 custom premium leather case like Vaja. It's a joke. It's like GM saying a Buick is like a Lexus because it has leather seats!

could not agree more - but the group here is (in general) younger and really has not bought that many things of quality - or so it seems from their posts here -they hover over amazon, cragislist and the like looking for the cheapest thing that remotely looks like it works and then come on here and proclaim it's THE BEST OR AWESOME.....

granted the smartcover is way over grossed but most have no idea what it takes to put a quality product on the market and support it long term....they also think nothing is wrong when a company like yaba daba doo makes rev #1 thru #3 in 6 months becasue 1 and 2 were crap....

I understand that sometimes it's better to pay more for quality...but what's the point when it this thing is gonna be outdated soon when the ipad3 comes out?

Instead of spending 150$+ on this thing, id rather spend $50 on another case and put the savings towards an ipad3 purchase

Don't get me wrong, it looks like a beautiful case and if I was rolling in money, I'd pick one up...just don't see the point in a 1-2 year investment

Vaja Case is beautiful but that's it. In fact I had chance to own few iVolution SP's (including Mamut one, which is very, very nice) and one Agenda case all for iPad 1. After using them all interchangeably for a month they all felt like cheap plastic wrapped in very nice leather with some adhesive (strong adhesive smell upon opening package). In fact Agenda's edge that hold iPad got loose over time after many times of taking iPad in and out. Also color fades easily over time. Sold all the cases and lost interest in Vaja anymore. The high price tag is for leather only. Those who are brave enough can peel off small portion of interior leather and reveal the cheap plastic core. I can guarantee it's a head-turner. But, IMHO, Vaja clone is good enough for most iPad owners. Save your $ for somewhere else, like you said.

Exactly my point initially. I dont want to say it isn't valid anymore, but:
- I will skip iPad 3 so it's rather a 2 year investment
- iPad 2 will maybe go to my wife when I upgrade
- Do you know the feeling when you buy something great and you really enjoy it everyday just looking at it or using/touching it? There is so many other stuff I waste money on that just collects dust on a shelve. This is one of the rare items that beyond any price-quality ratio considerations justified its cost already.

It sure isn't the perfect solution for everybody, but for me every other case I see (or have to handle) looks ordinary or even plain uneasyness to touch.

I am spoiled and will either get a Vaja again next time or something that compares in quality.

Just a small "long-term-experiences" update for those still interested in these.

+ I never took it off once, unlike the Sena I had before this has no edges where dust collects
+ After I got the replacement it holds absolutely secure
+ When I first got it I was concerned about the softness and feared the leather would be easily damaged. It does not (but I handle it with care and made sure the cats dont mistake it for a scratching post).
+ Another concern was the small latch for writing/movie position. But it shows no signs of losening or worse damaging the leather it is tied to. There is always a "line" in the back side where the front cover "cuts in" when in movie mode. But it is leather, so it vanishes with time.
+ I still love the look and how it feels

- On the back where I touch it (sweaty hands sometimes when playing) the leather is slighty worn and paled - to an extend that is obviously to be expected
- The leather buldges as it is not glued to the hard part, but has some soft lining inside that either isnt fix from the beginning or losened. I remember it buldged less at the beginning, but it didn't get worse in the last months. It buldges where you hold it for some time but will tighten again when not used.
- I finally made it turn off when folding back the cover, I needed to twist it, but it never ever happens with normal use for me

Vaja fan no more!

Bought a few iPhone vaja cases and iPad 2. Hate paying 30 bucks shipping every time. Case discoloration occurs pretty quickly. Customer service is beyond horrible. They never answer emails even for products inquiries. My iPad 2 was 160. Bought less than a year ago. Case looks pretty worn in corners. Price was almost 200 bucks. For that, I expect much more. Hoping it will fit my new iPad. If not, I'm moving on to another case! So to answer your questions, NOT worth it. Definitely NO!

I must agree! My Sister received the Vaja as a gift from her Husband about 8 months ago. The leather has worn horribly, and she has been meticulous in its care. :(

Would love to hear if the Ipad 2 cases will fit.

The website indicates they are making new cases for the latest iPad but seems like there is a chance that the current model could actually fit (if not perfectly). If anyone has one and is getting the new iPad please post impressions on whether you can get away with the iPad 2 cases. Plenty of these available on Amazon and/or ebay and don't have to wait the 35 days.

Yes from personal experience. I have the new iPad.

Just realised however the movement in location of the magnets on the new iPad has futzed with the Libretto's auto-sleep/unlock though. :(

No worky anymore.

Bummer... I have a Libretto. Hopefully I can sell it on eBay or Craigslist if it doesn't fit/work. I won't do Vaja again. Too expensive and while they're nice, they aren't like $100 nicer than alternatives, not to mention the wait and shipping costs.
